  • The forced vibration with the symmetric boundary condition in nonlinear structure is studied by utilizing the characteristic of the free vibration which have two modes with the similar natural frequency. Two linear modes exist to have no concern with the amplitude. It is found that the normal mode or elliptic orbit as the newly coupled modes is generated in accordance with changing the stability. It is also known that responses for forced vibration having the small external force and damping are near mode of free vibration and the stability for each response is determined according to the stability for each response is determined according to the stability in mode of free vibration. Finally the stability and bifurcation are analyzed in proportion to increment of external force and damping.

  • Modern power grids are becoming more and more stressed with the load demands increasing continually. Therefore large stressed power systems exhibit complicated dynamic behavior when subjected to small disturbance. Especially, it is needed to analyze special conditions which make small signal stability structure varied according to operating conditions. This paper shows that the relation between small signal stability structure varied according to operating conditions. This paper shows that the relation between small signal stability and operating conditions can be identified well using node-focus point and 1:1 resonance point. Also, the weak point which limits operating range is found by the analysis of resonance condition, and it is shown that reactive power compensation may solve the problem in the weak points. The proposed method is applied to test systems, and the results illustrate its capabilities.

  • This paper deals with the stability analysis of concrete pipes mixed with nanoparticles conveying fluid. Instead of cement, the $Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles are used in construction of the concrete pipe. The Navier-Stokes equations are used for obtaining the radial force of the fluid. Mori-Tanaka model is used for calculating the effective material properties of the concrete $pipe-Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles considering the agglomeration of the nanoparticles. The first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is used for mathematical modeling of the structure. The motion equations are derived based on energy method and Hamilton's principal. An exact solution is used for stability analysis of the structure. The effects of fluid, volume percent and agglomeration of $Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles, magnetic field and geometrical parameters of pipe are shown on the stability behaviour of system. Results show that considering the agglomeration of $Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles, the critical fluid velocity of the concrete pipe is decreased.

  • The dynamic stability of swarms is crucial in preventing collisions in clustered flights and safely moving along a defined path. Although there have been many simulation studies on dynamic stability, there have not been many experimental studies using real clusters due to the difficulty in implementation. In this study, we constructed a particle-lattice structure simulating bird flocks or drone swarms, and conducted experiments within turbulent flow. We identified a criterion that describes dynamically stable particle-lattice structures. The stability increased as this newly defined spatial index increased.

  • Recently, it has been reported that number of earthquakes was rapidly increased in the Korean Peninsula. According to the interest of seismic analysis, most of construction design must ensure the stability of structure against risks due to earthquake. Therefore, the ground reinforcement and application of seismic standards is necessary and the new structures must secure a stability about Earthquake under the Korea Seismic Analysis Standards. In this study, the 2D numerical analysis was performed to confirm a seismic stability and analysed that behavior of ground and dykes. The numerical seismic response analyses for dykes and its foundation soil were conducted with considering earthquake modes of short-period and long-period, and artificial seismic wave.

  • Geotextile has been used for various types of containers, such as small hand-filled sandbags, 3-dimensional fabric forms for concrete paste, large soil and aggregate filled geotextile gabion, prefabricated hydraulically filled containers. They are hydraulically filled with dredged materials and have been applied in coastal protection and scour protection, dewatering method of slurry, temporary working platform for bridge construction, temporary embankment for spill way dam construction. Recently, geotextile tube technology is no longer alternative construction technique but suitable desired solution. The paper presents the stability behavior of geotextile tube composite structure by 2-D limit equilibrium and slope stability analysis. 2-D limit equilibrium analysis was performed to evaluate the stability of geotextile tube composite structure to the lateral earth pressure and also transient seepage and stability analysis were conducted to determine the pore pressure distribution by tide variation and slope stability. Based on the results of this paper, the three types of geotextile tube composite structure is stable and also slope stability of overall geotextile tube composite structures is stable with the variation of tidal conditions.

  • We have developed an image reversal photoresist with high thermal stability and electric insulating properties for the single isolation structure of OLEDs. The thermal stability and electric insulating properties are investigated and compared with those of conventional insulator and cathode separator materials. The single isolation structure using the image reversal photoresist reduces the fabrication process steps and cuts down the manufacturing cost.

  • A two-strain epidemic model with an age structure mutation and varying population is studied. By means of the spectrum theory of bounded linear operator in functional analysis, the reproductive numbers according to the strains, which associates with the growth rate ${\lambda}^*$ of total population size are obtained. The asymptotic stability of the steady states are obtained under some sufficient conditions.

  • Evaluation of stability in traditional designing of reinforced soil structures is executed by examination of internal and external stability. Analysis of internal stability is for pull-out and ductile strength. Analysis of external stability is for settlement, overturning and sliding. To minimize inherent uncertainties of soil properties and analytical model, reliability analysis was developed recently. In this study, reliability analysis method considering simultaneous failure probability for various failure mode of internal and external stability is proposed. By applying uni-modal bounds, Stability of system reliability of reinforced soil structures is evaluated by integrating multi failure mode for various analytical model. Because of complex consideration for various failure shapes and modes, it is possible to secure advanced safety by using simultaneous failure probability. And evaluation of reinforced soil structure is executed by representative index, simultaneous failure probability, than previous method.

  • Stability limits of a double concentric jets flame and the structure of recirculation zone formed behind a thick burner rim were investigated. To control the flame stability, swirled secondary air flow ranging 0.13-0.71 of swirl number, and air, fuel, and mixture gas injection from an injection coaxial slit set on burner rim were examined. Flame stability limits, flame shapes, lengths of recirculation zone, temperature distributions, residence times, air ratios in the recirculation zone were measured. The following results were obtained. (1) Lean limits were considerably widened by a strong swirl because the recirculation zone was enlarged. (2) At fuel injection as well as mixture injection, lean limits were also extended. But, air injection had no effect on stability limits. (3) Injected gas seems to diffuse into the recirculation zone through its outer boundary surrounded the secondary air. Therefore, chemical structure in the recirculation zone with air injection coincides with that without injection. (4) Injection position had no effect on flame stability limits.
