In this study, we describe a new double layered nanoporous membrane suitable for virus filtration. One layer is an 80 nm thick film having cylindrical pores with diameters of 15 nm and a narrow pore size distribution. This layer is prepared by using a thin film of the mixture of a block copolymer and a homopolymer, and mainly acts to separate viruses. The support layer (${\sim}150\;microns\;thick$) is a conventional micro-filtration membrane with a broad pore size distribution. This asymmetric membrane showed very high selectivity and flux for the separation of human rhinovirus type 14 (HRV 14) which has a diameter of ${\sim}30\;nm$ and is a major pathogen of the common cold in humans.

We propose a method for the implementation of an EtherCAT communication bus in a Linux-based open source Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) system. Recently, increasingly more CNC systems support real-time Ethernet protocols such as EtherCAT, which is a high-performance industrial communication protocol. For real-time CNC control over an Ethernet-based protocol, an additional layer driver needs to be implemented between the CNC system and the master of industrial communication protocol. Among the various solutions for the connection layer driver, we employ a Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) driver based on Linux. The operation of the implemented CNC system is demonstrated and confirmed by Hal Meter, which is used to observe the pins, signals, or parameters of HAL.
Real-time multimedia streaming over the Internet is rapidly increasing with the popularity of user-created contents, Web 2.0 trends, and P2P (peer-to-peer) delivery support. While many homes today are broadband-enabled, the quality of experience (QoE) of a user is still limited due to frequent interruption of media playout. The vulnerability of TCP (transmission control protocol), the popular transport-layer protocol for streaming in practice, to the packet losses, retransmissions, and timeouts makes it hard to deliver a timely and persistent flow of packets for online multimedia contents. This paper presents TCP-real-time online multimedia environment (ROME), a novel transport-layer framework that allows the establishment and coordination of multiple many-to-one TCP connections. Between one client with multiple home addresses and multiple co-located or distributed servers, TCP-ROME increases the total throughput by aggregating the resources of multiple TCP connections. It also overcomes the bandwidth fluctuations of network bottlenecks by dynamically coordinating the streams of contents from multiple servers and by adapting the streaming rate of all connections to match the bandwidth requirement of the target video.

