  • The faithful bi-module \ulcornerM\ulcorner with its endomorphism ring End\ulcorner(M) such that M\ulcorner is flat (in other words, End\ulcorner(M)-flat, or endo-flat)and with a commutative ring R containing an identity has been studied in this paper. The chain conditions of a faithful endo-flat module \ulcornerM relative to those of the endomorphism ring End\ulcorner(M) having the zero annihilator of each non-zero endomorphism are studied.

  • In this article, we generalize the concepts of several classes of domains (which are related to a Dedekind domain) to a torsion-free module and it is shown that for a faithful multiplication module over an integral domain, we characterize Dedekind modules, cyclic submodule modules, and discrete valuation modules in terms of factorable modules and a sort of Euclidean algorithm.

  • Let R be a commutative ring and let M be an R-module. Let X = $Spec_R(M)$ be the prime spectrum of M with Zariski topology. In this paper, by using the topological properties of X, we will obtain some conditions under which $Max_R(M)=Spec_R(M)$.

  • In this article, we characterize t-Pr$\ddot{u}$fer modules in the class of faithful multiplication modules. As a corollary, we also characterize Krull modules. Several properties of a $t$-invertible submodule of a faithful multiplication module are given.

  • We say that a module M is weak lifting if M is supplemented and every supplement submodule of M is a direct summand. The module M is called lifting, if it is weak lifting and amply supplemented. This paper investigates the structure of weak lifting modules and lifting modules having small radical over commutative noetherian rings.

  • Let M be a fixed left R-module. For a left R-module X, we introduce the notion of M-prime (resp. M-semiprime) submodule of X such that in the case M=R, it coincides with prime (resp. semiprime) submodule of X. Other concepts encountered in the general theory are M-$m$-system sets, M-$n$-system sets, M-prime radical and M-Baer's lower nilradical of modules. Relationships between these concepts and basic properties are established. In particular, we identify certain submodules of M, called "primeM-ideals", that play a role analogous to that of prime (two-sided) ideals in the ring R. Using this definition, we show that if M satisfies condition H (defined later) and $Hom_R(M,X){\neq}0$ for all modules X in the category ${\sigma}[M]$, then there is a one-to-one correspondence between isomorphism classes of indecomposable M-injective modules in ${\sigma}[M]$ and prime M-ideals of M. Also, we investigate the prime M-ideals, M-prime submodules and M-prime radical of Artinian modules.

  • This paper focuses on the engineering trade-offs in designing capacitor voltage balancing schemes for modular multilevel converters (MMC) HVDC: regulation performance and switching loss. MMC is driven by the on/off switch operation of numerous submodules and the key design concern is balancing submodule capacitor voltages minimizing switching transition among submodules because it represents the voltage regulation performance and system loss. This paper first introduces the state-of-the-art MMC-HVDC submodule capacitor voltage balancing methods reported in the literatures and discusses the trade-offs in designing these methods for HVDC application. This paper further proposes a submodule capacitor balancing scheme exploiting a control signal to flexibly interchange between the on-state and the off-state submodules. The proposed scheme enables desired performance-based voltage regulation and avoids unnecessary switching transitions among submodules, consequently reducing the switching loss. The flexibility and controllability particularly fit in high-level MMC HVDC applications where the aforementioned design trade-offs become more crucial. Simulation studies for MMC HVDC are performed to demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed capacitor voltage balancing algorithm.
