  • In this paper, a parallel operating technique for the stand alone photovoltaic (PV) power conditioning system (PCS) is proposed. The proposed parallel operating technique can increase the power rating of the system easily. Also, it provide three-phase connection function. The proposed technique does not separated master and slave system. Also, it does not use the separated synchronization line. Therefore, the PCS can supply continuous power even if one of the PCS breaks down. This technique is composed of a phase locked loop (PLL) control, droop control, current limit control and etc. Experimental result obtained on 2-kW prototype to verify the proposed technique.

  • The static frequency converter (SFC) systems are used as a method of driving large synchronous machines in many power and industrial plants. In this paper, new control algorithms of SFC systems for starting gas turbo sets are proposed for a four quadrant operation: start-up at standstill; an acceleration up to the speed of the rated voltage; field weakening to reach the rated speed; synchronization to the main alternating current (AC) source; and dynamic braking to stop safely within the rating of the synchronous machine. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithms are proper and effective.

  • This paper presents a method for building a real-time kernel of autonomous mobile robot control systems. Until now, most of robots have their own operation softwares dedicated only for their use. Sometimes, operation softwares were developed based on MS-DOS or other real -time kernel based on UNIX. However, MS-DOS has many restrictions for use as a robot operation system. Also, mix based real-time kernel has some Limitations for use with mobile robots. So, in this paper, we focus on building a real-time kernel based on Linux. The in this paper, the software modules of Task Management, Memory Management, Intertask Communication, and Synchronization are redesigned. To show the efficiency of the paper, it was applied to run Nomad Super Scout II avoiding obstacles detected by sonar sensor array.

  • In this paper, we discuss about the real-time distributed system for the control of to motors using uCOS-II kernel. Real-time kernel needs to process the tasks for two motors in desired time to synchronize motion. We used both semaphore and message mail box for synchronization. In the previous study, we used step motors for the actuator of two axes robot, but could not draw a clear line because of motor resolution and synchronizing step pulse. To resolve the problem we rebuilt the transfer robot with DC motors and the dedicated position servor which had built in out lab. Moreover we developed the PC based graphic user interface for generating planar drawing image control. Experimental results also presented to show the proposed control system is useful.

  • In this paper, design and control of an interleaved boost converter for multi-string PV Inverter are discussed. Interleaved Boost converter can reduce current ripples at input and output side by cancelling an each phase of inductor currents. Therefore, it contributes to increase efficiency and downsize the whole system volume, cost. One of the advantages of the multi-string system is easy to expand power capacity by connecting the converter modules in parallel. In order to reduce current ripples, the inductor currents on each phase are controlled independently in the converter module, and communication between the converter modules is required for further ripple current reduction. Current control algorithm for the balance of the each phase ripple currents and synchronization of the converter modules based on communication are proposed and implemented in the DSP programming. 10kW prototype of the multi-string converter module is assembled and experimental results are presented to verify the proposed ripple current reduction methods.

  • This paper presents a design experience of a control language for coordination of a multi-robot system. To effectively program job commands, a Petrinet-type Graphical Robot Language(PGRL) is proposed, where some functions, such as concurrency and synchronization, for coordination among tasks can be easily programmed. In our system, the proposed task commands of PGRL are implemented by employing formal model languages, which are composed of three modules, sensory, data handling, and action module. It is expected that by using our proposed PGRL and formal languages, one can easily describe a job or task, and hence can effectively operate a complex real-time and concurrent system. The control system is being implemented by using VME-based 32-bit microprocessor boards for supervisory, each module controller(arm, hand, leg, sensor data processing module) and a real time multi-tasking operating system(VxWorks). • This paper presents a grid voltage-sensorless current control design for an LCL-filtered grid-connected inverter with the purpose of enhancing the reliability and reducing the total cost of system. A disturbance observer based on the gradient steepest descent method is adopted to estimate the grid voltages with high accuracy and light computational burden even under distorted grid conditions. The grid fundamental components are effectively extracted from the estimated gird voltages by means of a least-squares algorithm to facilitate the synchronization process without using the conventional phase-locked loop. Finally, the estimated states of inverter system obtained by a discrete current-type full state observer are utilized in the state feedback current controller to realize a stable voltage-sensorless current control scheme. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is validated through the simulation results.

  • Current end-to-end congestion control depends only on the information of end points (using three duplicate ACK packets) and generally responds slowly to the network congestion. This mechanism can't avoid TCP global synchronization which TCP congestion window size is fluctuated during congestion occurred and if RTT (Round Trip Time) is increased, three duplicate ACK packets is not a correct congestion signal because congestion maybe already disappeared and the host may send more packets until receive the three duplicate ACK packets. Recently there is increasing interest in solving end-to-end congestion control using active network frameworks to improve the performance of TCP protocols. ACC (Active congestion control) is a variation of TCP-based congestion control with queue management In addition traffic modifications nay begin at the congested router (active router) so that ACC will respond more quickly to congestion than TCP variants. The advantage of this method is that the host uses the information provided by the active routers as well as the end points in order to relieve congestion and improve throughput. In this paper, we model enhanced ACC, provide its algorithm which control the congestion by using information in core networks and communications between active routers, and finally demonstrate enhanced performance by simulation.

  • This paper reports on a Realtime OS based motor control system for laparoscopic surgery robot which enables telesurgery and overcomes shortcomings with conventional laparoscopic surgery. The system has a conventional master-slave robot configuration and the control system consists of joint controllers, host controllers, and power units. The robot features (1) a compact slave robot with 5 DOF (Degree Of Freedom) expanding the workspace of each tool and increasing the number of tools operating simultaneously, and (2) direct 1:1 correspondence in the joint of master and slave robot that simplifies control algorithm and enhances reliability. Each master, slave and GUI (Graphical User Interface) host has a dedicated RTOS (RealTime OS), RTLinux-Pro (FSMLabs Inc., U.S.A.) Each master and slave controller set pair has a dedicated CAN (Controller Area Network) channel for control and monitoring signal communication. Total 4 pairs of the master/slave manipulators as current are monitored by one host controller for operation monitoring and higher level motion control. The system showed acceptable performance in both position control precision and master-slave motion synchronization and is now under further development for better safety and control fidelity for clinically applicable prototype.

  • The three-phase synchronous reference frame phase-locked loop (SRF-PLL) is widely used for synchronization applications in power systems. In this paper, a new control strategy for three-phase grid-connected LCL inverters without a PLL is presented. According to the new strategy, a current reference can be generated by using the instantaneous power control scheme and the proposed positive-sequence voltage detector. Through theoretical analysis, it is indicated that a high-quality grid current can be produced by introducing the new control strategy. In addition, a kind of independent control for reactive power can be achieved under unbalanced and distorted grid conditions. Finally, the excellent performance of the proposed control strategy is validated by means of simulation and experimental results.
