To investigate the influences of physical exercises on lipid metabolism in human, serum lipids were determined in swimming, weight lifting and wrestling athletes after loading their proper exercises for certain periods of time. Atherolipid numbers were also determined in these hardly exercising athletes. Besides same time, experimental studies were carried out in rats to see the effects of high-carbohydrate, high-lipid and high-protein diets of 1, 2, 4 and 8 weeks duration upon serum total cholesterol level after the physical exercises. The results obtained were as follows: 1. In studies with athletes, the serum concentration of various forms lipids and atherolipid number were increased for some periods of time by imposing physical exercises. 2. In experimental studies with rats, various dietary effect upon the serum total cholosterol level after loading physical exercises were as follow; on high-lipid diets, the serum level increased upto the 4th week and thereafter kept the same increased level until the 8th week; on high-carbohydrate diet, the level increased upto the 2nd week and extended to the 4th week with the same increased level, but somewhat decreased at the 8th week; and on the high-protein diet, the level increased upto the 2nd week, and decreased progressively from the 4th week.
The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of nutrition education program on anthropometric values and boichemical index in obese children who live in Gumi city. The subjects were 16 obese boys, 20 obese girls with obesity index over 130 and 36 of their parents. The nutrition education was carried out by the professional personnel such as doctors, professors, and dietitians. The children were provided with well-balanced lunch meals and had 40min-lectures on the reasonable weight management, 40 min-games and also had regular exercises (stretching, swimming) for 90 mins everyday during 2weeks of the program. The parents had 90 min-lectures on childhood obesity, diet therapy, behavior modification, and exercise for 6times. After the program, obesity index, BMI, % body fat were significantly decreased (p < 0.05) in boys and obese index, BMI, % body fat and WHR were significantly decreased (p < 0.05) in girls. Blood cholesterol and TG levels of girls were significantly decreased (p < 0.05). These findings show that the well-designed nutrition education program for obese children can be an effective approach to help them to improve their anthropometric values and biochemical index.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the eating behaviors, the self-perception of body images, the hematological indices and the nutrient intake of adolescent female athletes in Incheon. The subjects were 112 female athletes(track and fleld: n=32, target shooting: n=27, fencing n=29, swimming: n=14, badminton: n=10) from middle and high schools in Incheon. This cross-sectional study was conducted by means of a sol(-administered questionnaire. Fasting blood samples were obtained and analyzed for hemoglobin (Hb), hematocrit (Hct), ferritin, serum iron, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration(MCHC), unsaturated iron binding capacity (UIBC), total iron binding capacity (TIBC) and transferrin saturation (TS). Nutrient intakes obtained by means of the 3 day-recall method were analyzed using the Computer Aided Nutritional Analysis Program. Statistical analysis was conducted using the SPSS 10.0 program. Most of the female athletes had dietary problems such as eating unbalanced meals, skipping meals, and preferences for processed foods. More than 60% of the female athletes skipped breakfast. As for perception of their body images, track and field athletes in particular, controlled their weights significantly better than the other athletes (p<0.05). With regard to their physical exertion during exercise, 56.3% of the swimmers and 31.3% of the track and field athletes answered “very hard”, which was a significant difference (p< 0.001). More than 80% of the female athletes experienced vertigo during exercise (p< 0.01). Also more than 50% of the female athletes, with the exception of the badminton players, had experienced irregular menstruation (p<0.05). The average serum iron levels (p<0.05), the serum ferritin levels (p<0.05) and TS (p<0.05) of the track and field athletes was significantly lower as compared to that of the other athletes. The nutrient intakes of the female athletes, with the exception of Vitamin B$_{6}$, niacin and phosphorus were lower than the Korean Recommended Daily Allowances (RDA). In particular, the calcium and iron intakes of the female athletes were under 50% of the Korean RDA. Therefore, proper nutritional education and supplementation are required for female athletes to encourage desirable eating habits, as well as to improve their nutritional status and exercise performances.s.

Effects of wild plant extract (Lak) based on Korea traditional prescription on maximal exercise performance and endurance were evaluated using calorie-restriction animal model. In acute forced swimming test with 10% body weight attached to tail, dietary Lak supplementation increased exercise performance endurance by increasing concentrations of ATP and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) under calorie-restriction condition, and decrement of blood lactic acid concentration and increment of muscle ATP content were observed. These results suggest Lak is very effective for decreasing side-effects of obesity therapy using very low calorie diet.

