Recently, deep-learning based methods for low-light image enhancement accomplish great success through supervised learning. However, they still suffer from the lack of sufficient training data due to difficulty of obtaining a large amount of low-/normal-light image pairs in real environments. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised learning approach for single low-light image enhancement using the bright channel prior (BCP), which gives the constraint that the brightest pixel in a small patch is likely to be close to 1. With this prior, pseudo ground-truth is first generated to establish an unsupervised loss function. The proposed enhancement network is then trained using the proposed unsupervised loss function. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt that performs a low-light image enhancement through unsupervised learning. In addition, we introduce a self-attention map for preserving image details and naturalness in the enhanced result. We validate the proposed method on various public datasets, demonstrating that our method achieves competitive performance over state-of-the-arts.
Adaptive resonance theory (ART2) characterized by its built-in mechanism of handling the stability-plasticity switching and by the adaptive learning without forgetting informations learned in the past, is based on an unsupervised template matching. We propose an improved tow-stage learning algorithm for aRT2: the original unsupervised learning followed by a new supervised learning. Each of the output nodes, after the unsupervised learning, is labeled according to the category informations to reinforce the template pattern associated with the target output node belonging to the same category some dominant classes from exhausting a finite number of template patterns in ART2 inefficiently. Experimental results on a set of 2545 FLIR images show that the ART2 trained by the two-stage learning algorithm yields better accuracy than the original ART2, regardless of th esize of the network and the methods of evaluating the accuracy. This improvement shows the effectiveness of the two-stage learning process.
Semi-supervised learning uses a small amount of labeled data to predict labels of unlabeled data as well as to improve clustering performance, whereas unsupervised learning analyzes only unlabeled data for clustering purpose. We propose a new clustering-based semi-supervised learning method by reflecting the initial predicted labels of unlabeled data on the objective function. The initial prediction should be done in terms of a discrete probability distribution through a classification method using labeled data. As a result, clusters are formed and labels of unlabeled data are predicted according to the Information of labeled data in the same cluster. We evaluate and compare the performance of the proposed method in terms of classification errors through numerical experiments with blinded labeled data.
Coal pillar assessment is of broad importance to underground engineering structure, as the pillar failure can lead to enormous disasters. Because of the highly non-linear correlation between the pillar failure and its influential attributes, conventional forecasting techniques cannot generate accurate outcomes. To approximate the complex behavior of coal pillar, this paper elucidates a new idea to forecast the underground coal pillar stability using combined unsupervised-supervised learning. In order to build a database of the study, a total of 90 patterns of pillar cases were collected from authentic engineering structures. A state-of-the art feature depletion method, t-distribution symmetric neighbor embedding (t-SNE) has been employed to reduce significance of actual data features. Consequently, an unsupervised machine learning technique K-mean clustering was followed to reassign the t-SNE dimensionality reduced data in order to compute the relative class of coal pillar cases. Following that, the reassign dataset was divided into two parts: 70 percent for training dataset and 30 percent for testing dataset, respectively. The accuracy of the predicted data was then examined using support vector classifier (SVC) model performance measures such as precision, recall, and f1-score. As a result, the proposed model can be employed for properly predicting the pillar failure class in a variety of underground rock engineering projects.
An adaptive hierarchical classifier(AHCL) for Korean character recognition using a neural net is designed. This classifier has two neural nets: USACL (Unsupervised Adaptive Classifier) and SACL (Supervised Adaptive Classifier). USACL has the input layer and the output layer. The input layer and the output layer are fully connected. The nodes in the output layer are generated by the unsupervised and nearest neighbor learning rule during learning. SACL has the input layer, the hidden layer and the output layer. The input layer and the hidden layer arefully connected, and the hidden layer and the output layer are partially connected. The nodes in the SACL are generated by the supervised and nearest neighbor learning rule during learning. USACL has pre-attentive effect, which perform partial search instead of full search during SACL classification to enhance processing speed. The input of USACL and SACL is a directional edge feature with a directional receptive field. In order to test the performance of the AHCL, various multi-font printed Hangul characters are used in learning and testing, and its processing its speed and and classification rate are compared with the conventional LVQ(Learning Vector Quantizer) which has the nearest neighbor learning rule.

Generally the analytical tools of data mining have two learning types which are supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms. Classification and prediction are main analysis tools for supervised learning. In this paper, we perform a comparison study of classification algorithms in data mining. We make comparative studies between popular classification algorithms which are LDA, QDA, kernel method, K-nearest neighbor, naive Bayesian, SVM, and CART. Also, we use almost all classification data sets of UCI machine learning repository for our experiments. According to our results, we are able to select proper algorithms for given classification data sets.
There are two methods to make a distinction of deterioration of high-speed railway track. One is that an administrator checks for each attribute value of track induction data represented in graph and determines whether maintenance is needed or not. The other is that an administrator checks for monthly trend of attribute value of the corresponding section and determines whether maintenance is needed or not. But these methods have a weak point that it takes longer times to make decisions as the amount of track induction data increases. As a field of artificial intelligence, the method that a computer makes a distinction of deterioration of high-speed railway track automatically is based on machine learning. Types of machine learning algorism are classified into four type: supervised learning, unsupervised learning, semi-supervised learning, and reinforcement learning. This research uses supervised learning that analogizes a separating function form training data. The method suggested in this research uses SVM classifier which is a main type of supervised learning and shows higher efficiency binary classification problem. and it grasps the difference between two groups of data and makes a distinction of deterioration of high-speed railway track.

Machine Learning is the most popular method used in data science. Growth of data is not only numeric data but also text data. Most of the algorithm of supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms use numeric data. Now it is required to convert text data into numeric. There are many techniques for this conversion. Researcher confuses which technique is best in what situation. Here in proposed work BOW (Bag-of-Words) and TF-IDF (Term-Frequency-Inverse-Document-Frequency) has been studied based on different features to determine best method. After experimental results on text data, TF-IDF and BOW both provide better performance at range from 100 to 150 number of features.
