Accurately extracting the axle distribution information of a passing vehicle from bridge dynamic responses experiences a key and challenging step in non-pavement bridge weigh-in-motion (BWIM). In this article, the wavelet transformation is adopted and the wavelet coefficient curve is used as a substitute for dynamic response. The driving frequency is introduced and expanded to multi-axle vehicle, and the wavelet coefficient curve on specific scale corresponding to the driving frequency is confirmed to contain obvious axle information. On this basis, an automatic method for axle distribution information identification is proposed. The specific wavelet scale can be obtained through iterative computing, and the false peaks due to bridge vibration can be eliminated through cross-correlation analysis of the wavelet coefficients of two measure points. The integrand function that corresponds to the maximum value of the cross-correlation function is used to identify the peaks caused by axles. A numerical application of the proposed axle information identification method is carried out. Numerical results demonstrate that this method acquires precise axle information from the responses of an axle-insensitive structure (e.g., girder) and decreases the requirement of sensitivity structure of BWIM. Finally, an experimental study on a full-scale simply supported bridge is also conducted to verify the effectiveness of this method.
Between 1967 and 1980, a total of 99 patients with a benign stricture of esophagus, resulting from a chemical burn, underwent a reconstructive procedure in which various segments of colon were used to bridge the gap between the cervical esophagus and the stomach. There were 42 males and 57 females and most were in their twenties and thirties. The most frequent site of the stricture was upper 1/3 of the thoracic esophagus [48.5%] and the next most common site was the low cervical esophagus [23.2%]. In 89 cases, the right colon with or without the terminal ileum was used as the conduit in an isoperistaltic manner and in 10, the left colon was used in an antiperistaltic position, because the right colon was not suitable as the conduit. There was a higher incidence of regurgitation [90% vs 0%], leakage at cervical anastomosis [80% vs 27%] and stenosis at anastomotic site [70% vs 15%] in an antiperistaltic left colon anastomosis, as compared to isoperistaltic right colon anastomosis. This was felt to be due to the orad peristaltic motion of the transplanted colon which acted as a functional obstruction distal to the esophagocolic suture line, resulting in breakdown of the anastomosis, leakage and eventual stenosis at the site of anastomosis. In conclusion, colon is useful and effective conduit as an esophageal substitute. Either the right or the left colon can be used for this purpose, provided that it is placed in an isoperistaltic position to minimize some of the complications listed above.
Instead of sensory evaluation, we designed an evaluation method of the setting function of hairstyling products, based on an original theory focusing on changes in bending stress observed when a load with continuous bending is applied to human hair. Specifically, we developed a device to measure bending stress to quickly and objectively evaluate the condition of human hair, particularly its dynamic properties such as the setting function, following the application of hairstyling products. This device generates a load with continuous bending while applying a pendulum motion to a hair tress, one end of which is anchored. The setting function and holding power of resins of various molecular weight and ionic properties were evaluated using this device. The results demonstrated a close correlation with those obtained by experts' sensory evaluation. The evaluation results of bending stress and holding rate confirmed that the combined use of two different resins could improve the function of setting preparations. Evaluation using this device was able to substitute for sensory evaluation, and offers quick objective evaluation and detection of changes in the holding power of hairstyling products over time. We conclude that evaluation using this device is a promising new method.

Pacman is known as the terminator of the loved classic game in the world. In this paper, classic pacman game without using a keyboard or a mouse we should be able to play the game with simple hand gestures. In other words, It use motion game to be a substitute for the hand direction key using the center coordinates. Also, movements of the monster is to be replaced depending on your hand movements by extracting a pointer of hand taking pictures in the MFC dialog using Cam. In this paper, YCbCbr image is convert to RGB images to extract skin color, and multiplication operations and hybrid median filtering was used in order to obtain better images. And it is used to obtain movement of the hand area based on obtain the center of gravity of the hand region.

One of the most important roles in the nonlinear dynamic structural analysis is to select a proper ground excitation, which dominates the response of a structure. Because of the lack of recorded accelerograms in Korea, a stochastic model of ground excitation with various dynamic properties rather than recorded accelerograms is necessarily required. If all information is not available at site, the information from other sites with similar features can be used by the procedure of seismic hazard analysis. Eliopoulos and Wen identified the parameters of the ground motion model by the empirical relations or expressions developed by Trifunac and Lee. Because the relations used in the parameter identification are largely empirical, it is required to apply the artificial neural networks instead of the empirical model. Additionally, neural networks have the advantage of the empirical model that it can continuously re-train the new recorded data, so that it can adapt to the change of the enormous data. Based on the redefined traditional processes, three neural-networks-based models (FAS_NN, PSD_NN and INT_NN) are proposed to individually substitute the Fourier amplitude spectrum, the parameter identification of power spectral density function and intensity function. The paper describes the first half of the research for the development of Neural-Networks-based model for the generation of an Artificial earthquake and a Response Spectrum(NNARS).

