  • The purpose of this study is to develop a mobile app for mental health self care of university student. User centered design is a research design that applies the subject's needs assessment, analysis, design, development, evaluation, modification and supplement to suit the subjects. In order to manage the mental health of university students, they consisted of four main areas of mental health problems: drinking, sleeping, depression, and stress. It is designed to enable self test content, analysis and notification of inspection results, and management plan for current status of each area. Based on this, I developed an Android based mental health self-care Application. The subject can enter his or her mental health status data to explain the normal or risk level for each result, and the subject can then select the appropriate intervention method that he or she can perform. In addition, we developed a mental health self care calendar that can display the present status of each of the four areas on a day by day basis, and the current status can be expressed in an integrated manner through animations and status bars. The purpose of this study was to develop a mental health self-care app that can be improved by continuous and improved programs.

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine the effect of direct practice of newborn health assessment on nursing student's clinical competence and self-efficacy and to propose effective strategies for clinical education on newborn care. Methods: Design was a nonequivalent control group quasi-experimental study. The direct practice program was composed of a lecture, demonstration, drill and feedback using a manikin, and repeated direct practice regarding newborn health assessment. Participants were 65 student nurses taking the pediatric nursing practicum in the nursery room at M hospital. The experimental group (n=33) participated in the direct practice program for newborn health assessment and the control group (n=32) received the traditional practice method. Nursing clinical competence was assessed by two nurse investigators and structured questionnaires were used to measure self-efficacy. Results: The experimental group's clinical competence was significantly higher than that of the control group (t=-4.82, p=.000). However no significant difference was found between the two groups for self-efficacy (t=1.264, p=.211). Conclusion: These findings indicate that the direct practice program is effective in improving nursing student's clinical competence, but it was not effective in increasing self-efficacy. Direct practice in various clinical education settings is recommended and longitudinal effects be evaluated.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of the self- perceived stress of high school students on their oral health care and the relationship between stress and oral health care. The subjects in this study were the students in four different high schools located in Chungcheongnam-do, on whom a self-administered survey was conducted. The answer sheets from 939 respondents were analyzed by PASW Statistics ver.18.0 for Windows. The girls were more stressed than the boys about their studies, appearance and material resource, and the sophomores felt more stress about their home and studies. The group whose academic achievement was good in the past semester had the lowest stress about home and material resource, and the group whose economic standard was higher were less stressed about appearance and material resource. As a result of comparing their oral health care by general characteristics, the groups who were sophomores and whose academic achievement was good in the past semester were most excellent in that regard, and the students whose economic standard was higher and whose average weekly allowances were larger took better care of their oral health. Concerning the influential factors for oral health care, stress about peer relationship was positively related, and stress about material resource was negatively related. Given the findings of the study, the development of oral health care programs that include how to relieve stress is required, and more intensive education is necessary as well. Besides, education for school personnel in charge of student health management and the development of related manuals are both required.

Their satisfaction with education, and their professional attitudes and behavioral intentions concerning treating these patients were the issues of this paper. Paper-and-pencil survey data were collected from 289 dental students at the school of dentistry, Seoul National University. Most respondents agreed that it is important to be educated about providing care for patients with special needs at the school. The higher grade students they are, they got the higher degree of understanding about treating these patients and the more satisfaction with the education. However, their intentions to treat these patients in their future professional lives were negatively correlated with degree of students. Based on these findings, it is recommended that school curriculum about treating patients with special care be reconsidered to develop students' comfort level in treating special needs populations.

According to analysis, students who stated reasons for halitosis as 'Tooth brushing to eliminate bad breath' and 'Friends bad breath are discomfort' showed high subjective oral care awareness, however, it was low when students were not aware of their bad breath. Therefore, increasing tooth brushing frequency and reducing the intake of carbonated drink and junk food are needed to boost subjective oral care awareness. Also, it is considered that educational contents and materials for factors which affects subjective oral care awareness should be developed for high school student's Oral health education class.
