This ethnography explored, the emergent writing and literacy of two-year-old children in classroom. The specific purpose of the study focuses on toddler's text appropriation from text environment and on social interaction between teachers and toddlers. The result showed that toddlers appropriated writing signs or words from their own text-environment and used it as the instrument for social interaction and communication. Specifically, they initiated social interaction by giving messages of their appropriated signs to adults as teachers, who were easily capable of communication. This led to all toddlers' involvement in message exchange in the classroom. Toddlers' marks of scribbles were also consisted of different kinds of lines and circles. Those marks have different meaning and. symbolic systems: drawing and writing graphics. Even though drawing and writing graphics developed as different symbol systems in toddlers' marks, each system helped to extend each other.

Walled town was located on the axis connecting symbolic places, which was a feng-shui lucky place of a mountain sits to the rear and a body of water sits to the front. It represents environmental development of cultural space by blend of folk belief, religion, social system, administration facilities and living culture buildings. Therefore it is sustainable cultural view connected of formed or formless religious view and artificial view(wall, government buildings, living houses, and cultivated land so on) in a nature landscape. Environmental design technique, enlarging its meaning and value of living to mental level was founded from space composition and settlement, which was constructed organized space of government and residence area of walled town within the wall for looking for lucky place(from best, better, and good places) in order to construct ecological network (天+地+人, 山＋水＋方位＋人, 地理＋生利＋山水＋人心) by outlook of space and settlement.

Mirrors often appear in fashion advertisements. This study aimed to analyze meanings of the images represented in fashion advertisements using mirrors. This study analyzed the meanings of mirror image in Western art history, and also studied meanings of female representations in the paintings. Based on previous studies, this study classified mirrors' expressions in three types and analyzed their meanings. To analyze the meanings of the three types, this study researched the symbolic meanings of the mirrors in visual arts chronologically, first. And then, this study interpreted that in the context of consumption cultures and consuming ideologies in view of feminism, consumption ideology, desire theory, and fetishism. The results of this study were as follows; 1. Narcistic body expressions associated with strong and independent women, while associated submissive being overwhelmed by consumption cultures. 2. The method of revealing the female body throughout mirrors was meant to attract the attention of consumer. 3. Multiplied body images meaning was like a commodity in fashion advertisements.

In this study, it was carried out to characterize the figures of landform of Yong-San, called dragon mountain implied indentity and emblem of local landscape by analyzing palce name extracted from four county in Kyongsang Nam-Do. The figures of landform of Yong-San was characterized and divided into three types, called as Waryong lying dragon), Banryong(dragon lying in a coil), Yongdu(dragon's crown). And the spatial characterstics of three types of landform were analyzed. Furthermore, it was investigated the development of outlines of characteristic landform recognoxed as a Yong-San and figured out the structure of landform which was easily recognized. According to the results, the outlines and the spatial structure of landform recognized as a Yong-San including a symbolic meaning can be used as a standard of judgement if an area should be reserved for the efficient conduct of regional plan.

중국 경극에서 얼굴에 다양한 분장을 하는 것을 검보라 하며, 극 중에서는 다양한 상징성을 갖는다. 검보는 민족적 특색을 내재하며, 극중 캐릭터를 위한 "영혼의 화면"이라 불린다. 반면, 일본 노극은 가면을 쓰고 연기하는 독특한 고전 가무극으로 히타멘(直面, 가면을 쓰지 않음)과 가면을 쓰는 공연으로 나뉘며, '유현(幽玄)의 예술" 이라고 불린다. 이러한 경극의 검보와 노극의 가면은 애니메이션에 캐릭터에 차용되며, 극의 서사와 상징성을 드러내는 매개 역할을 하고 있다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 경극의 검보와 노극의 가면이 연출된 애니메이션 영화를 중심으로 사례 비교연구를 진행하고자 한다.

Current interest in mathematics learning that focuses on understanding, mathematical reasoning and meaning making underscores the need to develop ways of analyzing classrooms that foster these types of learning. In this paper, I show that the constructs of social and sociomathematical norms, which grew out of taking a symbolic interactionist perspective, and Toulmins scheme for argumentation as elaborated for mathematics education by Krummheuer, provide us with means to analyze aspects of explanation justification and argumentation in mathematics classrooms, including means through which they can be fostered. Examples from a variety of classrooms are used to clarify how these notions can inform instruction at all levels, from the elementary grades through university-level mathematics.

본 논문에서는 교복의 다양한 요소를 사회심리학적 이론에 적용하여 설명함으로써 교복에 대한 사회심리학적 의미를 연구하였다. 본 연구는: 1) 교복의 기능, 장점, 단점, 의미에 관한 기존 문헌자료를 조사하고, 2) 대표적인 다섯 가지 사회심리학 이론을 통하여 교복의 사회심리학적 의미를 조명하며, 3) 교복의 사회심리학적 측면에 관한 향후 연구방향과 과제를 도출하는 목적을 가진다. 교복의 사회심리학적 의미 연구에 사용된 이론은 conformity and uniformity, Post-modernism, role theory, symbolic interaction, 그리고 semiotics and informational processing 이었다. 상기한 다섯가지 이론을 바탕으로 도출한 향후 연구과제로는: 1) 교복 디자인 선택에 있어 학교의 가치기준과 목표 반영 정도, 2) 시대적, 조직적 변화에 대응하는 학생들의 교복변형 행동, 3) 교복도입 전후에 학생들의 역할 수행 변화와 학년에 따른 학생들의 교복행동 변화, 4) 교복 도입이 경제적으로 어려운 학생들의 의복박탈감과 자아존중감에 미치는 영향, 5) 관찰자에 따른 교복 의미 부여의 다양성 등이 제시되었다.

This paper surveys the meaning of the pen name ′Yi Sang(李箱)′ in the light of the arbitariness of language and the relationship among names, observing in three ways how the images of ′Sang′ (Box) appear differently in his works. In Particular, we look into (1) the relationship between a box and its inner boxes, (2) the divisional relationship in the box, and (3) the relationship between the box and an outer box. In Yi Sang′s work, image (1) gives shape to the relationship between the writer himself and his ancestors who are responsible for his present existence. Image (2) gives shape to two internally divided Yi Sangs, and is symbolized as a mirror that reflects two selves. Image (3) gives shape to a relationship between himself in the closed world and other people and/or a bigger outside world. All these symbolic relationships are fully represented in his work "Nalgae" (The Wing)". What is interesting is that Yi Sang has already employed these box images in his earlier poetry "Geonchuk-muhan-yukmyeon-gaucho" (Infinite Architectural Hexagon). furthermore, by visualizing his name as a sqaure($\square$), he means to suggest the intentional image of his pen name as a ′box′.

The area of discourse analysis has long neglected the value of images as a semiotic resource in communication. This paper suggests that like language, images are rich in meaning potential and are governed by visual grammar structures which can be utilized to decode the meanings of images. Employing a theoretical framework in visual communication, two digital images are examined for their representational and interactive dimensions and the dimensions' relation to the magazine advertisement genre. The results show that the framework identified narrative and conceptual processes, relations between participants and viewers, and symbolic attributes of the images, which all contribute to the sociological interpretations of the images. The identities and relationships between viewers and participants suggested in the images signify desirable qualities that may be associated to the product of the advertiser. The findings support the theory of visual grammar and highlight the potential of images to convey multi-layered meanings.
