  • Previous stereo methods doesn't deal effectively with depth discontinuity due to inevitable window-based problems, and so give inaccurate and noisy matching results in areas with steep disparity variations. In this paper. a variable window approach is presented to estimate accurate, detailed and smooth disparities with three-dimensional disparity space. It makes the smoothing of depth discontinuity reduced by evaluating corresponding correlation values and intensity gradient-based similarity in the space. In addition, it devises the novel arbitrarily-shaped variable window to treat with disparity variations of various structure shapes. We show how our results improve on those of closely related techniques for accuracy, robustness. matching density and computing speed.

  • We introduce a efficient vertical mining algorithm that reduces searching complexity for frequent k-itemsets significantly. This method includes sorting items by their LSI(Least Support Itemsets) similarity and then searching frequent itemsets in tree-based manner. The search tree structure provides several useful heuristics and therefore, reduces search space significantly at early stages. Experimental results on various data sets shows that the proposed algorithm improves searching performance compared to other algorithms, especially for a database having long pattern.

  • $cdc103^+$ gene in Schizosaccharomyces pombe which is similar to the CDC3 gene in Saccharomyces cerevisiae was cloned and sequenced. Comparison of the predicted amino acid sequences of $cdc103^+$ and CDC3 revealed that they share significant similarity (43% identity and 56% identity or similarity) to each other. The gene product of CDC3 in S. cerevisiae is known to be a highly ordered ring of filaments that lies just inside the cytoplasmic membrane in the region of the mother-bud neck. In order to characterize the gene product of $cdc103^+$ in Schizosaccharomyces pombe, fusion proteins were used to generate the polyclonal antibodies specific for the gene product (cdc103p). In immunofluorescence experiments, these antibodies decorate the region of the septum formation as a double ring structure late in the cell division cycle.

  • In this paper, the methods are presented for the calculation of general coupling coefficient matrixes used in the band pass filter design. They are calculated from transmission coefficient($S_{21}$) and reflection coefficient($S_{11}$) with desired characteristics derived from the poles of filter function and return loss(RL). The calculated matrixes from this method are transformed to the folded canonical filter structure using similarity transformation which lends us the practical filter design. Based on the resulting matrix, the folded canonical filter has been designed.

  • The reaction of dilithio-o-carborane with dipenyl disulfide produces a phenyl thiolated o-carborane and it has been confirmed that there is conformational similarity between the structure of the compound elucidated by X-ray crystallography and that calculated by ab initio and density functional theory.

  • The problems associated with gene identification and the prediction of gene structure in DNA sequences have been the focus of increased attention over the past few years with the recent acquisition by large-scale sequencing projects of an immense amount of genome data. A variety of prediction programs have been developed in order to address these problems. This paper presents a review of the computational approaches and gene-finders used commonly for gene prediction in eukaryotic genomes. Two approaches, in general, have been adopted for this purpose: similarity-based and ab initio techniques. The information gleaned from these methods is then combined via a variety of algorithms, including Dynamic Programming (DP) or the Hidden Markov Model (HMM), and then used for gene prediction from the genomic sequences.

  • In this paper we consider the variable structure control for a class of discrete-time uncertain multivariable systems where the nominal system is linear. Discrete-time switching dynamics are introduced so that a new type of state trajectories called sliding mode may exist on the sliding surface by state feedback. The quantitative analysis for the matched uncertainties will show that every response of the system with the proposed switching dynamics is bounded within small neighborhoods of the state-space origin. Also, by the similarity transformation it will be shown that the eigenvalues of the closed-loop systems are composed of those of the subsystems which govern the range-space dynamics and null-space dynamics. It will be also shown that ideal sliding mode can be obtained in the absence of uncertainties due to one-step attraction to the sliding surface regardless of initial position of states. • Pre-existing pattern recognition techniques, in the case of character recognition, have limited on the application field. But CAI character learning system and writer's recognition system are very important parts. The application field of pre-existing system can be expanded in the content that the learning of characters and the recognition of writers in the proposed paper. In order to achieve these goals, the development contents are the following: Firstly, pre-processing method by understanding the image structure is proposed, secondly, recognition of characters are accomplished b the histogram distribution characteristics. Finally, similarity measure functions are defined from standard character pattern for matching of the input character pattern. Also the effectiveness of this system is demonstrated by experimenting the standard primitive image.

  • The fire should extinguish as soon as possible because it causes economic loss and loses precious life. In this study, we propose a new atypical fire and smoke detection algorithm using deep learning and color histogram of fire and smoke. First, input frame images obtain from the ONVIF surveillance camera mounted in factory search motion candidate frame by motion detection algorithm and mean square error (MSE). Second deep learning (Faster R-CNN) is used to extract the fire and smoke candidate area of motion frame. Third, we apply a novel algorithm to detect the fire and smoke using color histogram algorithm with local area motion, similarity, and MSE. In this study, we developed a novel fire and smoke detection algorithm applied the local motion and color histogram method. Experimental results show that the surveillance camera with the proposed algorithm showed good fire and smoke detection results with very few false positives.

  • Pseudomonas sp. strain SY5 is a PCB-degrading bacterium [24] that includes two different enzymes (BphC1 and BphC2) encoding 2,3-dihdroxybiphenyl 1,2-dioxygenase and BphD encoding 2-hydroxy-6-oxo-6-phenylhexa-2,4-dienoate hydrolase. The bphC1 and bphC2 genes were found to consist of 897 based encoding 299 amino acids and 882 bases encoding 294 amino acids, respectively, whereas the bphD gene consisted of 861 bases encoding 287 amino acids. According to a homology search, a 50% and 39% similarity between the bphC1 and bphC2 genes at the nucleotide and amino acid level was shown, respectively. The bphC1 gene showed a 38% and 45% similarity at the amino acid level to Alcaligenes eutrophus A5 and Rhodococcus rhodochrous, respectively, whereas, bphC2 showed a 95% and 43% similarity, respectively. A comparison of the deduced amino acid sequence of the bphD product of Pseudomonas sp. SY5 with that of A. eutrophus A5, Pseudomons sp. KKS102, and LB400 showed a sequence identity of 92, 92, and 79%, respectively. Strain SY5 was originally isolated from municipal sewage containing recalcitrant organic compounds an found to have a high degradability of various aromatic compounds [23]. The current study found that strain SY5 had two extradiol-type dioxygenases, which did not hybridize with each other as they had a low similarity, yet a similar structure of evolutionarily conserved amino acids residues for catalytic activity between BphC1 and BphC2 was observed.
