  • Spiritual care is at the center of hospice and palliative care. Patients facing serious and life-threatening illness have important needs in regard to faith, hope, and existential concerns. The purpose of this article is to review the key aspects of this care, including the definitions of spirituality, spiritual assessment, and spiritual care interventions. A review of the current literature was conducted to identify content related to spiritual care in hospice and palliative care. A growing body of evidence supports the importance of spiritual care as a key domain of quality palliative care. The literature supports the importance of spiritual assessment as a key aspect of comprehensive patient and family assessment. Spirituality encompasses religious concerns as well as other existential issues. Future research and clinical practice should test models of best support to provide spiritual care.

  • Monometallic, bimetallic and trimetallic particles consisting of different weight compositions of Pt-Pd-Rh over pure alumina wash coats have been synthesized and their catalytic performance on methane conversion was studied from 150 to $600^{\circ}C$. Different catalyst formulations with variable Pt, Pd and Rh contents for bimetallic and trimetallic systems were tried and $Pt_{(1.5)}Rh_{(0.3)}/Al_2O_3$ and $Pt_{(1.0)}Pd_{(1.0)}Rh_{(0.3)}/Al_2O_3$ shows low $T_{50}$ and $T_{90}$ temperatures. Bimetallic and trimetallic particle synergism acts as three way catalysts and therefore, all the catalysts show 100% methane conversion. The effect of supports such as $ZrO_2$ and $TiO_2$ on methane combustion was investigated; from $T_{50}$ and $T_{90}$ results both $Al_2O_3$ and $ZrO_2$ are suitable supports for low temperature methane combustion.

  • Start-up is a very important task for the development of the country as well as individuals for entrepreneurs with novel ideas, experiences, and know-how. Most of the new start-ups often have no start-up experience, and the government and universities operate start-up incubator centers so that start-up companies can grow and develop. The goal is to improve the success rate of technology-based start-ups. It supports various needs of start-up companies and supports start-up companies to succeed by enabling them to maximize their potential. The expected effect of the start-up incubator center can be said to be a contribution to the development of the national economy through the revitalization of start-ups. This study aims to consider ways to achieve performance through the efficient operation of domestic start-up incubator centers.

  • Recently, the demand for pubic welfare has been expended to the comprehensive services terms of cultural, medical and psychological aspects and provision of information. These various demands for welfare services to improve citizens'quality of life could be effectively met by an integrated community center covered small regions rather than many existing individual institutions focused on specific services covered wide regions. The purpose of this study was to develop the activity programs for a proposed new millennium community center The activity programs classified into five types (administrative services; information and counselling; health and sports; leisure and culture; and child care and educational services) and each type included various unique activity programs not only for specific age groups but also for all age groups. In order to operate a new millennium community center effectively, the legal supports and systematic organizations to manage the community center should be required. Discussions and recommendations for these issues were included in the study.

  • The comparative analysis of the human and primate genomes including the chimpanzee can reveal unique types of information impossible to obtain from comparing the human genome with the genomes of other vertebrates. PrimateDB is an open depository server that provides primate genome information for the comparative genome research. The database also provides an easy access to variable information within/between the primate genomes and supports analyzed information, such as annotation and retroelements and phylogeny. The comparative analyses of more primate genomes are also being included as the long-term objective.

  • Spherical porous silica supports modified with titanium or zirconium alkoxides were prepared, and allyl groups were chemically attached to the titanized or zirconized silica supports, and the product was cross-polymerized with a double bond containing cellulose derivative to yield new CSPs (chiral stationary phases). Magic angle spinning 13C solid state NMR and elemental analysis were used to characterize the CSPs. The performances of the chiral stationary phases were examined in comparison with a conventional chiral stationary phase. Spherical porous silica particles modified with 3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate of cellulose were prepared and used as the conventional chiral stationary phase. Chromatographic data were collected for a few pairs of enantionmers in heptane/2-propanol mixed solvents of various compositions with the three chiral columns and the results were comparatively studied. The separation performance of the chrial phase made of the titanized silica was better than the others, and the separation performance of the chiral phase of the zirconized silica was comparable to that of the conventional chiral phase. The superiority of titanized silica over bare or zirconized silica in chiral separation seemed to be owing to the better yield of crosslinking (monitored by increase of carbon load) for titanized silica than for the others.

  • Sandwich elements have high flexural rigidity and high strength per density. They also have excellent anti-vibration and anti-noise characteristics. Therefore, they are used for structures of airplanes and high speed ships that must be light, as well as strong. In this paper, the Reissner-Mindlin's plate theory is studied from a Hamilton's principle point of view. This theory is modified to include the influence of shear deformation and rotary inertia, and the equation of motion is derived using energy relationships. The theory is applied to a rectangular sandwich model which has isotropic, asymmetrical faces and an isotropic core. Investigations are conducted for five different plate thicknesses. These plates are identical to the sandwich plates currently used in various structural elements of surface effect ships (SES). The boundary conditions are set to simple supports and fixed supports. The elastic and shear moduli are obtained from the four-point bending tests on the sandwich beams.

  • Structural reanalysis is frequently utilized to reduce the computational cost so that the process of design or optimization can be accelerated. The supports can be regarded as the design variables and may be modified in various types of structural optimization problems. The location, number, and type of supports can make a great impact on the performance of the structure. This paper presents a unified method for structural static reanalysis with imposition or relaxation of some support constraints. The information from the initial analysis has been fully utilized and the computational time can be significantly reduced. Numerical examples are used to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • MIRIS(Multi-purpose Infra-Red Imaging System) is the main payload of the STSAT-3(Korea Science and Technology Satellite. 3), which is being developed by KASI(Korea Astronomy & Space Institute). EOC(Earth Observation Camera), which is one of two infrared cameras in MIRIS, is the camera for observing infrared rays from the Earth in the range of $3{\sim}5{\mu}m$. The optical system of the EOC is a Cassegrain prescription with aspheric primary and secondary mirrors, and its aperture is 100mm. A ring type flexure supports the EOC primary mirror with pre-loading in order to withstand expected load due to the shock and vibration from the launcher. Here we attempt to use the same mechanism by which a retainer supports the lens. Through opto-mechanical analysis it was confirmed that the EOC primary mirror is effectively supported.
