천연해수 중 온도 변화에 따라 전착한 환경친화적인 석회질 피막의 특성 분석 (Properties analysis of environment friendly calcareous deposit films electrodeposited at various temperature conditions in natural seawater)

  • 일반적으로 선박 및 해양구조물, 그리고 심해 설비의 가장 적절한 부식 방지법으로는 음극방식법이 널리 사용되고 있다. 해수 중에 이러한 음극방식법이 적용될 경우, 음극전류가 용존 해 있는 산소를 환원시킴으로써 음극분극 된 설비 표면에 수산화 이온을 다량 발생시키게 되고, 이로 인하여 계면에서의 pH는 증가하게 된다. 또한 탄산이온의 농도 역시 증가하게 되어, 바닷물 속에 용해되어 있는 마그네슘과 칼슘 이온들이 이들 수산화 이온 및 탄산 이온과 결합함으로써, 수산화마그네슘 및 탄산칼슘을 주성분으로 하는 무기물 층이 설비 표면에 석출하게 되는데 이렇게 형성된 피막을 일반적으로 "석회질 피막"이라고 한다. 이러한 무기물 층은 해수라는 부식환경에서 모재를 보호하는 물리적 장벽으로서의 역할을 함은 물론 음극방식을 할 때 요구되는 전류밀도를 감소시키는 역할을 하게 된다. 한편 이러한 해수 중에서의 석회질 피막의 형성은 전위, 전류, pH, 온도, 시간 등을 포함한 많은 변수들에 의해 변화하게 되는데, 이에 본 연구에서는 여러 가지 변수들 중 특히나 해수의 온도 및 시험편 표면 조건에 따른 무기물 층의 피막구조변화 및 특성변화를 살펴봄으로서 환경친화적인 코팅막의 개발에 대한 설계지침을 제공 할 수 있었다.

  • 현재 해안구조물의 설계시에는 현지관측을 토대로 한 Goda식(Goda, 1974)과 같은 경험식이나 2차원적인 수리수치모형실험을 통한 파력값을 많이 사용하고 있다. 하지만, 이러한 2차원 해석결과들은 실해역에 설치된 구조물의 평면배치형상에 따라 변화하는 작용파력의 3차원 구조를 재현하기에는 무리가 있는 듯 하다. 특히, 혼성방파제와 같은 대형구조물의 항외측과 항내측에서 위상차가 발생하는 경우에는 구조물의 단면별로 파력이 각기 다르게 작용할 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구에서는, 해안구조물에 작용하는 파력의 3차원구조를 명확히 하기 위하여, 투과성구조물 및 쇄파현상에도 적용이 가능한 기존의 수치해석기법(Hur and Mizutani, 2003)에 Large Eddy Simulation(LES)기법을 도입한 새로운 3차원 수치해석기법을 제안하였으며, 이 기법을 이용하여 얻어진 잠제상 구조물에서의 작용파력 계산치를 기존의 수리모형실험치와 비교한 결과, 좋은 일치성을 확인하였다. 또한, 대형해안구조물 중 혼성방파제를 본 연구의 대상구조물로하여, 사석마운드로의 투과 및 개구부로의 회절의 영향으로 인해 발생하는 위상차를 고려한 3차원 파력구조에 관해 논의하였으며, 2차원 해석으로는 규명할 수 없었던 3차원적인 동적 파력특성을 파악할 수 있었다.

저 마루높이 구조물의 피복재 안정성 실험: Tetrapod 피복 조건 (Experiments for Amour Stability of Low Crested Structure Covered by Tetrapods)

  • 이안제와 잠제(인공리프)와 같은 저 마루높이 구조물은 수중구조물은 연안역의 침식 등의 대책으로 일반적으로 사용되고 있다. 이러한 구조물의 피복재 안정성은 비월파조건의 구조물 보다 낮을 수 있다. 기존 연구에서는 대부분 사석으로 피복된 구조물을 대상으로 안정성을 검토하였다. 본 연구에서는 테트라포드로 피복된 저 마루높이 구조물과 수중구조물을 대상으로 안정성을 검토하기 위해 2차원 수리실험을 수행하였다. 피복재 안정성은 구조물 상부, 전사면 및 후사면을 대상으로 파형경사와 여유고를 변화시키며 검토하였다. 피복재의 주된 피해는 전사면 상부와 바다측 마루부에서 발생하였다. 실험결과를 이용하여 테트라포드의 안정계수를 산정할 수 있는 경험식을 제안하였다.

