Purpose - Due to its potential to improve supply chain operations, supply chain collaboration has attracted significant attention from both academics and practitioners. This study focuses on VMI, in collaboration with consignment, and examines its impact on supply chain performance. Research design, data, and methodology - This study employs the analysis of mathematical models, formulated based on the proposed supply chain framework. Using numerical examples, it evaluates the performance of three supply chain systems: one including VMI and consignment, a consignment-only system, and a traditional system. Results - The combination of VMI and consignment produces greater supply chain benefits than the consignment-only and traditional systems. Whereas only the performance of the buyer improves with the consignment-only system, the system with VMI and consignment is beneficial to both the buyer and supplier. Conclusions - The results of this study reveal that the inclusion of the additional collaborative function of VMI makes consignment a better supply chain collaboration program. Future studies should examine issues regarding the testing of diverse collaboration programs and the building of a firm theoretical background.
Purpose: The revenue sharing contract has been used in various industries and it is expected to coordinate the individual companies' operations in a way to improve the whole supply chain performance. This study evaluates the performance of the revenue sharing contract to find out whether this contract achieves its original goal, the supply chain coordination. Research design, data, and methodology: The profit optimization models are developed to represent two stage supply chain system with a supplier and a buyer. By using the numerical examples of the proposed mathematical models, this study examines whether this supply chain contract coordinates the supply chain system. Results: The numerical examples show that the revenue sharing contract does not make the same supply chain profit as the centralized system does. With the proper combination of the wholesale price discount rate and revenue share ratio, both manufacturer and retailer can obtain increased profits from the revenue sharing contract. Conclusions: The outcomes of the numerical analysis imply that the revenue sharing certainly improves the supply chain performance but it does not fully coordinate the supply chain system. By controlling the wholesale price and revenue share ratio, every supply chain member can be beneficiaries of this supply chain contract.
The need for holistic modeling efforts for returns that capture the extended closed loop supply chain (CLSC) system at strategic as well as operational level has been clearly recognized by the industry and academia. Strategic decision-makers need comprehensive models that can guide them in efficient decision-making to increase the profitability of the entire forward and return chain. Therefore, determination of a near optimal design configuration, which includes the environmental, economical and technological capability factors, is important in strategic decision-making effort that affect the profitability of the closed loop supply chain. In this paper, we adopted an improved system dynamics methodology to tackle strategic issues that affect various performance measures, like market, time/cost, environment etc., for closed loop supply chains. After studying real life implementation issues in CLSC design, we presented guidelines for the PBM (Participative Business Modeling) methodology and presented its extension for the strategic dynamic system modeling of return chains. Finally, we demonstrated the measurement of operational performance by extending SD (system dynamic) application to closed loop supply chain management.

The primary objective of Supply Chain Management (SCM) is to optimize the cash, material and information flow considering all components of Supply Chain (SC) . The plan, established for achieving such objective, is called Supply Chain Planning (SCP) . This SCP gives each SC component specific volume or operation task, should be done in specific due date, for optimizing SC. In detail, the degree of accomplishment for SCP, depends on the SCP achievement of each SC components, is very close to successful SCM. However, this achievement is affected by uncertainties about time and volume. In general, reliability concepts means the probability that a product or system will perform its specified function under prescribed conditions without failure for a specified period of time. Therefore, the concept of Supply Chain Reliability (SCR) and an analytic methodology to calculate the degree of achievement SCP using reliability concept are proposed in this paper. SCR means that the degree of achievement for SCP considering all SC components in due date. SCR can be used to measure the performance of whole supply chain and indicate the direction of SCP.
Purpose: Focusing on the complex supply chain operations beyond the simple dyadic relationship, this study evaluates the performance of the revenue sharing contract in three stage supply chain system. Research design, data, and methodology: The optimization model is developed to describe the supply chain system where one manufacturer, one wholesaler, and one retailer exist and pursue the maximum level of their own profits. In the numerical examples of the proposed supply chain model, two types of the revenue sharing contract, pairwise and spanning methods, are tested and their performances are compared with the traditional system. Results: The numerical analysis reveals that both types of the revenue sharing contract outperform the traditional system. All supply chain members can achieve the improved profits only when they determine the proper combination of revenue share ratios and price discount rates. Conclusions: This study finds out that both pairwise and spanning revenue sharing contracts can make the positive outcome that is acceptable to all members in three stage supply chain system. When the proper contract content is agreed among the supply chain members, the revenue sharing contract has the potential to be the practically feasible collaboration program for the multiple stage supply chain system.

