This study examines the space composition and character of Elizabethan Theater base on the theory of drama and Shakespeares play in the english traditional theater. Contemporary multi purpose theater and public space is considered as a symbolic representation of the Elizabethan theaters organization and renaissance culture. In the historical theory, the Shakespeares theater was a common tool and best systeme in reflecting peoples lives. This role of theater as mass culture and new style of theater permanent design has get its value with the population increase and the urban centralization of the city and urban common sense. This study attempts to reevaluate the need of public space in modern society through a critical review of theater and its use as a open space design. Content analysis was used to discuss the topics of this study including the historical background of the theater, the relationship between Greek culture and modern design, and the role of scenery, auditorium and its impact on urban environment. The scope of the study is limited to the comparison of Elizabethan theater and space use program from the space critic and sociologist. Today the concept of theatrical space is altered with the advent of non-objects and multi media space. This study provides insights for the future implications of theatrical space in developing public space for its a new definition as cultural representation.

As the standard for the value of modern people's life increases, hotels make efforts for the users' qualitative and mental satisfaction. As an approach to hotel space design differentiated for new experiences for travelers, a design that reflects the placeness is needed so that people can experience the local culture and historical meaning of the place. Thus, this study divides the components of placeness into physical factors, socio-cultural factors, and semantic factors. As for methods for the design expression of placeness formation, physical factors are classified as the connection to surrounding environments, center, passage, and area. Socio-cultural factors are classified as cultural experiences in the place. Semantic factors are classified as symbolism and historicity. For a case analysis in this study, overseas four-star hotels or higher, where placeness stood out are analyzed, based on the above-extracted components of placeness. As a result of the analysis, the hotels in the cases showed an aspect of expression that emphasized semantic factors despite there were differences in the detailed expression method, depending on the designers. The expression of the place that reflected locality and temporality showed the connection of time, connecting the past with the present. In the future, only the design expression based on the historical and symbolic meanings of the place will be the experience that remains in the users' memories, very precisely.

This study examines the use of public space in the urban environment based on the theory of Italian plazas as a theatre. Public space is considered as a symbolic representation of the urban organizatiov. In history, especially in Italy, the plaza was a common tool in reflecting people's lives through its use as a theatre. However, this role of plaza as a public space has lost its value with the population increase and the urban centralization of the city. This study attempts to reevaluate the needed of public space in modern society through a critical review of plaza and its use as a theatre. Content analysis was used to discuss the topics of this study including the historical background of the urban plaza, the relationship between plaza and theatre, and the role of public space and its impact on urban environment. The scope of the study is limited to the development of urban plaza from the ancient Greek to premodern Italy. This study is to demonstrate purple color characteristics by analyzing various purple clothing from Antiquity to modern fashion. In this respect, both documentary and investigative studies have been performed. Through, the documentary studies, the changes and examples of purple clothing were scrutinized, and images of purple were classified based on the Color Image Scale. Purple color samples applied during a period from 1993 to 1996, were collected from 33 women's domestic brands, and the colors were measured by the CE 7000 spectrophotometer and analyzed by Munsell HV/C. The results were shown as follows; 1. In Antiquity, the symbolic value of purple was heavenly color, because it was a bearer of light, a sign of the epiphany of the gods. 2. With the advent of synthetic dyes, purples were in the vanguard. This chemical synthesis gave purple, historically a regal prerogative, to the people, and enjoyed a memorable vogue in the mid-mineteenth century. 3. The purple images in fashion were changed by the factors such as culture-art, technological advances, political-economical situations, sports ect., and appears in modern fashion romantic, natural elegance, classic, gorgeous, chic, and dandy images. 4. In the result of analytical study on women's purple dress in domestic market, 10PB hue and P tone were mosetly used from 1993 to 1996.

A leisure culture in the modern society is the measure of a value in one's life and has a symbolic meaning which reflects the aspect of a society where an individual belongs to. Therefore, the leisure is not a simple pleasure but has an critical meaning of expressing the culture of a country. In particular, the theme park leads the public amusement in the modern society using the cutting-edge equipments on a large scale in the postmodernism society being lead by the public. Nonetheless, Korea imports the theme parks of the same type as the Disney land of the Western Europe so that Korea depends on the foreign country in the leisure field. Therefore, in this study, the basic property of the theme park is investigated and the issues of Korean theme park will be revealed through the comparison of Korean theme park to foreign theme parks. In order to solve these issues, it points out that the concept of Korean traditional leisure space has inclusive and upgraded characteristics with many meanings, compared with the concept of the leisure space of foreign countries. . Based on this, the new concept of Korean theme park's space will be proposed. Specially, it is empathized that Korean own originality and credit should be preserved and Korean traditions should be succeeded.

In this paper, 11 and 13 layered step-down piezoelectric transformers were fabricated and their electrical characteristics have been analyzed for AC-adapter. When the voltage is applied to the driving piezoelectric vibrator polarized in the longitudinal direction, the output voltage is generated at the generating piezoelectric vibrator polarized in the thickness direction due to the piezoelectric effects. From the piezoelectric direct and converse effects, symbolic expressions between the electric inputs and outputs of the step-down piezoelectric transformer are derived with an equivalent circuit model. With those expressions, load and frequency characteristics are discussed through the simulations. Output voltage and current from a 11-layered and a 13-layered piezoelectric transformers were measured under the different load and frequency conditions. First we measured resonant frequency from impedance curve and got equivalent impedance value of the piezoelectric transformer from admittance plot. It was shown from experiments that output voltage increase s and resonant frequency changes according to the various resistor loads. Output current decreases inversely proportional to the change of loads. Moreover, the measured output voltage and current are well matched with the simulated results obtained from the proposed equivalent circuit model. Furthermore, a new step-down piezoelectric transformer has been suggested to Increase the output power based on a simulation result having a driving piezoelectric vibrator polarized thickness direction.

The core of Laban Movement Analysis, which is used for academic research purposes, is that the individual's psychological or emotional state through movement is expressed in external motion by internal intention, which is symbolic of internal emotions. In addition, the Laban motion analysis focuses on analyzing the structure of the object of movement and its structure comparatively and analytically with the past or other structures, and the analyzed grammars of the dance ultimately influence each other in psychological, social and cultural aspects 'Relationality' provides clues to be found. It also provides a resource of records in terms of the system implied from the 'momentary nature' of dance, which has educational value as a multidisciplinary research material.

The purpose of this paper is to present a qualitative case study on teaching English as an international language in Korean context. The researcher investigated the implementation process of the new elementary English program from the government to local schools to find out to what extent the symbolic value of English as an international language affect the implementation process of the elementary English program. The research result showed that the elementary teachers shared the different views of the status of English from those of government and the parents, and their differing perception of the role of English constantly affected their implementation efforts. The research findings also revealed that the public's concern of English dominance in Korean educational system resulted in the government's 'comprised curriculum' by lowering the learning goals of the English program. The findings also indicated that the introduction of the elementary English program accelerated English dominance in both teacher and student culture. The question of how to resolve the conflict between acquiring English proficiency and its negative influence on Korean culture remains a complex issue in implementing the new elementary English program.
