  • To preserve and restore tidal flats and prevent safety accidents, it is necessary to construct tidal flat topographic information including the exact location and shape of tidal creeks. In the tidal flats where the field surveying is difficult to apply, airborne LiDAR surveying can provide accurate terrain data for a wide area. On the other hand, we can economically obtain relatively high-resolution data from UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) surveying. In this study, we proposed the methodology to generate high-resolution topographic information of tidal flats effectively by integrating airborne LiDAR and UAV point clouds. For the purpose, automatic ICP (Iterative Closest Points) registration between two different datasets was conducted and tidal creeks were extracted by applying CSF (Cloth Simulation Filtering) algorithm. Then, we integrated high-density UAV data for tidal creeks and airborne LiDAR data for flat grounds. DEM (Digital Elevation Model) and tidal flat area and depth were generated from the integrated data to construct high-resolution topographic information for large-scale tidal flat map creation. As a result, UAV data was registered without GCP (Ground Control Point), and integrated data including detailed topographic information of tidal creeks with a relatively small data size was generated.

  • The purpose of data fusion is collecting maximized information from combining the data attained from more than two same or different kind sensor systems. Data fusion of same kind sensor systems like optical imagery has been on focus, but recently, LIDAR emerged as a new technology for capturing rapidally data on physical surfaces and the high accuray results derived from the LIDAR data. Considering the nature of aerial imagery and LIDAR data, it is clear that the two systems provide complementary information. Data fusion is consisted of two steps, alignment and matching. However, the complementary information can only be fully utilized after sucessful alignment of the aerial imagery and lidar data. In this research, deal with centroid of building extracted from lidar data as control information for estimating exterior orientation parameters of aerial imagery relative to the LIDAR reference frame.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the most effective image analysis technique for extraction of coastal flow patterns from LANDSAT MSS data. Choosing the coastal area of Incheon, LANDSAT MSS data of oceanic area, which has generally low values of CCT data in comparison with the adjacent land was used On the basis of the above preparation, the most effective image analysis procedure of LANDSAT MSS data for the case of extraction of coastal flow patterns has been obtained through contrast stretching, color composite, and compression of bi-band image data.

  • In this study, we selected the most effective interpolation method using both the data of sounding the depth of submarine topography and volume-production computer program. After processing the data by volume-production program, and then we selected the most effective interpolation method which nearest actual value of dredged soil quantity. Thus, these interpolation could be used for describing the optimal submarine topography.

  • GIS has the basic ability to process high-dense and precise digital data like LiDAR. But the software that common users can use when necessary is expensive and practically impossible for actual use. Thus this study set out to research the methodologies to process and service time series LiDAR data for landslide monitoring.

  • It is known that the accuracy of DEM is related with terrain morphology, sampling density, and interpolation method. However, the theoretical reasons for these correlations have rarely been accounted for so far. This study aimed to verify a theoretical basis that DEM accuracy can be assessed based on approximation theory when we generate a DEM using lots of precise and accurate source data such as digital maps and LIDAR data.

  • In recent years, civil-engineering work is desired the terrain information to be more efficient in earthwork volume calculation. One method for collecting elevation data is LiDAR. Lidar data was used to produce rapidly an accurate digital elevation model of the terrain, compared with the conventional ground surveys, photogrammetty, and remote sensing. Raw Lidar data is combined with GPS positional data to georeference the data sets. Lidar data is edited and processed to generate surface models, elevation models, and contours. Here we can either create a Tin Volume Surface or a Gird Volume Surface. Triangulated Irregular Network(TIN) has complex data structure, but it can describe well terrain surface features. As we have seen, we search the efficiency for earthwork volume calculation using Lidar data. One conclusion we can draw from this study is that Lidar data is more accurate result than digital map in the calculation of earthwork volume.
