The Study on the Development of the Korean Elderly's Successful Aging Scale (한국 노인의 성공적 노화 척도 개발을 위한 연구)

  • In phase 1 of the study, data for the construct and items of KESAS(The Korean Elderly's Successful Aging Scale) were collected by indepth interviews with a purposive sampling group of 25 elderly people and focus group interviews with four groups. Content analysis was applied to the data and from this analysis were emerged six key categories of successful aging. In phase 2 of the study, 78 items were collected from the data of 2 sets of interviews mentioned above. Through pilot test, preliminary 66 items are selected. In phase 3 of the study, 597 cases collected from the survey were divided randomly into 345 developmental samples and 252 validity samples. The items were examined exploratorily with the developmental samples and confirmatorily factor analysis with validity samples. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the hypothesized six-factor structure of KESAS, which finally resulted in consisting of 31 items. Six factors are as follows: 'autonomous life', 'self-completion orientation', 'positive life participation', 'satisfaction with one's offsprings', 'self-acceptance', 'other-acceptance'. Cronbach's alpha estimate and split-half estimates of the scale were .903 and .845, which confirms that the scale has reliability. This six-factor model exhibited a good fit on the basis of the overall fit measure criteria(TLI=.983, RMSEA=.057) aquired by using the confirmatory factor analysis. Moreover, KESAS was significantly related highly(r=.72) to the 'Quality of Life for the Korean Elderly'. This proved concurrent validity of the scale.

Development of Scale on Selection, Optimization, Compensation(SOC) Model as Successful Aging Strategies of Korean Elderly (한국노인의 성공적 노화 전략으로서의 선택·최적화·보상(SOC) 척도 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the scale on Selection, Optimization, Compensation(SOC) model as successful aging strategies of Korean Elderly. In first phase of the study, 64 pilot items were collected from researcher's indepth interviews with a purposive sample group of 24 elderly people(16 items) and original SOC scale(48 items). To analyze the factor structure and to verify the validity of the scale, 592 questionnaires collected from survey were divided randomly into 300 developmental samples and 292 validity samples. The items were examined exploratory with developmental samples and confirmatory factor analysis with developmental samples. Two factor analysis supported four factor structure of the SOC consisted of 20 items. Four factors are as follows: 'Elective Selection', 'Loss-Based Selection', 'Opimization', 'Compensation'. The cronbach's alpha estimate of the scale was .930. This scale of four factor model exhibited good fit, assessed by overall fit measure criteria(TLI=.939, CFI=.947, RMSEA=.058). The result of analysis by item response theory for SOC scale is satisfatory. Also, SOC scale was significantly related to the two successful aging scales for Korean elderly and life satisfation scale(SWLS). These results proved the validity of the scale.

A Study on the Strategic Alliance of Domestic Internet Businesses (국내 인터넷 비즈니스의 전략적 제휴의 특성)

  • This study investigated the current status and characteristics of strategic alliances attempted by domestic internet businesses. Specifically, this study surveyed competitive environmental characteristics of partner companies involved, alliance period, types of partner companies, motives of alliances, types of alliances, success and failure factors and satisfaction toward the alliances. Major findings were: first, alliances between portal companies and content producers; portal companies and internet services; e-commercial sites and internet services were the most frequent partnerships engaged. Second, the most important motive for and type of the strategic alliance were: 'the commercialization and marketing of new product' and 'joint distribution and marketing agreement' respectively. Third, the most important factor for the successful alliance was 'a close examination of partners' core business value and competence'; and the factor most hindering the successful alliance was 'a discrepancy on capabilities of partners' core personnel. Finally types of internet business were significantly related to perceived satisfaction toward strategic alliance.

General Characteristics and Psychological and Environmental Factors Related to Successful Weight Reduction Programs in Obese Premenopausal Women (폐경 전 비만 여성들의 체중 감량 프로그램의 성공도와 관련된 일반적 특성과 심리 및 환경 요인 분석)

  • This study was performed to develop a tailored multi-disciplinary obesity management program, as well as an obesity assessment sheet identified the general characteristics and psychological and environmental factors related to weight loss success for obese premenopausal women participating in obesity management programs performed at weight reduction health centers. The results are as follows. The primary general characteristics related to successful weight reduction in the obesity management programs were education level, occupational status, reason for obesity onset, aids used in weight control, basis of frequency, and reason for weight reduction. The initial psychological factors related to successful weight reduction were less stress and disordered eating. The initial environmental factors included an expression of ones opinion and the eating environment. Animal protein and animal fat consumption were significantly less in the unsuccessful group than in those who were unsuccessful at weight loss. The consumption of crude fiber was significantly greater in the successful group than in the unsuccessful group. Psychological factors such as stress, depression, and disordered eating, and the environmental factor of eating environment were significantly better in the successful group than in the unsuccessful group. In conclusion, we have found evidence to suggest what is required in determining the types of programs most suitable for obese women prior to starting an obesity management program.

Aging and Wisdom: An Integrated Conceptualization of Successful Aging (나이듦과 지혜: 성공적 노화의 통합적 개념화)

  • The objective of the study was to cast a frame for the integrating concept of successful aging together with for understanding both elderly problems and aging, which was one of the major issues in aging society. For this, the author reviewed the meaning of aging and also made a general survey of both affirmative change such as growth and development and negative change with regard to aging. Particularly, it was observed that wisdom is a key factor for successful aging. The existing theory of successful aging and major study results were reviewed. As a result, the author proposed an integrated conceptualization of successful aging under the general discussion of the limits of existing theory and also explained the characteristics and implications of an integrated conceptualization of successful aging in line with the discussion on the definition of the integrated concept of successful aging.

