조류와 유기화합물의 동시제거를 위한 흡착 - DAF 복합공정 (Adsorption-DAF Hybrid Process for the Simultaneous Removal of Algae and Organic Compounds)

  • Dissolved air flotation (DAF) is an effective solid/liquid separation process for low density floc particles such as algal, color-alum and clay-alum flocs produced from low turbidity water. The removal of taste and odor-causing organics (2-mthylisoboneol and geosmin) originating from algae in drinking water is a local and worldwide concern. Although DAF has been effectively applied for the removal of suspended solid, its application for the treatment of dissolved organic carbon is very limited. In this study, a new hybrid system consisting of adsorption and DAF processes was introduced for the simultaneous removal of algae and taste and odor-causing organics. Powdered activated carbon (PAC) was used as an adsorbent. In this proposed system, the major concern of eliminating the spent PAC from the system was also addressed. It was found that zeta potential of algae and PAC was increased with coagulant dosage, and the removal efficiency in DAF was also enhanced up to 90~95% under the given experimental conditions. Based on this study, the hybrid process was found to be a promising technology for the simultaneous removal of algae and dissolved organic pollutants.

복숭아 주스의 한외여과시 겔층형성에 따른 막오염 특성 (The Effect of Gel Layer Formation on Fouling Characteristics in Ultrafiltration of Peach Juice)

  • 복숭아 착즙액을 분획분자량 30,000인 hollow fiber를 사용하여 공정압력 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 bar, 공정온도 20, 35, 5$0^{\circ}C$에서 투과 플럭스와 총저항을 측정하고 막을 통과한 투과액의 성분분석을 행하였다. 공정압력에 따른 복숭아주스의 투과 플럭스는 압력이 증가함에 따라 투과 플럭스가 거의 직선적으로 증가하는 경향이었으며 공정온도 변화에 따른 투과 플럭스의 변화는 온도가 상승할수록 주스의 점도 감소와 확산계수의 증가로 투과 플럭스는 증가하는 경향이었다. 막을 통과한 투과액의 청징 정도를 검토한 결과 청징 전 후의 당도, 산도는 비슷한 수준이었고 탁도는 월등히 개선되었다. 공정시간에 따른 투과 플럭스의 변화는 청징 초기에는 투과 플럭스가 급격히 감소하다 일정시간이 흐른 후 더 이상 회복되지 않음을 알 수 있었는데 이는 시간이 경과되면서 막오염이 진행되어 저항값이 증가하기 때문으로 사료되었다. 또한 공정압력과 온도가 높을수록 투과 플럭스는 많아지게 되지만 막표면의 겔층이 압축되고 막의 압밀화 현상이 일어나기 때문에 총저항, 겔층 저항값이 높게 나타남을 알 수 있었다.

Geo-textile 피복자재가 인공비탈면 안정에 미치는 영향(I) -식생변화, 유출수량, 부유물질량 및 토사유출 변화를 중심으로- (Effect of environment-favored Geo-textile mulching sheet on artificial slope - With Vegetation growth, Runoff-water, Suspended Sediment, Sediment Yield -)

  • 인공 비탈면에 있어서 Geo-textile 소재의 피복자재가 유출수량, 부유물질량, 유출토사 및 식생생육에 미치는 영향을 파악한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 식생의 종류조성은 12과 21속 20종 2변종 총 22종류였으며, Geo-textile 소재의 피복자재가 파 종종자의 개체수 및 시험구의 피복율을 증가시키는데는 효과적이었지만 비탈면 녹화에는 한계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 2. 유출수량은 강우량에 비례하여 증가하였고 피복자재구가 미설치구보다 최대 1/15.5 배 저감되었다. 3. 부유물질량과 유출토사량은 강우량에 비례하여 증가하였다. 피복자재구가 미설치구보다 각각 최대 1/47, 1/151 배로 저감되어 피복자재가 부유사 및 토사의 유출억제에 매우 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.

