고속가공용 엔드밀의 형상설계에 관한 연구(2) (A Study on the Design of Endmill Geometry in High Speed Machining)

  • The objective of this research is to use an analytical and experimental approach to develop optimal tool geometry for high speed machining. The tool geometry parameters and cutting process have complex relationships. Until now, numerous cutting tests were needed to acquire optimal design of endmill for the purpose of high speed machining, dut to the insufficient knowledge about process in high speed machining. In order to improve the cutting ability of endmill, a model for optimal cutter shape was developed to minimize resultant cutting force by combing cutting force and wear test and surface roughness test from optimized and conventional cutter with the same cutting condition. Using various tools with different geometry, relationships between the tool geometry parameter, rake angle, clearance angle, lengh of cutter have been stuied.

신경망을 이용한 광조형 작업변수 결정 (Determination of Process Parameters in Stereolithography using Neural Network)

  • In the stereolithography process, the accuracy of product depends on laser power, scan speed, scan width, scan pattern, layer thickness, resin characteristics and so on. Therefore, appropriate process parameters are required for an accurate prototype. This paper presents a method to determine the key process parameters, i.e., laser scan speed, hatching space, and layer thickness based on scan length, scan area, and layer slope. In order to determine these parameters, three neural networks are employed to represent operator’s experience and knowledge. Optimum values on scan speed, hatching space and layer thickness are recommended to improve the surface roughness and build time on the developed SLA machine.

  • For stereo lithography process, accuracy of prototypes is related to laser power, scan speed, scan width, scan pattern, layer thickness, resin characteristics and etc. An accurate prototype is obtained by using appropriate process parameters. In order to determine these parameters, the stereolithography (SLA) machine using neural network was developed and efficiency of the developed SLA machine was compared with that of the traditional SLA. Optimum values for scan speed, hatching spacing and layer thickness improved the surface roughness and build time for the developed SLA.

  • The object of this paper is to evaluate the chip breakability using the experimental equation of surface roughness, which is developed in turning by an orthogonal array method. L$\sub$9/(3$^4$) orthogonal array method, one of fractional factorial design has been used to study effects of main cutting parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut, on the surface roughness. The evaluation of chip breakability is used the chip breaking index(C$\sub$B/), non-dimensional parameter. And the analysis of variance (ANOYA)-test has been used to check the significance of cutting parameters. Using the result of ANOYA-test, the experimental equation of chip breakability, which consists of significant cutting parameters, has been developed. The coefficient of determination of this equation is 0.866.

Characterization of machining quality attributes based on spindle probe, coordinate measuring machine, and surface roughness data

  • This study investigates the effects of machining parameters as they relate to the quality characteristics of machined features. Two most important quality characteristics are set as the dimensional accuracy and the surface roughness. Before any newly acquired machine tool is put to use for production, it is important to test the machine in a systematic way to find out how different parameter settings affect machining quality. The empirical verification was made by conducting a Design of Experiment (DOE) with 3 levels and 3 factors on a state-of-the-art Cincinnati Hawk Arrow 750 Vertical Machining Center (VMC). Data analysis revealed that the significant factor was the Hardness of the material and the significant interaction effect was the Hardness + Feed for dimensional accuracy, while the significant factor was Speed for surface roughness. Since the equally important thing is the capability of the instruments from which the quality characteristics are being measured, a comparison was made between the VMC touch probe readings and the measurements from a Mi-tutoyo coordinate measuring machine (CMM) on bore diameters. A machine mounted touch probe has gained a wide acceptance in recent years, as it is more suitable for the modern manufacturing environment. The data vindicated that the VMC touch probe has the capability that is suitable for the production environment. The test results can be incorporated in the process plan to help maintain the machining quality in the subsequent runs.

  • A Knowledge of friction force in pneumatic cylinders makes it possible to improve cylinder description during simulation and to asses performance under changing operating conditions more accurately. Such knowledge is particularly useful, for example, when modeling continuous pneumatic positioning systems or predicting the operating conditions under which stick slip may occur, as well as in establishing preventive maintenance procedures for pneumatic cylinders. Friction force depends on a number of factors, including operating pressure, seal running speed on the cylinder barrel and rod, barrel material and surface roughness, seal dimensions and profile, seal material, lubrication conditions, cylinder distortion during assembly, and the operating temperature of cylinder components. This paper shows a system for measuring the friction force caused by a seal used in pneumatic cylinders. Results of experimental tests show that seal friction forces for grease lubricated service are clearly dependent on speed and pressure and are les sensitivity to other parameter. i.e., barrel material and roughness, seal material, and profile.