An Empirical Study on Facilitators and Inhibitors of the Information Systems Outsourcing in Korean Hospital (국내 의료기관 정보시스템 아웃소싱의 촉진 및 저해 요인에 관한 실증 연구)

  • The major objectives of this study are to identify the key organizational factors that facilitate and/or inhibit the IS outsourcing in Korean hospitals, and to analyze the differences between adopter & non-adopters and successful ones and not-successful ones. In order to achieve the research objectives, we derived comprehensive lists of potential facilitators and inhibitors from the past research, and conducted a field survey on 135 hospitals in metropolitan area. The analysis results suggest that organizational, financial and strategic factors are the most important facilitators, while organizational, psychological, vendor-related and environmental factors are the most important inhibitors. In addition, it was found that factors differentiating adopters and non-adopters are organizational factor(facilitator) and environmental factor(inhibitor) while strategic factor is a differentiating one between successful hospitals and unsuccessful ones.

Customer Complaint Intention in the Service Distribution Industry : Types and Determinants (서비스 유통 산업에서 고객 불평의도 유형과 결정요인)

  • Purpose - With growing competition in the service distribution industry, the importance of managing customer complaints has increased. If firms handle customer complaints effectively, they can strengthen customer loyalty and repurchase intention. Many studies have focused on customers expressing complaints, yet research on silent customers is scant. This study focuses on two types of complainers and non-complainers. In other words, this study is to examine the value of voice complaint intention and no-action intention. This study also investigates how perceptual and relational factors affect complaint intention. Research design, data, and methodology - This study was carried out using the survey with undergraduate students who have faced a service failure in a retail store(fast foods, electronics, apparel). And if such complaint were to occur again, respondents were asked about any possible action they would take. 300 questionnaires were distributed and a total of 279 respondents provided complete and usable data. The sample consisted of 158 males(56.6%) and 121 females(43.4%). The structural equation modeling analysis was used for the hypothesis test. Results - The results are as follows. First, attitude toward complaining, likelihood of successful complaint, and ease of complaint were positively related to voice complaint intention. Second, attitude toward complaining, likelihood of successful complaint, and ease of complaint were negatively related to no-action intention. Third, commitment was positively related to voice complaint intention but didn't have a significant negative impact on no action. Forth, voice complaint behavior reduced switching intention and no-action intention enhanced switching intention. Conclusions - The findings of this study confirm the value of complaint behavior and show voice complaint intention and no-action intention should be managed differently. Voice complaint intention is evaluated positively because it reflects customers' concerns about the company, while no-action intention is evaluated negatively. Attitude toward complaing is the most effective in increasing voice complaint intention and likelihood of successful complaint is a major factor in reducing no-action intention. Also, in explaining switching intention, voice complaint intention plays a more important role than no-action intention.

The adjustment coefficient of health insurance in the successful employment package by the health insurance reform (건강 보험료 개편에 따른 보험료 조정 계수의 적합성: 취업성공패키지 대상자 선정을 중심으로)

  • Purpose: many domestic welfare programs use the amount of health insurance premiums as a way of measuring individuals' income levels for administrative convenience. As health insurance reform has been made, we examines the income level is still appropriately measured by the health insurance premiums for the employment success package as one of domestic welfare program. Methodology/Approach: we investigate whether the upper limit of the premiums of the self-employed health insured is appropriate or not after healthcare reform, which currently calculated by multiplying the insurance premium of the employee based insured by the adjustment factor (1.2). Findings: we examined appropriateness of the adjustment factors by comparing the premiums before and after the healthcare reform by utilizing the national health insurance data as well as Korea Welfare panel data. We found that the new value of adjustment factor (1.0~1.1) is smaller than the current one (1.2). Practical Implications: to improve the equity between the employee and the self-employed insured after the health insurance reform, the adjustment factor should be lower.

  • Game balance is an very important factor for game design, it is necessary factor to make game more fun. Most of game companies have been using their own balance method for successful game development. An efficient balance method always can't guarantee successful game development but it is true for game developer to need standard balance method for efficient game development. Fighting system between characters is mainly implemented in genre including action. Direct balance factors for fighting between characters are their characteristics and attack patterns. In this paper, We identify direct balance factors for game including fighting system between characters and propose mathematical method for it.

Through Silicon Stack (TSS) Assembly for Wide IO Memory to Logic Devices Integration and Its Signal Integrity Challenges

  • The current expanding mobile markets incessantly demands small form factor, low power consumption and high aggregate throughput for silicon-level integration such as memory to logic system. One of emerging solution for meeting this high market demand is 3D through silicon stacking (TSS) technology. Main challenges to bring 3D TSS technology to the volume production level are establishing a cost effective supply chain and building a reliable manufacturing processes. In addition, this technology inherently help increase number of IOs and shorten interconnect length. With those benefits, however, potential signal and power integrity risks are also elevated; increase in PDN inductance, channel loss on substrate, crosstalk and parasitic capacitance. This paper will report recent progress of wide IO memory to high count TSV logic device assembly development work. 28 nm node TSV test vehicles were fabricated by the foundry and assembled. Successful integration of memory wide IO chip with less than a millimeter package thickness form factor was achieved. For this successful integration, we discussed potential signal and power integrity challenges. This report demonstrated functional wide IO memory to 28 nm logic device assembly using 3D package architecture with such a thin form factor.
