Mortality Characteristic and Prediction of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma in China from 1991 to 2013

  • Background: To analyze the mortality distribution of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in China from 1991 to 2013, to predict the mortality in the ensuing five years, and to provide evidence for prevention and treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Materials and Methods: Mortality data for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma in China from 1991 to 2013 were used to describe its epidemiological characteristics, such as the change of the standardized mortality rate, sex and age differences, urban-rural differences. Trend-surface analysis was used to study the geographical distribution of the mortality. Curve estimation, time series, gray modeling, and joinpoint regression were used to predict the mortality for the ensuing five years in the future. Results: In China, the standardized mortality rate of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma increased with time from 1996, reaching the peak values of $1.45/10^5$ at the year of 2002, and decreased gradually afterwards. With males being 1.51 times higher than females, and the city had a higher rate than the rural during the past two decades. The mortality rate increased from age 40. Geographical analysis showed the mortality rate increased from middle to southern China. Conclusions: The standardized mortality rate of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma is falling. The regional disease control for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma should be focused on Guangdong province of China, and the key targets for prevention and treatment are rural men, especially after the age of 40. The mortality of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma will decrease in the next five years.

赤外線分光法에 의한 層狀硅酸鹽의 層間表面上의 陽이온과 Methylmethacrylate의 錯物 硏究 (An Infrared Study of Complexes of Methylmethacrylate with Cations on the Interlamdellar Surfaces of Layer Silicates)

  • 여러 종류의 層間 陽이온을 가지고 있는 層狀 硅酸鹽上에서 일어난 methylmethacrylate의 吸着에 關하여 赤外線 分光法과 X-ray로 硏究하였다. 吸着된 methylmethacrylate의 여러 개의 特性 carbonyl band가 陽이온의 種과 脫水溫度에 따라서 다르게 1723∼1547$cm^{-1}$의 範圍에서 나타났다. 190$cm^{-1}$程度로 shift한 carbonyl 伸縮 band는 polyvalent 陽이온에만 나타났으며 $>C=O{\cdot}{\cdot}{\cdot}M^{n+}$型 着物形成 基因하는 것이었다. 1703∼1640$cm^{-1}$에서 나타난 band는 carbonyl 酸素와 陽이온 水 또는 陽이온 水酸基와의 水素結合에 依한 것이었고 shift한 정도는 層間 陽이온의 polarizing power와 좋은 相互 關係를 이루었다. 그러나 1723$cm^{-1}$에서 나타난 band는 陽이온의 鍾과는 相互 關係가 없었으며 carbonyl ,酸素와 表面 水酸基와의 相互 作用으로 因한 것이었다. Interlamellar spacing을 계산해 본 結果 methylmethacrylate의 分子平面은 硅酸鹽의 層과 平行하게 놓여 있는 것 같다.

  • 본 논문에서는 시간-농도 분해능을 필요로 하는 LAPS장치에 있어서, 광전류 특성 곡선의 변곡점을 찾아 이동량을 측정하는 대신에 특성 곡선의 적분값 변화를 이용하여 pH변화를 검출하는 방식을 제안하였다. 제안된 방식의 성능 확인을 위하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며, 이로부터 약 80배의 감도 및 1000배의 분해능 증가를 확인하였다. 수행된 결과를 바탕으로 측정 시스템 및 2-0.03125 [mg/ml]농도의 효소가 묻은 스트립을 제작하여 측정한 결과, 동일한 샘플수에 대해 기존의 3.79-0.27[pH/min]보다 더 높은 3.76-0.08 [pH/min]의 pH변화감도를 측정할 수 있었다.

  • 구조물은 지진, 풍랑 등과 같은 외부의 충격에 대해서 노출되어 있기 때문에 대규모의 피해가능성이 항상 존재한다. 이러한 외부에 대한 충격흡수 장치는 여러 가지가 있다. 이러한 기구 중에서 널리 사용되고 있는 것이 기계적 에너지를 소산시키는 유압 감쇠기이다 본 논문에서는 유압 감쇠기의 단점을 보완하고 보다 효율이 높은 감쇠기를 나노기술을 응용하여 새로운 감쇠기에 대한 기초적 이론연구를 하였다. 새로운 감쇠기는 내부에 점성 유체 대신에 무기재료의 입자를 유체와 혼합하여 사용하였고 오리피스를 생략함으로 해서 보다 간단한 구조로 설계하였다. 나노 단위 기공에서의 유동 현상을 설명하기 위해서는 기존의 유체역학에 대한 지배방정식 및 가설들이 더 이상 적용이 되지 않는 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 지금까지 명확하게 규명되지 않았던 감쇠기의 열 발생, 나노 유동, 그리고 에너지 소산에 대한 이론적 해석을 수행하였다. 그리고 다공 입자 구조에 따른 에너지 소산에 대한 영향을 모델링하여 조사하였다. 감쇠 효과를 검토하기 위해 기존의 유압 감쇠기와 에너지 소산효율을 비교하였다. 또한 감쇠 효율을 수치적인 해석결과와 실험 결과를 서로 비교하여 검토하였다.