The paper describes the second half of the research for the development of Neural-Networks-based model for the generation of an Artificial earthquake and a Response Spectrum(NNARS). Based on the redefined traditional processes related to the generation of an earthquake acceleration response spectrum and design spectrum, four neural-networks-based models are proposed to substitute the traditional processes. RS_NN tries to directly generate acceleration response spectrum with basic data that are magnitude, epicentral distance, site conditions and focal depth. The test results of RS_NN are not good because of the characteristics of white noise, which is randomly generated. ARS_NN solve this problem by the introduction of the average concept. IARS_NN has a role to inverse the ARS_NN, so that is applied to generate a ground motion accelerogram compatible with the shape of a response spectrum. Additionally, DS_NN directly produces design spectrum with basic data. As these four neural networks are simulated as a step by step, the paper describes the methods to generate a response spectrum and a design spectrum using the neural networks.

The Standard ASCE 61-14 proposes the Substitute Structure Method (SSM) as a Nonlinear Static Procedure (NSP) to estimate nonlinear displacement demands at the center of mass of piers or wharves under seismic actions. To account for bidirectional earthquake excitation according to the Standard, results from independent pushover analyses in each orthogonal direction should be combined using either a 100/30 directional approach or a procedure referred to as the Dynamic Magnification Factor, DMF. The main purpose of this paper is to present an evaluation of these NSPs in relation to four wharf model structures on soil conditions ranging from soft to medium dense clay. Results from nonlinear static analyses were compared against benchmark values of relevant Engineering Design Parameters, EDPs. The latter are defined as the geometric mean demands that are obtained from nonlinear dynamic analyses using a set of 30 two-component ground motion records. It was found that SSM provides close estimates of the benchmark displacement demands at the center of mass of the wharf structures. Furthermore, for the most critical pile connection at a landside corner of the wharf the 100/30 and DMF approaches produced displacement, curvature, and force demands that were reasonably comparable to corresponding benchmark values.
Purpose: To assess the effectiveness of mixed grafts in lumbar posterolateral fusion (PLF) by comparing the bone union rates of an autobone with a bone substitute mixed graft. Materials and Methods: The patients were followed-up for at least two years after PLF and divided into four groups according to the mixed graft retrospectively. Group I was 48 cases using a femoral head allobone. Group II was 38 cases using β-tricalcium phosphate. Group III was 92 cases using biphasic calcium phosphate. Group IV was 38 cases using biphasic calcium phosphate and autologous bone marrow. Union was evaluated by the work up simple radiographs after two years from PLF. Union was defined if the radiographs demonstrated a bilateral continuity in the fusion mass between the cephalad and caudal transverse processes with less than 2° of angular motion and no translation between the vertebrae at the level of fusion on the lateral flexion-extension radiographs. Results: According to simple radiographs after two years from PLF, the rate of union was highest in Group IV using local autobone, biphasic calcium phosphate and autologous bone marrow mixed graft. Conclusion: Biphasic calcium phosphate is an osteoconductive bone substitute that increases the bio-absorbability and mechanical strength. Autologous bone marrow has osteoinductive and osteogenic properties. These features can increase the rate of bone union. Therefore, a local autobone, biphasic calcium phosphate and autologous bone marrow mixed graft can be considered an effective bone graft substitute for lumbar PLF instead of an autobone graft.
The various total replacement artificial discs have developed because spinal fusion has shown a lesser mobility of an operated segment and an accelerated degeneration at adjacent discs. But almost artificial discs have not yet been reached on the substitute surgery of fusion because many problems such as those clinical success rates were not more than them of fusion have not solved. In this paper, vertically inserted assemble-screw fixture in vertebrae was proposed to improve the fixed capability of artificial disc. And also, to evaluate the design suitability of newly designed screw-type, including fixtures of commercial discs such as wedge and plate type, the 1/4 finite element model with a vertebra and various implanted fixtures were generated, and next, 3 bending motions such as flexion, bending and twisting under the moment of 10Nm and compression under the force of 1000N were considered, respectively and finally, FE analyses were performed. Results of three fixture types were compared, such as Range of Motion and maximal stress, and so on. For ROM, the screw type was average 58% less than the wedge type and was average 42% less than the plate type under all loading conditions. For average stress ratio at closer nodes between vertebra and each fixture, the wedge type was the lowest as minimum 0.02 in twisting, screw types were the highest as maximum 0.28 in compression. As the results of using cement material, it was predicted that the instability problem of the wedge type was better solved. The screw type which could be increased by implanting depth according to the number of assembling mid screws, showed that the decreased tendency of ROMs and maximal cancellous bone stresses. In further study, controlling the number of assembling screws that was suitable for a patient's bone quality, development of surgical tools and keeping on design supplementations, which will be able to develop the competitive artificial disc.

Previously sailing yachts or leisure yachts were mainly made from FRP(Fiber glass reinforced plastic) in the small shipbuilding, but recently there is a trend to replace it for steel or aluminum to substitute FRP for environmental friendly materials. Although It have to need a many checked item in case of hull girder strength and transverse strength normally evaluate base on calculation of class guideline so called direct calculation method. Otherwise. this method of initial structural design considered enough for safety margin on the structure. But, case of small craft must consider for evaluating local strength through rational method. In this paper, check the bow structure members for satisfying results base on allowable stress criterion of damaged bow structure by dynamic load due to slamming and bottom impact load due to pitching motion through finite element analysis. and investigate engine bed structure considering engine weight load and transverse wave load.
