  • Finding the densest subgraphs from social networks, such that people in the subgraph are in a particular community or have common interests, has been a recurring problem in numerous studies undertaken. However, these algorithms focused only on finding the single densest subgraph. We suggest a heuristic algorithm of the bottom-up type, which finds the densest subgraph by increasing its size from a given starting node, with the repeated addition of adjacent nodes with the maximum degree. Furthermore, since this approach matches well with parallel processing, we further implement a parallel algorithm on the MapReduce framework. In experiments using various graph data, we confirmed that the proposed algorithm finds the densest subgraphs in fewer steps, as compared to other related studies. It also scales efficiently for many given starting nodes.

  • Let G be a graph with vertex set V(G) and edge set E(G), and let g, f be two nonnegative integer-valued functions defined on V(G) such that $g(x)\;{\leq}\;f(x)$ for every vertex x of V(G). We use $d_G(x)$ to denote the degree of a vertex x of G. A (g, f)-factor of G is a spanning subgraph F of G such that $g(x)\;{\leq}\;d_F(x)\;{\leq}\;f(x)$ for every vertex x of V(F). In particular, G is called a (g, f)-graph if G itself is a (g, f)-factor. A (g, f)-factorization of G is a partition of E(G) into edge-disjoint (g, f)-factors. Let F = {$F_1$, $F_2$, ..., $F_m$} be a factorization of G and H be a subgraph of G with mr edges. If $F_i$, $1\;{\leq}\;i\;{\leq}\;m$, has exactly r edges in common with H, we say that F is r-orthogonal to H. If for any partition {$A_1$, $A_2$, ..., $A_m$} of E(H) with $|A_i|=r$ there is a (g, f)-factorization F = {$F_1$, $F_2$, ..., $F_m$} of G such that $A_i\;{\subseteq}E(F_i)$, $1\;{\leq}\;i\;{\leq}\;m$, then we say that G has (g, f)-factorizations randomly r-orthogonal to H. In this paper it is proved that every (0, mf - (m - 1)r)-graph has (0, f)-factorizations randomly r-orthogonal to any given subgraph with mr edges if $f(x)\;{\geq}\;3r\;-\;1$ for any $x\;{\in}\;V(G)$.

  • Recently, research on processing a large-capacity graph using GPUs has been conducting. In order to process a large-capacity graph in a GPU with limited memory, the graph must be divided into subgraphs and then processed by scheduling subgraphs. In this paper, we propose an efficient graph algorithm processing scheme in GPU environments with limited memory and performance evaluation. The proposed scheme consists of a graph differential subgraph scheduling method and a graph segmentation method. The bulk graph segmentation method determines how a large-capacity graph can be segmented into subgraphs so that it can be processed efficiently by the GPU. The differential subgraph scheduling method schedule subgraphs processed by GPUs to reduce redundant transmission of the repeatedly used data between HOST-GPUs. It shows the superiority of the proposed scheme by performing various performance evaluations.

  • In this paper, we will investigate the concept of the torsion-graph of an R-module M, in which the set $T(M)^*$ makes up the vertices of the corresponding torsion graph, ${\Gamma}(M)$, with any two distinct vertices forming an edge if $[x:M][y:M]M=0$. We prove that, if ${\Gamma}(M)$ contains a cycle, then $gr({\Gamma}(M)){\leq}4$ and ${\Gamma}(M)$ has a connected induced subgraph ${\overline{\Gamma}}(M)$ with vertex set $\{m{\in}T(M)^*{\mid}Ann(m)M{\neq}0\}$ and diam$({\overline{\Gamma}}(M)){\leq}3$. Moreover, if M is a multiplication R-module, then ${\overline{\Gamma}}(M)$ is a maximal connected subgraph of ${\Gamma}(M)$. Also ${\overline{\Gamma}}(M)$ and ${\overline{\Gamma}}(S^{-1}M)$ are isomorphic graphs, where $S=R{\backslash}Z(M)$. Furthermore, we show that, if ${\overline{\Gamma}}(M)$ is uniquely complemented, then $S^{-1}M$ is a von Neumann regular module or ${\overline{\Gamma}}(M)$ is a star graph.

  • Let G be a simple graph with vertex set V(G) and edge set E(G). A subset S of E(G) is called an edge cover of G if the subgraph induced by S is a spanning subgraph of G. The maximum number of edge covers which form a partition of E(G) is called edge covering chromatic number of G, denoted by X'c(G). It is known that for any graph G with minimum degree ${\delta},\;{\delta}-1{\le}X'c(G){\le}{\delta}$. If $X'c(G) ={\delta}$, then G is called a graph of CI class, otherwise G is called a graph of CII class. It is easy to prove that the problem of deciding whether a given graph is of CI class or CII class is NP-complete. In this paper, we consider the classification of nearly bipartite graph and give some sufficient conditions for a nearly bipartite graph to be of CI class.

  • Algorithms that represent given pattern in the form of an ARG (Attributed relational graph) using not only structural relations but also symbolic or numerical attributes, and then recognize that pattern by graph matching process are presented in this paper. Based on definitions of pattern deformational models, algorithms that can find GPECI(Graph preserved error correcting isomorphism). SGECI(subgraph ECI) and DSECI(Double subgraph ECI) are proposed and comparisons among these algorithms are described. To be useful in performig practical tasks, efficient schemes for extraction of ARG representation fron raw image are needed. In this study, given patterns are restricted within objects having distinct skeleton, and then the information which is necessary for recognition and analysis is successfully extracted.

  • In a series of original papers, [1-17] efficient methods and algorithms have been presented, for the exact solution of many reliability problems represented by binary networks. A starting point of these methods was the concept of domination, firstly introduced in ,elation with reliability problems in [2]. It's application to directed networks resulted in the development of a topological formula for the classical problem of the two terminal reliability. This result was extended later to the all-terminal and the k-terminal reliability problems. All papers mentioned above use a path oriented representation for the network topology. In practical applications, however, it is common and often advantageous to work with cut sets. This article considers the Domination theory for reliability problem of a network. Some topological formula are derived and the power and the application of this formula are shown through the alternative proof of topological formula of A. Satyanarayana [2].