Recent advances in cognitive radio technology have drawn immense attention to higher layer protocols above medium access control, such as transmission control protocol (TCP). Most proposals to improve the TCP performance in cognitive radio (CR) networks have assumed that either all nodes are in CR networks or the TCP sender side is in CR links. In those proposals, lower layer information such as the CR link status could be easily exploited to adjust the congestion window and improve throughput. In this paper, we consider a TCP network in which the TCP sender is located remotely over the Internet while the TCP receiver is connected by a CR link. This topology is more realistic than the earlier proposals, but the lower layer information cannot be exploited. Under this assumption, we propose an enhanced TCP protocol for CR networks called TCP for cognitive radio (TCP-CR) to improve the existing TCP by (1) detection of primary user (PU) interference by a remote sender without support from lower layers, (2) delayed congestion control (DCC) based on PU detection when the retransmission timeout (RTO) expires, and (3) exploitation of two separate scales of the congestion window adapted for PU activity. Performance evaluation demonstrated that the proposed TCP-CR achieves up to 255% improvement of the end-to-end throughput. Furthermore, we verified that the proposed TCP does not deteriorate the fairness of existing TCP flows and does not cause congestions.
This study was presented how to interpret a laminated cylindrical shell having both ends supported condition are simple, and by identifying the three-dimensional stress characteristics. The governing equations were using the concept of finite element assuming the conversion into ordinary differential equations and partial differential equations by numerical analysis using the finite strip method. In particular, a function performed for the three-dimensional laminated cylindrical shell having a simple support condition were analyzed for the case composed of a specific function of the beam consisting of a trigonometric function. Layer material and layer thickness of a steel or concrete, the cylindrical length and the like by varying the parameters variously examine the effects of multi-layer cylindrical shell.
Performing continuous skyline queries of dynamic data sets is now more challenging as the sizes of data sets increase and as they become more volatile due to the increase in dynamic updates. Although previous work proposed support for such queries, their efficiency was restricted to small data sets or uniformly distributed data sets. In a production database with many concurrent queries, the execution of continuous skyline queries impacts query performance due to update requirements to acquire exclusive locks, possibly blocking other query threads. Thus, the computational costs increase. In order to minimize computational requirements, we propose a method based on a multi-layer grid structure. First, relational data object, elements of an initial data set, are processed to obtain the corresponding multi-layer grid structure and the skyline influence regions over the data. Then, the dynamic data are processed only when they are identified within the skyline influence regions. Therefore, a large amount of computation can be pruned by adopting the proposed multi-layer grid structure. Using a variety of datasets, the performance evaluation confirms the efficiency of the proposed method.
In a PEM fuel cell electrode, backing layer has tremendous impact on electrode performance. The backing layer provides structural support for the porous electrode, distributes the reactants to the other layers and acts as a current collector. It has major influence on the water management in a PEM fuel cell. Selection of suitable backing layer material for the fabrication of electrode is thus very important to achieve high performance. In this paper we have compared the performance of PEM fuel cell electrodes fabricated using carbon paper EC-TPI-060T, carbon cloth EC-CCI-060T, (ElectroChem Inc.USA) and Carbon cloth from Textron, USA (CPW 003 grade). Mass transport problem was observed under non-pressurized condition, at high current densities, in the caie of EC-CC1-060T carbon cloth electrode (at $50^{\circ}C$), due to its higher thickness. The performance of carbon paper electrode was higher than EC-CCI-060T carbon cloth electrode. The performance of Textron carbon cloth was comparable to EC-TPI -060T carbon paper.
The goal of present work is the preparation of a novel positively charged nanofiltration (NF) membrane and its development for the cation removal of aqueous solutions. This NF membrane was fabricated by the surface modification of polysulfone (PSf) ultrafiltration support. The active top-layer was formed by interfacial cross-linking polymerization of poly(ethyleneimine) (PEI) with p-xylylene dichloride (XDC) and then quaternized with methyl iodide to form a perpetually positively charged layer. In order to improve the efficiency of nanofiltration membrane, the concentration of PEI, XDC and methyl iodide solutions, PEI coating and cross-linking time have been optimized. As a result, a high water flux and high $CaCl_2$ rejection (1,000 ppm) was obtained for the composite membrane with values of $18.29L/m^2.h$ and 93.62% at 4 bar and $25^{\circ}C$, respectively. The rejections of NF membrane for different salt solutions followed the order of $Na_2SO_4$ < $MgSO_4$ < NaCl < $CaCl_2$. Molecular weight of cut off (MWCO) was calculated via retaining of PEG solutions with different molecular weights that finally, it revealed the Stokes and hydrodynamic radius of 1.457 and 2.507 nm on the membrane selective layer, respectively. The most efficient positively charged nanofiltration membrane exhibited a $Ni^{2+}$ rejection of 96.26% for industrial wastewater from Shamse Hadaf Co. (Kashan, Iran).

Recently industrial control systems have been required to ensure intelligent, high tech automation, interconnection and interoperability demands. Therefore, there is a need to redefine the structure concepts of SCADA system for wind power. Also, at this time, the integrated management system is required for the distributed development of wind farms where are needed often interoperability features and exchange information between different wind farms, wind turbines or SCADA systems. In this paper, an integrated structural concepts for SCADA system are defined. Based on this definition of an integrated SCADA system, the basic designs are analyzed on physical layer, system layer and application layer which are corresponded to wind turbine controller, the SCADA server and the SCADA client, and implement HMI. Between the implementation SCADA server and the client, their normal functions were verified at the small scale wind energy test facilities.

Communication is be classified into public network and private network. VPN is made by integrating the circuit cost reduction of public network and the reliable security support of public network. This paper analyzes the IPSec using three layer tunneling, MPLS(Multi Protocol Label Switching) integrating 2 layer switching and 3 layer routing techniques and dedicated line from the viewpoint of security. In conclusion, VPN is better than dedicated network line in cost and security. If IPSec VPN is compared with MPLS VPN, MPLS VPN is more excellent than IPSec VPN in safe data transmission, cost, QoS and management.