패션 소재의 색채 이미지와 질감에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Color and Texture of Fashion Fabrics)

  • Many fashion forecasting companies propose the fashion colors in every season. Modern fashion consumer respond to fashionable trends with utmost sensitivity. Therefore to satisfy the consumer with an trendy image, the fashion design must be found first, as image matters, followed by an analysis of each design element's effect on the total image composition. In previous studies of fashion image, has been discussed the positive correlation between fashion design elements of color, fabric, and form as the central issue. In this thesis, two of the fashion design elements, color and fabric are simultaneously considered to classify the image of fabric in fashion. For the color variables, 10 hues are selected from Munsell's system of color notation, and 12 tones from PCCS color notation., which are currently used in the domestic fashion industry. Texture variables used in this survey are classified by luster, prominence-depression of surface, thickness, and density of fabric. Graduate students from 20 to 50 years old and the specialists in fashion companies participated in the survey. The results of this survey are as follows: 1. The fashion fabric image is classified as 5 main images: 'elegant', 'comfortable', 'characteristic', 'light'and 'simple'. 2. The influence of hue, tone and texture is significant to the fashion fabric image. Following colors, yellow-red, red hues and light grayish, dark grayish tones convey the elegant image. The texture property for the elegant image is luster, thin and low density. Properties of fabric conveying the comfortable image are yellow-red and green-yellow hue, soft, light tones, matte and high density. Furthermore, hue turned out to be a insignificant variables for the unique image, whereas dark grayish, grayish tone, luster and prominent texture convey a unique image. For light image, properties of fabric are blue-green, purple hues, light, bright tones with thin, low density texture. Properties of fabric conveying the simple image are blue-green, purple-blue, green-yellow hues, and strong, vivid tones, with luster and flat texture.

Polymer MEMS 공정을 이용한 의료용 미세 부품 성형 기술 개발 (Development of micro check valve with polymer MEMS process for medical cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunt system)

  • We developed the micro CSF (celebrospinal fluid) shunt valve with surface and bulk micromachining technology in polymer MEMS. This micro CSF shunt valve was formed with four micro check valves to have a membrane connected to the anchor with the four bridges. The up-down movement of the membrane made the CSF on & off and the valve characteristic such as open pressure was controlled by the thickness and shape of the bridge and the membrane. The membrane, anchor and bridge layer were made of the $O_2$ RIE (reactive ion etching) patterned Parylene thin film to be about 5~10 microns in thickness on the silicon wafer. The dimension of the rectangular nozzle is 0.2*0.2 $\textrm{mm}^2$ and the membrane 0.45 mm in diameter. The bridge width is designed variously from 0.04 mm to 0.12 mm to control the valve characteristics. To protect the membrane and bridge in the CSF flow, we developed the packaging system for the CSF micro shunt valve with the deep RIE of the silicon wafer. Using this package, we can control the gap size between the membrane and the nozzle, and protect the bridge not to be broken in the flow. The total dimension of the assembled system is 2.5*2.5 $\textrm{mm}^2$ in square, 0.8 mm in height. We could precisely control the burst pressure and low rate of the valve varing the design parameters, and develop the whole CSF shunt system using this polymer MEMS fabricated CSF shunt valve.

Germination Characteristic of Rhizomes of Major Monocotyledonous Weeds in Coconut Plantations of Sri Lanka

  • Panicum maximum, Panicum repens, Imperata cylindrica, Pennisetum polystachion and Cyperus rotundus are five rhizomatous grass weeds that exist and are problematic in the coconut lands of Sri Lanka. Rhizomatous weeds are the most difficult to control because of their vegetative reproduction by underground propagules. Therefore chemical and biological techniques have failed to control these weeds to acceptable levels. Experiments were conducted to investigate the impact of depth of burial, duration of sun drying or duration of air drying rhizomes of the selected weed species on germination. Depth of burial reduced germination of all species. Burying rhizomes at depths less than 10 cm inhibited germination of P. maximum and P. polystachion. Burying depths below 30~40 cm inhibited germination of all species. Sun drying or air drying rhizomes for durations less than 5 days inhibited germination of P. maximum and P. polystachion. Germinations of all species were inhibited by sun drying rhizomes for 15 days or air drying rhizomes for 20 days. Sun drying of rhizomes of all species for five days reduced the moisture content to a greater extent than air drying. The results indicated that burying rhizomes at the depthsbelow 30~40 cm, sun drying rhizomes for durations beyond 15 days or air drying rhizomes for durations beyond 20 days would be effective in controlling germination of these species. The investigations of the experiments also suggest that keeping rhizomes on the soil surface without burying, sun drying rhizomes or air drying rhizomes for durations of 5~15 days would produce weak plants.