향류 공기 구동식, 고속 폭기식 및 벤튜리식 포말분리기에 의한 양어장수의 단백질 및 부유 고형물의 제거 특성 (Characteristics of Proteins and Total Suspended Solids Removal by Counter Current Air Driven Type, High Speed Aeration Type and Venturi Type Foam Separator in Aquacultural Water)

  • 공기 구동식, 고속 폭기식 및 벤튜리식 포말분리 장치를 동일한 용량으로 제작하여 양어장 순환수 중의 단백질,총 부유 고형물 및 탁도를 제거하는데 있어 각 포말 분리장치의 운전 특성을 알아보고자 하였다. 공기구동식 포말분리기의 유략감소가 거의 없었으나 벤튜리식 포말분리기는 $66.1{\%}$정도의 유량감소가 발생하였으며 고속 폭기식 포말분리기는 $77.2{\%}$의 유량감소가 발생하였다. 공기 구동식, 고속 폭기식 및 벤튜리식 포말분리 장치의 단백질 제거속도는 수력학적 체류시간이 증가함에 따라 지수적으로 감소 하였다. 0.32 분 이상의 수력학적 체류시간에서는 공기 구동식 포말분리장치의 제거속도와 제거율이 가장 높게 나타났으며 그 이하의 수력학적 체류시간에 대해서는 고속 폭기식 포말분리 장치의 제거속도와 제거율이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 수력학적 체류시간의 변화에 따른 총 부유 고형물과 탁도의 제거속도와 제거율의 변화는 단백질 제거속도 및 제거율의 변화와 거의 비슷하였으며 벤튜리식 포말분리기는 짧은 수력학적 체류시간에서는 총 부유고형물의 제거 효율이 다른 두 포말분리기에 비해 떨어지는 것으로 나타났다. 탁도의 제거는 공기 구동식 포말 분리기가 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났다.

Impact of Irradiation Time on the Hydrolysis of Waste Activated Sludge by the Dielectric Heating of Microwave

  • The effects of initial solid concentration and microwave irradiation (MWI) time on the hydrolysis of waste activated sludge (WAS) were investigated. MWI time strongly influenced WAS hydrolysis for all initial solid concentrations of 8.20, 31.51, and 52.88 g VSS/L. For all WAS, the volatile suspended solids (VSS) solubilization degree ranged from 35.6% to 38.4% during a total MWI time of 10 min. Soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD) concentration increased at a rate proportional to the decrease of VSS during the MWI. However, the clearly different VSS solubilization patterns that were observed during the MWI were explained by the 2-step hydrolysis of WAS, consisting of the initial disintegration of the easily degradable part of the sludge, followed by the subsequent disintegration of the hardly degradable part of the sludge. WAS hydrolysis rates for 3 to 6 min of MWI were significantly lower than those for less than 3 min, or more than 6 min. From these results, 3 min MWI time and WAS of 31.51 g VSS/L (centrifugal thickener WAS) showed the most efficient hydrolysis of WAS at 36.0%. The profiles of total nitrogen (T-N) concentrations corresponded well to the SCOD increases in terms of the empirical formula of bacterial cell mass ($C_5H_7O_2N$). The negligible T-N increase and pH decrease during WAS hydrolysis by MWI will allow the application of this process to subsequent biological processes, such as anaerobic digestion.

알킬프탈레이트 분석을 위한 섬유상 고상 추출법의 적용 가능성 (Applicability of Fibrous Solid Phase Extraction to Alkyl Phthalates Analysis)

  • 본 연구에서는 섬유상 재료(PBO)가 고상 추출을 위한 흡착제로 사용되어 분석 과정을 간소화하였다. 두 종류의 PBO섬유(HM, AS)를 이용한 회분식 흡/탈착 실험으로 DEHP 물질의 추출 특성을 평가하였다. 100 mg의 HM 섬유를 20 mL의 수용성 DEHP 용액($50{\mu}g/L$이하)에 주입한 결과, 95%의 DEHP가 흡착되었다. 초기 $50{\mu}g/L$의 DEHP 수용액의 경우, 흡착된 DEHP는 메탄올로 탈착되어 전체 회수율은 92.3%로 나타났다. 따라서 PBO섬유는 알킬프탈레이트 분석을 위한 흡착제로 유용한 것으로 나타났고, 이런 추출 과정은 수중의 SS에 영향을 받지 않았다.

