이분법 선호도를 고려한 강건한 추천 시스템 (Bipartite Preference aware Robust Recommendation System)

  • 온라인 시스템이 활성화 되고 접근 가능한 정보의 양이 늘어나면서 추천 시스템의 영향력 또한 커지고 있다. 하지만 일부 악의적인 유저들의 공격으로 인해 시스템에 대한 신뢰도를 저하시키고 조작하려는 시도가 늘고 있다. 본 연구팀은 해당 리뷰에 대한 공감, 비공감 비율을 분석하고 이를 추천 시스템에 적용함으로써 추천 시스템의 성능을 향상시키고 강건한 시스템을 유지할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 실제 영화 데이터를 수집하여 적용해 본 결과 기존의 추천 시스템보다 향상된 성능을 보였다.

A Two level Detection of Routing layer attacks in Hierarchical Wireless Sensor Networks using learning based energy prediction

  • Wireless sensor networks are often organized in the form of clusters leading to the new framework of WSN called cluster or hierarchical WSN where each cluster head is responsible for its own cluster and its members. These hierarchical WSN are prone to various routing layer attacks such as Black hole, Gray hole, Sybil, Wormhole, Flooding etc. These routing layer attacks try to spoof, falsify or drop the packets during the packet routing process. They may even flood the network with unwanted data packets. If one cluster head is captured and made malicious, the entire cluster member nodes beneath the cluster get affected. On the other hand if the cluster member nodes are malicious, due to the broadcast wireless communication between all the source nodes it can disrupt the entire cluster functions. Thereby a scheme which can detect both the malicious cluster member and cluster head is the current need. Abnormal energy consumption of nodes is used to identify the malicious activity. To serve this purpose a learning based energy prediction algorithm is proposed. Thus a two level energy prediction based intrusion detection scheme to detect the malicious cluster head and cluster member is proposed and simulations were carried out using NS2-Mannasim framework. Simulation results achieved good detection ratio and less false positive.

Characterizing Collaboration in Social Network-enabled Routing

  • Connectivity and trust in social networks have been exploited to propose applications on top of these networks, including routing, Sybil defenses, and anonymous communication systems. In these networks, and for such applications, connectivity ensures good performance of applications while trust is assumed to always hold, so as collaboration and good behavior are always guaranteed. In this paper, we study the impact of differential behavior of users on performance in typical social network-enabled routing applications. We classify users into either collaborative or rational (probabilistically collaborative) and study the impact of this classification and the associated behavior of users on the performance of such applications, including random walk-based routing, shortest path based routing, breadth-first-search based routing, and Dijkstra routing. By experimenting with real-world social network traces, we make several interesting observations. First, we show that some of the existing social graphs have high routing costs, demonstrating poor structure that prevents their use in such applications. Second, we study the factors that make probabilistically collaborative nodes important for the performance of the routing protocol within the entire network and demonstrate that the importance of these nodes stems from their topological features rather than their percentage of all the nodes within the network.

시뮬레이션 기반 네트워크 보안 취약점 분석 및 검증 방안 (A Simulation-based Analysis and Verification Method for Network Vulnerability)

  • MANET은 이동 노드들로 망을 자율적으로 구성할 수 있어 다양한 응용에서 적용되고 있다. 그러나 중앙의 제어나 관리 없이 분산 환경으로 망을 구성하여 사이버 공격에 취약할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 시뮬레이션 환경에서 MANET 보안 취약점을 분석하고 검증할 수 있는 방안을 제안한다. 또한, 제안하는 방안을 적용하여 MANET에서 빈번하게 발생할 수 있는 라우팅 메시지 변조 공격, 거짓 노드 공격, TLV 메시지 변조 공격에 대하여 모의하고, 실 시스템에서도 유사한 취약점이 발생함을 확인하였다. 따라서 제안하는 방안은 사이버 공격자에 의해 발생 가능한 보안 취약점을 통신망 기술을 설계하는 과정에서 시뮬레이션을 통하여 검증함으로써 통신 기술 설계 정확도를 향상시키는데 활용될 것으로 예상된다.