수중구조물을 위한 가물막이 설계 및 시공사례에 대한 연구 (A Case Study on Design and Construction of Cofferdam for Hydraulic Structure)

  • Cofferdam is a temporary levee or dam structure built by using sheet pile or earth materials to prevent water infiltration during construction work of bridge, dam, harbour dock, or hydraulic structures in the river. In this regard, it is required to secure cutoff ability for dry work and workability for rapid installation and removal of the temporary dam or levee structures. In this paper, case studies for design and construction of cofferdam were performed, and water diversion method was briefed with some examples of cofferdam type as well. For the case study details of design and construction were reviewed based on cofferdams under construction related to 16 submerged weirs of "The 4-river restoration project" and dam type cofferdam respectively. From the review, it was known that the method for changing the water flow is selected based on the data from geological and geo-hydraulic site investigation in order to mitigate environmental effects by making sure if the design cross-sectional area of flow and maximum working days are sufficiently guaranteed. Finally, the primary findings and main conclusion derived are summarized that determination of applicable type of cofferdam should be checked by case study and meet design requirements such as water inflow control, constructability.

부가수 질량을 고려한 외팔판의 고유진동 해석 (Natural Frequency Analysis of Cantilever Plates with Added Mass)

  • The high-skewed and/or composite propellers of current interests to reduce the ship vibration and to increase the acoustic performance are likely to be exposed to the unexpected structural problems. One typical example is that the added mass effect on the propellers working in the non-uniform wake field reduces the natural frequency of the propeller leading to the resonance with the low-frequency excitation of the external forces. To avoid this resonance problem during the design stage, the technique of fluid-structure interaction has been developed, but the higher-order effect of the blade geometry deformation is not yet considered in evaluating the added mass effects. In this paper the fluid boundary-value problem is formulated by the potential-based panel method in the inviscid fluid region with the velocity inflow due to the body deformation, and the structural response of the solid body under the hydrodynamic loading is solved by applying the finite element method which implements the 20-node iso-parametric element model. The fluid-structure problem is solved iteratively. A basic fluid-sturcture interaction study is performed with the simple rectangular plates of thin thickness with various planform submerged in the water of infinite extent. The computations show good correlation with the experimental results of Linholm, et al. (1965).

  • In this paper concentrate on the comparison of the thermal and mechanical characteristics in Butt joint of ship structure AH32 steel by using hybrid welding and conventional SAW. For this purpose, fundamental welding phenomena of hybrid process using $CO_2$ Laser and MIG is investigated by the experiments and characteristics of thermal and welding residual stress distribution of welded joint in SAW and hybrid welding are understood from the result of FE numerical simulation and experimental values. From the result of this study, it is understood that Laser-MIG hybrid welding have high potential, make substantial saving of time and manufacturing cost and may proves its self robust in the butt joining of thick AH32 steel ship structural plate in the near future.

  • Calcareous deposits are the consequence of pH increase of the electrolyte adjacent to metal surface affected by cathodic current in seawater. It obviously has several advantages over conventional coatings, since the calcareous deposit coating is formed from coating (Mg$^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$) naturally existing in seawater. In consideration of this respect, environment friendly calcareous deposit films were formed by an electro deposition technique on steel substrates submerged in 48$^{\circ}C$ natural seawater. And the influence of current density, coating time and attachment of steel mesh on composition ratio, structure and morphology of the electrodeposited films were investigated by Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy(EDS) and X-Ray Diffractor(XRD), respectively. Accordingly, this study provides a better understanding of the composition between the growth of $Mg(OH)_2$ and $CaCO_3$ during the formation of electro deposit films on steel substrate under cathodically electrodeposition in $48^{\circ}C$ natural seawater. The Mg compositions, in general, are getting decreased regardless of current density but Ca compositions are getting increased as electrodeposition time runs. That is, $Mg(OH)_2$ compounds of brucite structure shaped as flat type is formed at the initial stage of electrodeposition, but CaCO$_3$ compounds of aragonite structure shaped as flower type is formed in large scale. Besides, $Mg(OH)_2$ compounds were much formed at 5 A/$\m^2$ environment condition compared to the 3 A/$\m^2$ and 4 A/$\m^2$ environment conditions. This is because that OH- which was comparatively largely generated at the metal surface is preferably combined with $Mg^{2+}$TEX>.

