Sizing system of Korean structural firefighting protective clothing that is national approved should be met for specification of structural firefighting protective clothing that is identified by Ministry of Public Administration and Security(MOPAS). However if you look over the specification of sizing system, the standard is based on only 'height' and the others are indicated as the size of completed product. KS K ISO 13688 and EN 340 which is met on ISO 13688 which indicates sizing system about protective clothing has the standards of height, chest and waist circumference. Also NFPA 1971 that has standards of sizing system is based on chest circumference, cervical to wrist length, waist circumference and inseam. That is different from Korean standards. Therefore, fire fighting protective clothing standards which is based on only height should be compensated and not be relied on foreign standards like ISO. It is indispensable for developing our own sizing system of structural fire fighting protective clothing. In this studying, Korean new sizing system of structural fire fighting protective clothing was developed for providing basic information of ergonomic structural fire fighting protective clothing. The analyzed target age was between 20 and 59 years old fire fighter who extinguish the fire. And it was analyzed by 3D measurement among data of the $5^{th}$ Size Korea. On conclusion, in case of structural fire fighting protective clothing coat, physical dimension was to be chest circumference, cervical to wrist length. Three dimensions as 5cm space of circumference and four dimensions as 2.5cm space of cervical to wrist length were derived, which means that totally 12 dimensions were defined. Dimension standards of pants was based on the analysis of waist circumference and crotch height. Six dimensions as 5cm space of waist circumference and three dimensions as 5cm space of crotch height were derived, which means that totally 14 dimensions were defined.
Recently, the interest in a complex building increases rapidly in Korea. High-rise complex is not simply the combination of a residential apartment and a business office as previous but a building with the object of the convenience of the residents familiar with city-life style through adapting the high class life style and new residential culture to the business space, and the efficiency in using the limited building site in the town. This study presents an exploratory analysis focusing the structural system with the help of the extensive survey of the construction site in Korea, and aims a guideline for the structural design and construction of high rise complex. Through the survey, change and development in the design and the construction can be seen as the height and size of the complex grow. It is almost indispensable to design a structural system against lateral forces like earthquake or wind, which is usually measured by story drift ratio or story displacement. Improvement of the structural materials and their usages is also included for the efficiency of the structural system. Useful slab-beam system contributing to the decrease of the story height is still a concern.
Geotextile tube is environmentally sustainable technology and has been applied in hydraulic and coastal engineering applications. Geotextile tube is composed in permeable fabrics and Inside dredged materials, and hydraulically or mechanically filled with dredged materials. These tube are generally about 1.0m to 2.0m in diameter, through they can be sized for any application. The tubes can be used solely, or stacked to add greater height and usability. Stacked geotextile tubes will create by adding the height necessary for some breakwaters and embankment, therefore increasing the usability of geotextile tubes. This paper presents the hydrodynamic behavior of stacked geotextile tube by hydraulic model tests. The hydraulic model test conducted by structural condition and wave conditions. Structural condition is installation direction to the wave(perpendicular band 45$^{\circ}$), and wave condition is varied with the significant wave height ranging from 3.0m to 6.0m. Based on the test results, the hydrodynamic behaviors such as structural stability, wave control capacity, and strain are interpreted.
Organic compounds have a problem that the separation of structural isomer in the preparation process requires high energy consumption. This study proposes a new separation method of structural isomer using Magneto- Archimedes method. Firstly, the levitation height of 1, 6-DDA and 1, 10-DDA was respectively calculated by simulation of the forces acting on the particles under magnetic field, and it was indicated that they could be separated by the difference of levitation height. To confirm the phenomenon experimentally, white powders of 1, 6-DDA and 1, 10-DDA were formed into pellets, and were soaked in manganese chloride solution. Then the solution was put on the center of the cryostat of HTS bulk magnet (maximum magnetic flux density is 3T). As a result, it was confirmed that the separation of structural isomer by difference of levitation height could be possible.
Every year new tall buildings are being conceived, designed, and built with new schemes. Thus it is important to explore the factors that affect tall building design. Thus it is important to explore the tall building design factors. The planning and design of tall buildings require different criteria than those that exist in regular size buildings. Tall buildings are uniquely expressed by their structural systems where exterior esthetic and requirements of space drive the form and composition of the structural systems. Therefore the exploration of design factors is the key to achieve optimum building systems. Optimization as mentioned here is associated with the efficiency of the different building systems. To achieve an optimal system, there is a need for an understanding of the factors that affect on overall tall building design such as planning module, building function, lease span, floor-to-floor-height, building height (aspect ratio), structural system, environmental systems. In this paper a statistical approach will be used and will be based on data collected from the practice through a rigorous survey taken. This information is tabulated and analyzed. The major target of investigation will be lease span related to space requirement in the tall building planning. Factors related to lease spans, such as function, floor-to-floor height, planning module, building height, overall plan dimension, and plan ratio (building geometry), will be looked at carefully. IN conclusion, this approach of optimization can introduce a preliminary design guideline for tall building projects. The purpose of the paper should shed some light on the optimum tall building design criteria.
