  • This paper is a study of rural settlement and housing planning in North-Korea. All the housing facilities belong to the government in North-Korea. which leads to the system in which the North-Korea government controls all the housing problems. The North-Korea government actively engages in the settlement of housing problems have close relations with and effects on the urban housing ones. The government has designed to make the rural areas self-sufficient in matters of the rural housing arrangement. They try to make an axis in the middle of each village uniformly and heighten its symbolism of the rural. They place all the symbolic structures in the center to express the ideas of the ruler's. thus making the whole village a study hall where the villagers are forced to learn the ruler's ideas as a way of brainwashing the people.

  • In representing eroticism in fashion advertising the sentiments of the Post-Modernism thinking of only impulse and pleasure as practical and affirming a human life may he divided into the follwing expression First1 y, Sumbolic Expression The sentiments of Post-Modernism associ ates, the direction sexual intercourse by means of the state and action of wearing the costume or represents indirect symbols with the symbolic expression of an object or phenomenon Secondly, Masochistic, Sadistic Expression. The sentiments of the Post-Modernism in expressing eroticism give people masochistic or sadistic feelings or expressions by means of protographic technigues or the state or background of wearing the model's costume. Thirdly, Homosexual Expression. The sentiments of the Post-Modernism is appropriate to expressing an androgynous and unisex look to people as a role of meeting potential instincts. Fourthy, Feministic Expression. The sentiments of me Post-Modernism also express a subjective woman and represent an extension of her ego through the existence of the woman herself by means of the body-conscious look. Fifthly, Narcissistic Expression. The de-genre such as the introduction high technology and de-campus rnakes consumers have theirself-identity.

  • The purpose of this study was to clarify the meanings of the images of the body-in-pieces in fashion design. This study focusing on the body-in-pieces based theoretically in that, and started to figure out the meanings in western art history. Body-in-pieces images were brought in art to express symbolic meanings to destroy the past, sexual fetish, unconsciousness, desire, fantasy, and to disorganize male-subjective idealistic female image. While in fashion design, body-in-pieces images categorized in three, erotic image, cyborg image, abjection image. First, erotic images in fashion design are fragmented body image, such like lip, hair, eye and etc. Second, cyborg image was represented by 3-dimentional molding image made of metallic materials, and last, abjection image representing death image used skeleton and bone image induced uncanny and sadistic feelings. Body-in-pieces images in fashion design are related to fetishism, uncanny, disorganizing traditional femininity.

  • Since 1990s the concern on essence and inside has transferred onto the surface and its style. The longing for plastic surgery and skin beauty might prove this fervent tendency. Furthermore the development of digital media and technology as well as high-tech material enabled this hope to be real in the realm of design. All these progresses and transitions toward the surface introduced more creative and novel phenomena of furniture design arena around its surface. The rising of surface has evolved through architecture, interior design and furniture. The surface of furniture can be easily transposed into the human skin. And it acquires the aspects of skin's metaphoric and symbolic meaning. The characteristics of skin effect in furniture design can be summarized as material aspects, relational aspects, and formal aspects. Material aspects shows skin's elasticity and smooth plane. Relational aspects express the reactive functions of skin. Formal aspects represent organic power through surface.

  • This study is about objectified spatial composition. The Interior Design field has grown and established its major trends dependent upon other related field of study. With this perspective in mind, esthetics on Interior Design has to be treated in similar manner. In modem architects or fine artists have defined the terminology 'objectification' theoretical principle where by unable to distinguish between 'object's type' and 'objects', Presently, the term 'objectified' became a trend word. In order to confront misconception of the idea of 'objectification', some people define as reflection of this complex society. There are five types in expression of objectified spatial composition in Interior Design. Which are free form spatial composition through artistry of artists, fantastic spatial composition by polysemous collision, symbolic spatial composition from the metaphorical of form, aggregate spatial composition by geometric collision and geometric superimposition, and cultural spatial composition. Therefore, this study aims to help understanding of tendency in various space expressions in Interior Design through searching how to express type of objectified spatial composition in Interior Design from 2000 through 2005.