혼합물 실험계획법에 의한 쑥 첨가 찜 케이크의 최적화 (Optimization of Ingredient Mixing Ratio for Preparation of Steamed Cake with Mugwort (Pseudosasa japonica Makino) Powder)

  • This study examined the optimal ingredient mixing ratio for the preparation of steamed cake containing mugwort (Artemisia princeps var. orientalis) powder. After preliminary studies, the following ingredient ranges were determined; 110~129% sugar, 3~8% mugwort powder, 10~25% oil. Among the different mixture designs, the D-optimal design was chosen for analysis. The results of F-test, specific gravity, viscosity, volume and color values (L, a, b), hardness decided a linear model, while the sensory characteristics (color, taste, texture and overall acceptance) decided a quadratic model. The fitness analysis results showed that in all characteristic, the probabilities were significant within 0.05%; thus, the models were accepted as appropriate. The response surface and trace plot results showed that increasing amounts of mugwort powder decreased the brightness, and increased redness and yellowness. As the level of added oil increased, the softness of the cake increased. Cake samples received low sensory evaluation scores when sugar, mugwort powder, and oil were added above their optimal levels. The optimum formulations by the numerical and graphical methods, were similar, and with the numerical method presented as: sugar, mugwort powder, and oil at 120.7%, 5.1%, and 16.2%, respectively(flour weight basis). The above results demonstrate the feasibility of adding mugwort powder to sponge cake, and therefore, the commercialization of mugwort powder cake marketed as a functional food is deemed possible.

대나무잎 가루를 첨가한 스펀지 케이크 재료 혼합비율의 최적화 (Optimization of Ingredient Mixing Ratio for Preparation of Sponge Cake with Bamboo (Pseudosasa japonica Makino) Leaves Powder)

  • In the study, we determined the optimal ingredient mixing ratio for the preparation of sponge cake containing bamboo (Pseudosasa japonica Makino) leaves. This experiment was designed in according with the D-optimal design of mixture design, which involved 14 experimental points including 4 replicates for three independent variables (sugar 110${\sim}$129%, bamboo leaves 3${\sim}$8%, oil 10${\sim}$25%). The results the F-test, specific gravity, volume and color values (L, a, b) decided a linear model, while the viscosity, hardness and sensory characteristics (color, smell, taste, texture and overall acceptance) decided a quadratic model. The results of our fitness analysis demonstrated that in all characteristic, the probabilities were significant within 0.05%; thus, the models were accepted as appropriate. The response surface and trace plot results demonstrated that increasing amounts of added bamboo leaves induced a reduction in brightness, and increasing redness and yellowness. In addition, increasing amounts of bamboo leaves caused increases in hardness, and thus the softness of the cake decreased. And as the level of added oil increased, softness increased. Cake samples received low sensory evaluation scores when sugar, bamboo leaves, and oil were added above their optimal levels. In the numeric optimization, the optimal ingredient amounts were 121.36% sugar, 4.96% bamboo leaves, and 15.69% oil. The above results demonstrate the feasibility of adding bamboo leaves to sponge cake, and therefore, a bamboo leaves as a functional food.

인체와 노면간의 마찰계수 추정에 관한 연구 (Estimation of Drag Factors Between Roadway Surface and Human Body)

  • 차 대 보행자 교통사고는 다른 유형의 사고에 비해 피해가 매우 크고 사고의 비중도 높으나 사고의 특성 상 과학적 접근이 어렵다. 기존 보행자 사고에 관한 연구의 대부분은 차 대 보행자의 충돌 실험에 대한 실험식 도출에 집중되어 있고, 실험식에서 중요한 변수로 작용되는 인체 활주 마찰 계수에 대한 연구가 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 인체와 노면간의 마찰계수에 대한 현장실험을 실시하여 이에 대한 실험값을 측정하여 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 조사된 인체노면 마찰계수 값은 건조한 아스팔트 도로에서 0.59~0.62, 건조한 콘크리트 도로는 0.59~0.61로 측정되었다. 또한, 젖은 아스팔트와 콘크리트 도로에서는 각각 0.56~0.59, 0.51~0.54로 나타나 건조한 노면 상태와 비교하여 5.0%와 8.3% 감소하는 것으로 파악되었다. 도출된 마찰계수를 시뮬레이션 프로그램을 이용하여 검증한 바, 실험 수치와 시뮬레이션 결과가 유사함을 확인하였다. 본 연구결과를 활용하여 국내 교통사고 조사 시 사용되는 인체 마찰계수의 적용 값의 범위를 축소할 수 있고, 이는 사고 조사의 정확성 향상에 큰 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다.
