Integration of AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel for Forest Survey Application

  • Forest Survey consists of road survey, topographic survey, tree mapping survey, stream survey and also ridge survey. Information from forest survey is important and become essential in preparing base map to be used for forest harvesting planning and control. With the current technologies technique of data processing and mapping from traditionally hand drawn method had shifted to a computer system particularly the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD). This gives great advantages to the forest managers and logging operators. However data processing and mapping duration could be further reduced by integrating CAD with other established software such as Microsoft Excel. This time study to show that there is significance difference in term of duration for data processing and efficiency using AutoCAD in combination with Microsoft Excel program as compare to the use of AutoCAD program alone. From the study, it shows that the integration of AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel is able to reduce 70% of duration for data processing and mapping as compared to the use of AutoCAD program alone.

  • Fashion is hard to expect owing to the rapid change in accordance with consumer taste and environment, and has a tendency toward variety and individuality. Especially street fashion of 21st century is not being regarded as one of the subcultures but is playing an important role as a fountainhead of fashion trend. Therefore, Searching and analyzing street fashions helps us to understand the popular fashions of the next season and also it is important in understanding the consumer fashion sense and commercial area. So, we need to understand fashion styles quantitatively and qualitatively by providing visual data and dividing images. There are many kinds of data in street fashion information. The purpose of this study is to design and implementation for street fashion information analysis system using data fusion. We can show visual information of customer's viewpoint because the system can analyze the fused data for image data and survey data.

Analysis on classification item and data display format of newspaper article database (기사데이터베이스의 분류항목과 데이터표시형식에 관한 비교분석)

  • Newspaper Article Information is an important source of information on social phenomenon with historical value. The development of computer and technology of information communication enables the construction of Newspaper Article Database by CTS and service through computer communication. It made it possible for the peoples to utilize the Newspaper Article Information easily. However, it is very difficult to utilize the currently prevailing system. There are differences in classification system of Newspaper Article Database and the Data Display Format. This survey aims to review the characteristics of Newspaper Article Database and current domestic computer communication service system. By comparing the classification system of Retrieval Menu and Data Display Format, I intended to suggest the standardized way of utilization which enables the users utilize them more easily and conveniently. The results of this survey is as follows : 1. More sub-divided distinction of classification item is required. 2. Separate classification item should be established for the distinction of article form which is very difficult to classify the subject. 3. Data Display Format should be equi n.0, pped with standardized format and signal which enables the users recognize it easily.

  • Data mining is the method to find useful information for large amounts of data in database It is used to find hidden knowledge by massive data, unexpectedly pattern, relation to new rule. The methods of data mining are decision tree, association rules, clustering, neural network and so on. We analyze Gyeongnam social indicator survey data by 2001 using association rule technique for environment information. Association rule mining searches for interesting relationships among items in a given large data set. Association rules are frequently used by retail stores to assist in marketing, advertising, floor placement, and inventory control. A study on the factors and the source of information in PC purchase

  • This paper presents a direction that can help PC sales manager establish more effective marketing strategy by understanding how they get information on the products and what they consider most when the consumers purchase personal Computer. The survey was conducted on the two groups of OSAN College students classified according to their computer handling skill. Frequency analysis has shown that consumers largely got information on the products through word of mouth of friends or family members rather than mass media advertisement. And factor analysis has shown that consumers consider the qualify of after service has brand name most when they buy PC. Particularly, the consumers who are good at dealing with PC are more concerned with the quality of after service, brand name, salesman's kindness and delivery-installation than the ones having poor PC skills are. This survey results indicate that PC sales managers need to set up different marketing strategies in accordance with the consumer's PC utilizing capability.

  • Workforce information is important in production planning because production planning requires matching a production unit's capacity to loads of assignments. However, tracking and managing workforce information such as skills and accident history is not an easy job. This paper describes a prototype database system for a workforce database system that employs RFID technology. This system tracks daily workforce production capacity on sites. A pilot project is described to explore the benefits and possibility of using radio-frequency identification (RFID) to track and manage workforce information, and is followed by the results of a survey to identify benefits. In addition to the survey identifying the benefits of the database system, the paper also presents a list of challenges through a series of interviews.

  • Current surveying and spatial information technology incorporates information and communication technology and is user friendly. However, it is not convenient to use in the field because a connection to a computer, such as a laptop, tablet PC, or desktop PC, is needed to obtain the survey results and the coordinates of the surveyed points. To solve this problem, we developed an app that can display surveyed data on a map and the current survey results through a connection between a total station and smartphone using a Bluetooth wireless communication device. The app allows users to perform field work simultaneously with office work in the field, because it consists of Bluetooth, closed traverse survey, current status survey, and coordinate conversion modules. The proposed app should increase user convenience and the operational capability of the total station in the field.

  • The purpose of this study is to present innovative approaches for u-Learning environment in public education with Digital Textbook. The Korean Government has been making efforts to introduce the u-Learning environment to maximize the learning effect in public education with Digital Textbook. However, there are only a few studies that analyze the effectiveness of u-Learning environment and Digital Textbook. This paper reviews the current status of u-Learning environment in Korea and analyzes the satisfaction level with Digital Textbooks. The first survey regarding technological factors was collected from 197 students. The results of the survey revealed that the level of satisfaction has declined over a year. The weakness of the study is that the sample frame is insufficient and survey questions did not reflect diverse factors of learning effectiveness. To supplement these shortcomings, 2,226 students were asked about learning performance. The results of the survey showed that the satisfaction with Digital Textbooks is much higher than that of paper textbooks. However, this paper is limited to u-Learning environments in public education. Therefore, research needs to be improved by reflecting both public and private sectors of education in following studies. This paper suggests useful guidelines to educators in improving their u-Learning environment.

  • Survey control points managed by national and local governments are associated with civilian's property and they are very important national facilities. Despite the importance of surveying results, Database and mark of survey control points, there are many problems noticed of the management aspects such as manpower, systems, and related law. Currently, each local government has built and operated Geographic Information System(GIS) independently by National Geographic Information Systems(NGIS) results. but it is still difficult to have the integration, linking and utilizing. Therefore, In this study proposed the functional improvement of GIS based control points integrated system for providing information and management and the establishment of first-payment system due to the moving of control points. Through this studies will be able to solve the problem of recovery charges according to unknown contractor and establish the basis of manager and user-centric one-stop integration system.