The Influence of 1960's Futurism on Modern Make-up

  • Materials from the 1960's such as pearl, glitter, paper, vinyl, and metal are being used identically in modern make-up, communicating various messages as creative works of art incorporating design-related factors of expression which are difficult to express generally, three-dimensional factors of decorative effects, and symbolic factors considering cultural aspects. The present study investigates the futurism apparent in 1960's fashion and art, and aims to observe how the materials used in 1960's futurism are expressed in modern make-up. This was performed by collecting and analyzing data, mostly from related thesis dissertations, fashion centered magazines, and internet sites. Results were analyzed in terms of a figurative perspective on the characteristics of futurist make-up, categorizing it into aspects of form, color, and texture, yielding the conclusion that modern make-up has been consummated as a form of creative art.

  • The paper is the principle of a curriculum, a recent method of teaching-learning in pedagogy, and intended for the exploration of the meaning of which reconstructs curriculum by narrative through practical exploration and narrative being discussed as the form of exploration. To date, Korean education showed an inclination of the traditional paradigm centered thinking and has emphasized the results by the method of scientific investigation. Even a curriculum reconstruction demonstrates documents that produce results without actually demonstrating the actual school setting. With communication one another is becoming increasingly important, we need the conversion of cognitive thinking that can express dilemma, contradictions, and complexities of the human world of which unexplainable by traditional paradigm mindset. Ultimately, the exploration of the direction that reflects a series of verbal, symbolic, and spiritual activities, which analyze lives of students, understanding and composing the meaning by using narrative, which talks about the experience of the human world in curriculums, is an important task for us.

  • In modern society, humans' misdirected aspirations towards ideal beauty are discussed and criticized. This research utilizes a paradox to express the modern standard of beauty and the society's homogenization of it through plastic surgery. An empirical analysis was conducted of the artist's works that reflect anti-lookism. The works were classified as provocation, aesthetic, symbolic and paradoxical depending on the variety of the artists' approaches and expressions. Also, this part looks at anti-lookism cases in modern fashion industry that were given lascivious expressions. They characterized various types of human beauty. Anti-lookism is a movement that goes against this social trend. It seeks to awaken modern citizens from blind submission to homogenized beauty and commercialization of humans. This study intends to offer an image of ideal beauty that should appreciate and the concept of an ideal female body. The author hope that further researches are done in social, political, cultural and other levels of the society to establish anti-lookism.

The Characteristics of Spaces and Programs of Local Museums Examined from the Perspective of Spatial Marketing - Focused on Seoul and Incheon - (공간마케팅 관점에서 본 지역박물관의 공간과 프로그램 특성 - 서울·인천지역을 중심으로 -)

  • As recently too many local museums have been built in the whole country, most of them cannot attract enough spectators. In order to resolve this problem, it is needed for local museums to differentiate their spaces and programs related to their exhibition. Thus, the purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of spaces and programs of local museums from the perspective of spatial marketing to activate them, and contribute to development of local cultures. This study targeted historical public museums located in Seoul and Incheon. Through preceding research, an analysis frame was established based on the keywords related to spatial marketing, and then the characteristics of spaces and programs of local museums were analyzed based on the frame. The study results are as follows. 1) Access convenience refers to openness that public museums located in Seoul and Incheon can embrace accessible locations, points of interest, and convenient facilities easily recognized by pedestrians. 2) Symbolic formativeness is to express symbolic historical contents in the museum lobby or exhibition to show the identity of local museums. 3) Visibility is needed for direct guidance signs or spaces to let spectators know directions and locations. 4) Public concern is for spectators and local residents to participate in local museums to share and utilize their partial spaces. 5) Interactivity is to induce activation of local museums by utilizing experience exhibition contents and having spectators directly contact exhibits. 6) Interest is related to cultural festival programs of exhibition to arouse spectators' and local residents' curiosity. 7) Participation is to activate spaces and spectators by providing educational programs. 8) Usefulness is to induce spectators' interest in local museums by providing historical, social, and cultural information. These results are expected to be used as baseline data to suggest a new direction for activation of local museums from the perspective of spatial marketing.