  • 본 논문에서는 강의 피로균열진전거동과 미시조직과의 관계를 밝히기 위한 연 구의 일환으로 제이상 마르텐사이트 중에 모상 페라이트가 존재하는 복합조직강을 준 비하여 이들 강의 제이상 경도변화에 따른 피로균열진전저항을 균열휨과 균열닫힘을 통하여 검토하였다.

플라스틱 소재의 표면가공 중 공정조건의 영향 (Effect of Processing Parameters in Surface Machining of Plastic Materials)

  • In the present study, a plastic surface end-milling was implemented to investigate the effects of processing parameters on surface quality. The end milling can be considered an efficient method for rapid prototyping of thermoplastic bio-systems since it exhibits several beneficial functions including short fabrication time and high dimensional accuracy. In this regard, putative biocompatible thermoplastic materials, such as PMMA, PET, and PC, were chosen as workpiece materials. Among the relevant processing parameters influencing the surface quality of the final product, depth of cut, feed rate, and spindle speed were considered in the present study. The roughness of surfaces machined under various conditions was measured to elucidate the effect of each parameter. We found that the cut depth was the most significant factor. Heat generation during machining also had a remarkable effect. From these investigations, an appropriate combination of processing conditions specific to each type of use and end-product could be found. This optimization can be useful in end-milling of thermoplastic bio-systems.

공초점 레이저주사현미경을 이용한 산부식 시간에 따른 법랑질 표면 양상에 관한 연구 (EFFECT OF ETCHING TIME ON ENAMEL SURFACE ROUGHNESS: CONFOCAL LASER SCANNING MICROSCOPIC STUDY)

  • 공초점 레이저주사현미경(confocal laser scanning microscopy)을 이용하여 산부식시간에 따른 법랑질표면의 변화양상을 관찰하고, 접착에 필요한 표면의 양상을 얻을 수 있으면서도 법랑질의 소실을 최소화할 수 있는 산부식시간을 측정하고자, 60개의 발치된 건전대구치를 협면이 노출되도록 아크릴봉에 자가중합레진을 이용하여 매몰한 뒤, 220, 500, 800, 1000, 2000, 4000번 SiC 연마지를 이용하여 순차적으로 연마하였다. 연마된 시편을 임의로 10개씩 6개의 군으로 나누고, 37% 인산으로 10초, 20초, 30초, 40초, 50초, 60초간 산부식하고 충분한 물로 세척한 후 air syringe로 건조시킨 후, 공초점 레이저주사현미경으로 표면영상을 얻은 후 조도분석을 시행하고, 5개의 계측치(Sa, Sq, Sz, Sdr, Ra)를 통계분석한 결과, 모두 30초 산부식의 경우가 가장 높은 조도를 나타내었다. 특히 Sz의 경우 10초의 경우가 통계적으로 유의하게 낮은 값을 보였으며, 30초의 경우 통계적으로 유의하게 높은 값을 보였다(p<0.05).

랜덤중점변위법에 의한 거칠기의 생성 및 활용에 관한 연구 (Generation of Roughness Using the Random Midpoint Displacement Method and Its Application to Quantification of Joint Roughness)

  • 거칠기에 대한 정량화는 암석 절리의 강도 및 변형, 수리특성 등을 연구함에 있어서 매우 중요하다. 이 연구는 절리 거칠기를 모사하고 거칠기의 속성을 고찰하였다. 프랙털 파라미터와 프로파일 특성치를 입력변수로 설정하여 랜덤중점변위법에 기반한 이차원적 정상성 브라운 프로파일이 생성되었다. 또한, 랜덤중점변위법을 사용하여 삼차원적 거칠기 면을 모사하는 절차가 제시되었다. 이 연구의 거칠기 모사기법은 절리 거칠기와 관련된 해석적 연구를 수행하기 위한 요소 기술로 활용될 수 있다. 자기유사 거칠기 프로파일에 대하여 통계적 거칠기 파라미터를 적용한 결과 미소 거칠기의 기울기와 관련된 $Z_2$, $SL_{ave}$, $SD_{SL}$ 등의 통계적 파라미터는 상관구조, 진폭 등의 거칠기 속성을 고려할 수 있으나 측점간격의 변화에 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다.