Prediction of Wave Transmission Characteristics of Low Crested Structures Using Artificial Neural Network

  • Recently around the world, coastal erosion is paying attention as a social issue. Various constructions using low-crested and submerged structures are being performed to deal with the problems. In addition, a prediction study was researched using machine learning techniques to determine the wave attenuation characteristics of low crested structure to develop prediction matrix for wave attenuation coefficient prediction matrix consisting of weights and biases for ease access of engineers. In this study, a deep neural network model was constructed to predict the wave height transmission rate of low crested structures using Tensor flow, an open source platform. The neural network model shows a reliable prediction performance and is expected to be applied to a wide range of practical application in the field of coastal engineering. As a result of predicting the wave height transmission coefficient of the low crested structure depends on various input variable combinations, the combination of 5 condition showed relatively high accuracy with a small number of input variables defined as 0.961. In terms of the time cost of the model, it is considered that the method using the combination 5 conditions can be a good alternative. As a result of predicting the wave transmission rate of the trained deep neural network model, MSE was 1.3×10-3, I was 0.995, SI was 0.078, and I was 0.979, which have very good prediction accuracy. It is judged that the proposed model can be used as a design tool by engineers and scientists to predict the wave transmission coefficient behind the low crested structure.

점토 지반에서 인발속도에 따른 판앵커의 극한 인발저항력 분석 (Analysis of Ultimate Capacity of Plate Anchor on Loading Rate Capacity in Clay)

  • Anchors are primarily designed and constructed to resist outwardly directed loads imposed on the foundation of a structure. These outwardly directed loads are transmitted to the soil at a greater depth by the anchors. Buried anchors have been used for thousands of years to stabilize structures. Various types of earth anchors are now used for the uplift resistance of transmission towers, utility poles, submerged pipelines, and tunnels. Anchors are also used for the tieback resistance of earth-retaining structures, waterfront structures, at bends in pressure pipelines, and when it is necessary to control thermal stress. In this research, we analyzed the uplift behavior of plate anchors in clay using a laboratory experiment to estimate the uplift behavior of plate anchors under various conditions. To achieve the research purpose, the uplift resistance and displacement characteristics of plate anchors caused by the embedment ratio, plate diameter, and loading rate were studied, compared, and analyzed for various cases.

Hydroelastic analysis of a truss pontoon Mobile Offshore Base

  • Very Large Floating Structures (VLFS) are one among the solution to pursue an environmentally friendly and sustainable technology in birthing land from the sea. VLFS are extra-large in size and mostly extra-long in span. VLFS may be classified into two broad categories, namely the pontoon type and semi-submersible type. The pontoon-type VLFS is a flat box structure floating on the sea surface and suitable in regions with lower sea state. The semi-submersible VLFS has a deck raised above the sea level and supported by columns which are connected to submerged pontoons and are subjected to less wave forces. These structures are very flexible compared to other kinds of offshore structures, and its elastic deformations are more important than their rigid body motions. This paper presents hydroelastic analysis carried out on an innovative VLFS called truss pontoon Mobile Offshore Base (MOB) platform concept proposed by Srinivasan and Sundaravadivelu (2013). The truss pontoon MOB is modelled and hydroelastic analysis is carried out using HYDRAN-XR* for regular 0° waves heading angle. Results are presented for variation of added mass and damping coefficients, diffraction and wave excitation forces, RAOs for translational, rotation and deformational modes and vertical displacement at salient sections with respect to wave periods.
