Anaerobic co-digestion of swine manure and food waste for biogas production was performed in serum bottles at various volatile solids(VS) contents and mixing ratios of two substrates(swine manure:food waste=$100:0{\sim}0:100$). Through kinetic mode of surface methodology, the methane production was fitted to a Gompertz equation. The ultimate methane production potential of swine manure alone was lower than that of food waste regardless of VS contents. However, it was appeared that maximum methane production potentials in 80 : 20 of the mixing rate at VS 3% was enhanced at 144.7%, compared to its only swine manure. The potential increased up to 815.71 ml/g VS fed as VS concentration and food composition increased up to 3.0% and 20%, respectively. The ultimate amount of methane produced had significantly a positive relationship with that of methane yield rate. Overall, it would be strongly recommended that feeding stocks use 20% of mixing ratio of food waste based on VS 3% contents when operating the anaerobic reactor on site at $35^{\circ}C$ if not have treatment of its anaerobic waste water.
The effects of the charged metal on the overall electrostatic potential profiles and the capacitances of the electrical double layer are brought out. A model with a simplified jellium and a point-charged electrolyte is utilized in the present calculations. Electrons are assumed not to penetrate electrode surface due to a strong screening of electrolyte at the interface. Electron density functions and ion density functions are obtained, which are also based upon the Poisson equation and Boltzmann equation on either side of the interface. A complete potential profile starting from bulk electrode and ending at bulk electrolyte is obtained by connecting the two potential profiles (one inside the metal electrode, the other inside the electrolyte) with proper boundary conditions. In spite of the simplicity of the model, the present model reveals the importance of the effect of the charged metal on the electrostatic potential profile and the electrical double layer capacitances. The results are discussed and compared with the predictions by Gouy Chapman theory.
Electrical impedance(EIT) for the multi-phase flow visualization is an imaging modality in which the resistivity distribution of the unknown object is estimated based on the known sets of injected currents and measured voltages on the surface of the object. In this paper, an EIT reconstruction algorithm based on the extended Kalman filter(EKF) is proposed. The EIT reconstruction problem is formulated as a dynamic model which is composed of the state equation and the observation equation, and the unknown resistivity distribution is estimated recursively with the aid of the EKF. To verify the reconstruction performance of the proposed algorithm, experiments with simulated multi-phase flow are performed.

The unsteady, two-dimensional laminar flow and heat transfer of an incompressible, constant-property fluid flowing around a circular cylinder are numerically analyzed. The Navier-Strokes equation and the energy equation are solved by the finite difference method. The range of the Reynolds number is 10 to 100 and the Prandtl number considered is 0.7. The contours of the flow pattern, equi-vorticity line and isotherm pattern around a circular cylinder are shown. Also, numerical solutions of the surface vorticity, pressure coefficient, drag coefficient, local Nusselt number and mean Nusselt number are obtained. The numerical results for the final time fo calculation are compared with the other available experimental and theoretical results for the steady state and are found to be in good agreement with them.
In this paper, we present a new surface content completion system that can effectively repair both shape and appearance from scanned, incomplete point set inputs. First, geometric holes can be robustly identified from noisy and defective data sets without the need for any normal or orientation information. The geometry and texture information of the holes can then be determined either automatically from the models' context, or manually from users' selection. After identifying the patch that most resembles each hole region, the geometry and texture information can be completed by warping the candidate region and gluing it onto the hole area. The displacement vector field for the exact alignment process is computed by solving a Poisson equation with boundary conditions. Out experiments show that the unified framework, founded upon the techniques of deformable models and PDE modeling, can provide a robust and elegant solution for content completion of defective, complex point surfaces.
In this paper, 2-D experiment and steady-state computational fluid analysis were conducted for measuring the hear transfer coefficient of pintle type controllable thruster in high pressure and temperature. In case of 2-D experiment, transient liquid crystal technique was used for measuring heat transfer coefficient for the 2-D pintle model. The experimental result was used to validate the CFD result. The CFD results well predicted the heat transfer coefficient on the pintle surface except the nozzle downstream region, where the results by CFD was higher than experimental results. The CFD results were also compared with the result by Bartz equation and the it was shown that the Bartz equation overestimated the heat transfer coefficient on the nozzle throat as much as 80%.
In this paper, through a series of comparative experiments, effects of two different cure processing methods, cocure and precure, on the mechanical properties of honeycomb core materials for aircraft applications are considered. Mass of moisture accumulated into the closed cells of the sandwich panel specimen from the measured mass of moisture diffused to the full saturation state into the elements(skin, adhesive layer, Nomex honeycomb), consisting the honeycomb sandwich specimen has been calculated. Water reservoir of 70$\^{C}$ was used to have specimens absorb moisture to see the influence of moisture absorbed into sandwich panel on its mechanical properties. For the repair condition holding for 2 hours at 177$\^{C}$(350℉) temperature, a pressure due to the vapor expansion in each cell of the sandwich panel, which may result in the local separation of the interface between laminated skin and the surface of the honeycomb, has been estimated by vapor pressure-temperature relation from the thermodynamic steam table and compared to the pressure from the ideal gas state equation. The bonding strengths of the laminated skins on the flat surface of the Nomex honeycomb have been compared by the flatwise tension test and climbing drum peel test performed at room temperature for dry, wet and wet-repair specimens, respectively.
The electric charge on a membrane was investigated by analyzing the experimental rejection of various monovalent and divalent ionic solutes. The characteristics of the separation of ionic solutes using various nanofiltration membranes were obtained from an experimental nanofiltration set-up, with a surface area of $40cm^2$ under the operational pressures between 0.25-0.3 MPa. The state of the membrane electric charge was observed using separation coefficients, i.e., the permeation ratio of monovalent to divalent ions. To confirm the state of the membrane charge observed via the separation coefficient, a calculation using the extended Nernst-Planck equation, coupled with the Donnan equilibrium, assuming different electric charge states of the membrane, was compared with the experimental rejection of ionic solutes. The examination of the characteristics of separation using three types of nanofiltration membranes showed that one of the membranes carried a negative/positive double charge density inside, while other two membranes carried either a positive or negative charge density.
By the use of a similar numerical method as that in the previous paper, the forming limit strain by coating method of clad sheet metals is investigated, in which the FEM is applied and J2G(J2-Gotoh's corner theory) is utilized as the plasticity constitutive equation. Clad two-layer sheets and sheets bonded with dissimilar sheets on both surface planes are stretched in a plane-strain state, with various work-hardening exponent n-values and thicknesses of each layer. Processes of shear-band formation in such composite sheets are clearly illustrated. It is concluded that, in the clad state, the higher limiting strain of one layer is reduced due to the lower limiting strain of the other layer and vice versa, and does not necessarily obey the rule of linear combination of the limiting strain of each layer weighted according thickness.