As for physical burden during exercise, 56.3% of swimmer and 31.3% of field and track athletes answered “very hard”, which showed a significant difference (p<0.001) More than 80% of female athletes had experienced a vertigo during exercise (p<0.01). Also, more than 50% of female athletes except badmintoner had experienced an irregular menstruation (p<0.05). Average serum iron level (p<0.05) and TS (p<0.05) of field and track athletes were significantly lower compared to the other athletes. Serum ferritin of badmintoner, field and track athletes and fencer was significantly lower compared to firing and swimmer (p<0.05). Elderly welfare housing refers to a residential facility with diverse medical and welfare services for cohabitation of elderly. Especially, community shared spaces in the elderly welfare housing plays an important role as a place for community and leisure activities that enhance vitality of elderly life. The purpose of this study was to investigate types, planning characteristics and actual utilization of community shared spaces in for-profit elderly welfare housing. Eight for-profit elderly welfare housing facilities in Seoul and Gyeonggi province were selected for this study and categorized into small-, medium- and large-scale facilities based on the number of housing units. Community shared spaces in the elderly welfare housing were classified into six space types: social space, education space, exercise space, medical space, convenience space and leisure space. Findings are as follows. Small-scale elderly welfare housing facilities with less than 100 housing units had fitness centers, clinics, restaurants, convenience stores and hobby rooms which were required by law. All community shared spaces were planned on a single level. Fitness centers was found the most frequently used while the other spaces were not used very frequently. Medium-scale facilities with 100 to 299 housing units had multi-purpose halls, libraries, swimming pools, indoor and/or outdoor driving ranges, physical therapy centers, saunas, karaokes and so on. Most community shared spaces were found frequently used. Large-scale facilities with 300 or more housing units had religion rooms, community halls, hair salons, pharmacies, etc. In most facilities, community shared spaces were planned in distributed locations.
Since the phenomenon that the consumers slip important calls since they do not know the receiving information of the smart phone in spaces which smart phones can not be carried, the development of technology to solve this problem is urgent and the cases of burglary and losses of smart phones during hobby and recreation life are increasing and especially since burglary behaviors are occurring much in places such as bathing resort, swimming pool, Korean dry sauna, sauna and spa etc, the schemes to protect smart phones during hobbies and recreation life is needed. Since the smart watch, the conventional wearable device are high price machines and due to the burden about A/S costs for the damage or failure of the machine during exercise, hobbies and recreation activities, the burden about the use is high, development of products which can reduce such burden and emphasize the usefulness is urgent and in order to solve this problem, the added value and psychological repercussion effect will be very high in areas of smart phone users and utilizing them by developing the system which can know if the smart phone has received calls at least in places where smart phones can not be carried.
The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of nutrition education program on nutrition knowledge, eating behaviors, food habit, nutrient intakes in obese children and their parents who live in Gumi city. The nutrition intakes of the children were surveyed before and after the education by 3-day food record method. The nutrition intakes of the parents were surveyed before and after the education by using semi-quantity questionnaires. After the education, the mean nutrition knowledge scores were significantly improved compared with the pretest scores in both children and parents. After the education, all subjects' eating behaviors were significantly changed positively and calorie and carbohydrates intakes were significantly decreased and vit. C was significantly increased in obese children. The food habits of the parents were significantly improved after the education. These findings show that the well-designed nutrition education program for obese children and their parents can be an effective approach to help them to improve their nutrition knowledge and to establish desirable food habits and eating behaviors.
Objective: Chicken essence and branched chain amino acid (BCAA) supplementation has been recognized to significantly relieve fatigue. To obtain chicken essence with high amounts of BCAA, spent hens herein was used to prepare dripped chicken essence (SCE) and compared with commercial dripped chicken essence (CCE) for in vivo anti-fatigue effect. Methods: To determine the effect on anti-fatigue by dripped chicken essence, the exhaustive swimming was performed. Thirty-two 7-week ICR mice were divided into four groups, which included the control group (CG), CCE, SCE-1X and SCE-2X. The mice were given daily oral administration (0.012 mL/g body weight/d). The fatigue index analysis was conducted weekly. Results: The results showed that SCE had a higher BCAA level as expected, and mice treated with dripped chicken essence (CCE and SCE) could significantly improve exercise performance. The lower blood lactate level, blood urea nitrogen level and creatine phosphokinase activity were found in the supplement of SCE group compared with the CCE group, which suggested that the SCE possessed strong anti-fatigue ability. This could possibly be due to the higher content of BCAA. Conclusion: In this study, SCE promoted recovery from physical fatigue in mice and elevated endurance ability. Among them, the double dose (SCE-2X) showed the strongest anti-fatigue ability. Taken together, spent chickens could be a good source of chicken essence to improve the effect of anti-fatigue.
This study was an analysis of sport psychological application for the kinesthetic gifted children's selection and upbringing in Pusan University's center for kinesthetic gifted children from 2009.7 to 2010.2. The 60(athletics: 40, swimming: 10, gymnastics: 10) of kinesthetic gifted children were selected among the first, second and third year students from Pusan, Ulsan and Kyungsang-namdo without distinction of sex. We progressed summer and winter camp during vacation, and managed a special training program according to exercise items on every Saturday. We attempted experimental a field application, and obtained the following implications. First, the first and second year students were possible to test psychological measurement with supplementary explanation, and in the case of third grade, it was enough possible without any supplementary explanation. Second, multi-intelligence test was efficient as the method to check kinesthetic gifted children's intelligence and useful as the basic data for counseling. Third, the character types of kinesthetic gifted children were appeared preferring outgoing, intuition and emotions. Forth, with the FAIR concentration, we confirmed that the center's program effected positively on improving concentration. Fifth, we found the potential that the physical task commitment questionnaire and the exercise activity self-administer questionnair would be used as official psychological measurement tool after the review process of additional validity and reliability.