The development history of China's big data is relatively short, and it has only been ten years so far. Although the application level of big data in real life is not high, some achievements have been made in the supply chain. Various kinds of data will be generated in the actual operation of the supply chain. If these data can be effectively classified and used, the "bullwhip effect" of the operation of the supply chain can be also effectively improved. Thus this paper proposes the development of a supply chain collaborative inventory management model and application framework using big data. In this study, we analyzed the supply chain of beer industry, which is the most prominent consumption industry with "bullwhip effect", and further established a big data collaborative inventory management model for the supply chain of beer industry based on system dynamics. We used the Vensim software for simulation and sensitivity test and after appling our model, we found that the inventory fluctuations of the participants in the beer industry supply chain became significantly smaller, which verified the effectiveness of the model. Our study can be also applied to the possible problems of the large data supply chain collaborative inventory management model, and gives certain countermeasures and suggestions.
Supply chains for agricultural commodities with their various constraints such as production lead time, seasonal production, and methods of storage are limited in the extent to which techniques like Just-in-Time (JIT) inventory management can be applied. It is beyond the ability of producers to control harvest time and many agricultural products are perishable so that they can incur exceptional losses in storage if they are not handled correctly. This is a source of additional costs and inefficiency in supply chain management. The purpose of this study is to reduce or eliminate such sources of loss and inefficiency and to identify success factors for the JIT inventory management system where it can be applied for agricultural products. Where JIT techniques can be applied in supply chain management for agricultural products, costs such as transportation, inventory, and storage losses can be reduced with concurrent increases in efficiency. In the paper, some of the problems associated with applying JIT inventory control methods in supply chain management for agricultural commodities will be reported through a series of case studies.

The ultimate purpose of Supply Chain Management (SCM) is maximizing the profits of the overall Supply Chain (SC) through increasing customer satisfaction and decreasing operating cost. It can be successfully accomplished only when SC system balances demands with supply activities coordinated by aggregate planning, mid-term level of Supply Chain Planning(SCP). However, the existing measures to mainly estimate the specific function of SCM are not enough to evaluate the state of SC with respect to the balance between supply and demand in operating. To solve this problem, we develop a new SC performance measure, Balancing Point, using momentum concept. a fundamental knowledge of physics. Momentum concept can explain the relation among objects so that it can consider the balance between supply and demand in SC operating. The developed measure can not only consider the current state of the SC system but also take planned but not executed supply activities and upcoming demands into account. Therefore, using Balancing point, we can be aware of the unbalanced state of SC in advance.
Through the analysis of the coordination mechanism of the supply chain system of China's automobile manufacturing industry, the factors affecting the supply subsystem, the manufacturing subsystem, the sales subsystem, and the consumption subsystem are sorted out, the supply chain coordination index system based on the influence factor of four subsystems is established. The evaluation models of the coordination degree in the subsystem of the supply chain, the coordination degree among the subsystems, and the comprehensive coordination degree are established by using the efficiency coefficient method and the collaborative entropy method. Experimental results verify the accuracy of the evaluation model using the empirical analysis of the collaborative evaluation index data of China's automobile manufacturing industry from 2000 to 2019. The supply chain synergy of automobile manufacturing industry was low from 2001 to 2005, and it increased to a certain extent from 2006 to 2008 with a small growth rate from 0.10 to 0.15. From 2009 to 2013, the supply chain synergy of automobile manufacturing industry increased rapidly from 0.24 to 0.49, and it also increased rapidly but fluctuated from 2014 to 2019, first rising from 0.68 to 0.84 then dropping to 0.71. These results provide reference for the development of China's automobile manufacturing supply chain system and scientific decision-making basis for the formulation of relevant policies of the automobile manufacturing industry.