The slosh height and the possibility of water spill from rectangular Spent Fuel Storage Bays (SFSB) and Tray Loading Bays (TLB) of Nuclear power plant (NPP) are studied during 0.2 g, Safe Shutdown Earthquake (SSE) level of earthquake. The slosh height obtained through Computational Fluid dynamics (CFD) is compared the values given by TID-7024 (Housner 1963) and American concrete institute (ACI) seismic codes. An equivalent amplitude method is used to compute the slosh height through CFD. Numerically computed slosh height for first mode of vibration is found to be in agreement the codal values. The combined effect in longitudinal and lateral directions are studied separately, and found that the slosh height is increased by 24.3% and 38.9% along length and width directions respectively. There is no liquid spillage under SSE level of earthquake data in SFSB and TLB at convective level and at free surface acceleration data. Since seismic design codes do not have guidelines for combined excitations and effect of higher modes for irregular geometries, this CFD procedure can be opted for any geometries to study effect of higher modes and combined three directional excitations.
This study investigates the shear lag phenomenon existing in the shear wall of the wall-frame structure. Elastic analysis of such structures is carried out using a 3-D frame analysis program. The structural parameters governing the shear lag phenomenon are wall height and thickness. The analysis shows that the overturning moment due to external lateral load is resisted by both of the shear/core wall and the external frame. Severe unstable stresses are identified in height ratio of about 0.7 The taller or thinner wall shows the smaller shear lag phenomenon.
An optimal design method for a spoke double-layer cable-net structure (SDLC) is proposed in this study. Simplified calculation models of the SDLC are put forward to reveal the static responses under vertical loads and wind loads. Next, based on an energy principle, the relationship among the initial prestress level, cross-sectional areas of the components, rise height, sag height, overall displacement, and relative deformation is proposed. Moreover, a calculation model of the Foshan Center SDLC is built and optimized. Given the limited loading cases, material properties of the components, and variation ranges of the rise height and sag height, the self-weight and initial prestress level of the entire structure can be obtained. Because the self-weight of the cables decreases with increasing of the rise height and sag height, while the self-weight of the inner strut increases, the total weight of the entire structure successively exhibits a sharp reduction, a gradual decrease, a slow increase, and a sharp increase during the optimization process. For the simplified model, the optimal design corresponds to the combination of rise height and sag height that results in an appropriate prestress level of the entire structure with the minimum total weight.

Many coastal engineering designs utilize empirical formulas containing the Equivalent Deep-water Wave Height (EDWH), which is normally given a priori. However, no studies have explicitly discussed a method for determining the EDWH and the resulting design wave heights (DEWH) under irregular wave conditions. Unfortunately, it has been the case in many design practices that the EDWH is incorrectly estimated by dividing the Shallow-water Wave Height (SWH) at the structural position with its corresponding shoaling coefficient of regular wave. The present study reexamines the relationship between the Shallow-water Wave Height (SWH) at the structural position and its corresponding EDWH. Then, a new procedure is proposed to facilitate the correct estimation of EDWH. In this procedure, the EDWH and DEWH are determined differently according to the wave propagation model used to estimate the SWH. For this, Goda's original method for nonlinear irregular wave deformation is extended to produce values for linear shoaling. Finally, exemplary calculations are performed to assess the possible errors caused by a misuse of the wave height calculation procedure. The relative errors with respect to the correct values could exceed 20%, potentially leading to a significant under-design of coastal or harbor structures in some cases.
The objective of this study is to optimally design FRP-concrete members of a bridge structure. Using the GENESIS7.0 that is a commercial optimization program we performed an optimal design with design parameters that consist of height, width of FRP member, height of concrete. And we practiced an optimal design with the design variables, thickness of upper flange, bottom flange, and web. The results of these studies are summarized as follows : (1) Thickness of composite-concrete is proper at over loon (2) FRP member reaches the optimal section when the width of the FRP member is 20cm its height is 10cm and the height of the composite-concrete is 12cm.