영광 3&4와 5&6호기에서 액체 방사성폐기물 처리방법의 비교 (The Comparison on Treatment Method of Liquid Radioactive Waste in Yonggwang #3&4 and #5&6)

  • Most of the low-level liquid radioactive wastes generated from PWR plants are classified into high or low total suspended solid(HTDS or LTDS), and into radiochemical and radioactive laundry waste. Although the evaporation process has a high decontami- nation ability, it has several problems such as corrosion, foam, and congestion. A new liquid waste disposal process using the ion-exchange demineralizer(IED), instead of the current evaporation process, has been introduced into the Yonggwang NPP #5 and 6. These two methods have been compared to understand the differences in this study. Aspects compared here were the released radioactivity amount of the liquid radioactive wastes, the dose of off-site residents, the decontamination factor, and the amount of the solid radioactive wastes. The IED system is designed to discharge higher radioactivity about 20% than the evaporating system, and the actual radioactivity released from the evaporating and IED system were 0.473mCi and 1.098mCi, respectively. The radioactivity released from the IED was 2.32 times higher than that of the evaporating system. The dose of off-site residents was $2.97{\times}10^{-6}$mSv for the evaporating system, and $6.47{\times}10^{-6}$mSv for IED. The decontamination factor(DF) of the evaporator is, in most cases, far lower than the lower limits of detection(LLD) with the Ge-Li detector. Due to the low concentration of the liquid wastes collected from the liquid waste system, the decontamination factor of IED is very low. Since there is not enough data on the amount of solid radioactive wastes generated by the evaporation system, the comparison on these two systems has been conducted on the basis of the design, and the comparison result was that the evaporating system generated more wastes about 40% than IED.

SnO2 기반 고체상의 투과도 가변 소자 제조 (Fabrication of SnO2-based All-solid-state Transmittance Variation Devices)

  • Electrochromic (EC) device is an element whose transmittance is changed by electrical energy. Coloring and decoloring states can be easily controlled and thus used in buildings and automobiles for energy saving. There exist several types of EC devices; EC using electrolytes, polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC), and suspended particle device (SPD) using polarized molecules. However, these devices involve solutions such as electrolytes and liquid crystals, limiting their applications in high temperature environments. In this study, we have studied all-solid-state EC device based on Tin(IV) oxide (SnO2). A coloring phase is achieved when electrons are accumulated in the ultraviolet (UV)-treated SnO2 layer, whereas a decoloring mode is obtained when electrons are empty there. The UV treatment of SnO2 layer brings in a number of localized states in the bandgap, which traps electrons near the conduction band. The SnO2-based EC device shows a transmittance of 70.7% in the decoloring mode and 41% in the coloring mode at a voltage of 2.5 V. We have achieved a transmittance change as large as 29.7% at the wavelength of 550 nm. It also exhibits fast and stable driving characteristics, which have been demonstrated by the cyclic experiments of coloration and decoloration. It has also showed the memory effects induced by the insulating layer of titanium dioxide (TiO2) and silicone (Si).

소유역 오염예측모형 AGNPS 의 특성과 실험적 적용 (The Characteristics and Experimental Application of AGNPS Model for Pollution Predicting in Small Watershed)

  • AGNPS model is an event-based model to analyze nonpoint-source and to examine potential water quality problems from agricultural watershed. This model uses a square grid-cell system to represent the spatial variability of watershed conditions, and simulates runoff, sediment, and nutrient transport for each cell. AGNPS model was applied on Yeonwha watershed, and the test results were compared with the measured data for runoff volume, peak runoff rate, suspended solids, and phosphorus concentration. The watershed of 278.8 ha was divided into 278 cells, each of which was 1 ha in size. The coefficients of determination for runoff volume and peak flow were (0.893 and 0.801 respectively from regression of the estimated values on the measured values. The concentration of suspendid solid was increased but decreased that of phosphate with runoff volume.

산림소유역에서 MUSLE 유출에너지인자 계수값의 적용성 평가 (Evaluation on MUSLE Runoff Energy Coefficient in Small Forest Watershed)

  • This study was carried out to investigate coefficient and exponent of runoff energy in MUSLE for small forest watershed, Hwachoen watershed in Gangwon-do. For 15 rainfall events, runoff volume, peak discharge and sediment yield were measured and these data were used to calculate coefficient and exponent of runoff energy. The results of this study showed that $LS{\bullet}K{\bullet}C{\bullet}P$ factors of MUSLE were affected by slope steepness. The coefficient and exponent of runoff energy were validated with coefficient of efficiency of 0.92 and these values were suggested to 0.002 and 0.81 respectively. The comparison of the coefficients and exponents between Hwacheon and other forest watersheds showed that these values would reflect the effect of forest management within watershed.
