A Study on the Evaluation of Turbine Efficiency through the Performance Test of New Power Plant (신규 화력발전소의 성능 시험을 통한 터빈 효율의 평가에 관한 연구)

  • Super-critical type steam power plant, which operates with steam pressure above the super-critical point, has a good reputation recently and is adopted as a new standard of the Korean Electric Power Corporation. The reason for the good reputation lies in it's superior power efficiency. However, the field data of the new power plant for the verification of it's performance are still insufficient, and more empirical data are needed to acquire technologies on the effective operation of it. In this study, the authors analyzed the field test data on power efficiencies got in a super-critical type steam power plant, and evaluated the excellency of the new plant by comparing the efficiency data with the one got in a conventional sub-critical type steam power plant.

Investigation on a Prediction Methodology of Thermodynamic Properties of Supercritical Hydrocarbon Aviation Fuels (초임계 탄화수소 항공유의 열역학적 물성치 예측 기법 연구)

  • This study presents a prediction methodology of thermodynamic properties by using RK-PR Equation of State in a wide range of temperature and pressure conditions including both sub-critical and super-critical regions, in order to obtain thermophysical properties for hydrocarbon aviation fuels and their products resulting from endothermic reactions. The density and the constant pressure specific heat are predicted in the temperature range from 300 to 1000 K and the pressure from 0.1 to 5.0 MPa, which includes all of the liquid and gas phases and the super-critical region of three representative hydrocarbon fuels, and then compared with those data obtained from the NIST database. Results show that the averaged relative deviations of both predicted density and constant pressure specific heat are below 5% in the specified temperature and pressure conditions, and the major sources of the errors are observed near the saturation line and the critical point of each fuel.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the volume fraction of water and injection pressure on the spray characteristics of water/oil emulsified fuel injected from the pressure swirl atomizer. The mixture of light oil and water by using impeller mixer was performed. The spray characteristics such as SMD and velocity were measured using PDPA. The injection pressures were 7.5, 100, 200 and $300kgt/cm^2$ and volume fractions of water in emulsified fuel were 0, 10, 20 and 30%, respectively. The measurement sections were at 30, 60 and 90mm from injection nozzle tip. SMD and velocity of emulsified fuel were larger gradually by increasing the volume fraction of water in emulsified fuel. The spray angle was decreased and axial velocity was increased with increase in water content. It was found that the relative SMD ratio was increased more greatly than the relative axial velocity ratio in super critical pressure. The relative SMD ratio was increased and the relative axial velocity ratio was decreased with increase injection pressure at spray downstream.

  • Garlic extract using super-critical carbon dioxide is influenced by temperature and pressure, and the optimum condition can make under super-critical state. We can know the defects in process of super-critical extration, It can indicate the drop of product rate, energy loss and equipment expense etcs. The minimum inhibition concentration of microbe which garlic extract contains has apperared the concentration more than 800ppm in this experiment. According to the result of this experiment, we can know that the antibiosis effect in the microbe of staphylococcus and fungus has disappeared in the incubation time more than 12 hours.

  • This paper presents an overview of worldwide electric power development and National $700^{\circ}C$ Hyper Supercritical coal-fired power generation(HSC) focus on materials and manufacturing process. To Increase the efficiency of electric power generation, It is necessary to increase steam temperature and pressure. In that case, New material and manufacturing process shall be developed for boiler and turbine component in high temperature and pressure operating condition. Therefore, Much Efforts in worldwide are progressing to develop materials and manufacturing technology and to build and operate an HSC.

  • The present contribution describes the application of elliptic-blending second moment closure to predict the gas cooling process of turbulent super-critical carbon dioxide flow in a square cross-sectioned duct. The gas cooling process under super-critical state experiences a drastic change in thermodynamic and transport properties. Redistributive terms in the Reynolds stress and turbulent heat flux equations are modeled by an elliptic-blending second moment closure in order to represent strongly non-homogeneous effects produced by the presence of walls. The main feature of Durbin's elliptic relaxation second moment closure that accounts for the nonlocal character of pressure-velocity gradient correlation and the near-wall inhomogeneity guaranteed by the elliptic blending second moment closure.

  • Even though efficiency of coal-fired power plant is proportional to operating temperature, increasement of operating temperature is limited by a technological level of each power plant component. It is an alternative plan to increase operating pressure up to ultra super critical point for efficiency enhancement. It is difficult to control process of power plant in ultra super critical point because that point has highly nonlinear characteristics. In this paper, new control logic, Unit Response Optimizer Controller(URO Controller) which is based on Fuzzy logic and Model Predictive Controller, is introduced for better performance. Then its performance is tested and analyzed with design guideline.

  • The main reason to select the maxium plant efficiency through the performance test in fossil power plant is to increase the efficiency of power plant as well as saving energy collated with the policy of government. This study is aimed at unerstanding the variantion trend of efficiency and analyzing the efficiency of boiler and turbine through each of the performance test. Ultimately, the maxium efficiency of power plant will be presented in super-critical pressure type power plant.

  • The Silica gel with the density of 0.2g/cm3 and porosity of 90% was synthesized. The silica wet gel was dried and heat-treated under the ambient pressure after modification of the wet gel surface by TMCS. Specific surface area total pore volume and mean pore radius of dried gel were all increased with increasing heat treatment temperature and confirmed about 1400m2/g, 4.5cc/g and 8 nm respectively after heat treatment above 25$0^{\circ}C$. But the pore size distribution of dried gel was in the range of 1-100nm and was almost indepen-dent of temperature. As the result of external shape pore characteristics and microstructure of gel using SEM similar properties were observed between the silica gel synthesized in this study and the silica aerogel through the super critical drying.
