Engorgement of macrophages with cholesterol is the defining pathological characteristic of atherosclerotic plaques, the cause of most heart attacks and strokes. Activated human macrophages uptake low density lipoprotein (LDL) by the bulk-phase fluid, and aggregated LDL by patocytosis. After incorporation of LDL and aggregated LDL into macrophages, neutral cholesterol esterase is decreased and cholesterol efflux is also deceased, resulting that macrophages become foam cells.

This paper proposes a character segmentation method for Korean letter address image. The poor quality of image binarization results in broken character strokes. To overcome this problem, two steps of processing ate introduced. The first one is to merge broken characters to generate character candidates, and the other one is to reduce the complexity of segmentation graph path. These two steps do not use recognition information to keep in high-speed.

한국전력 가공배전선로의 기존의 차폐선(가공지선)에 의한 직격뢰 차폐를 개선하기 위해, 기존 가공지선과는 별도로, 전주에 가공 지선과 직각방향의 수평피뢰침을 추가로 설치함으로써, 직격뢰에 의한 뇌사고를 대폭 줄일 수 있는 것으로 파악되었으며, 본 논문에서 검토배경, 원리, 실제의 형태 및 설치, 기대효과 등에 대해 간략히 검토하였다.

This paper proposes a new feature extraction method which is effectively used in character recognition, and validate the effectiveness through various computational methods for similiarity degree. To get feature vectors used in this method, Hough transform is applied to character image, which is used for edge extraction in image processing. By that transformation technique, strokes could be extracted and feature vectors constructed suitably. The characteristic of this method is solving the difficulties in stroke extraction through transform space analysis, which is induced by noise and blurring, and representing high recognition rate 99.3% within 10 candidates in relative low dimension.

본 논문은 수평 런 길이와 수직 런 길이를 이용해 필기체 한글 문자의 자획 두께를 구하고, 그 자획 두께를 이용해 입력 문자의 자소를 수평 성분과 수직 성분으로 분리하는 기술을 제안한다. 수평 성분과 수직 성분 분석은 각도와 관계없이 자획 두께와 수평 런 길이의 변화량만을 이용해 구한다. 분리된 수평 성분 자획과 수직 성분 자획은 오프라인 필기체 한글 인식을 위한 요소 기술 중 하나인 자소 분리를 위한 특징이 된다.

This paper is describes the measured electric field waveform radiated by lightning discharge. We have performed measurement and analysis of the electric fields associated with stepped leaders. Electric field measurement system was composed of hemisphere electric field sensor, measurement system of a distance from lightning strokes, automatical recording system, A/D board, personal computer etc. A/D board have high sampling time, high speed data processing, 8bit of resolution. Also, measured characteristics of stepped leaders radiated by were analyzed.

Insulator strings can be frequently damaged by fault currents occured by lightning strokes, overvoltages and contamination of the insulators. So the Insulator damages may lead to extensive damages to transmission lines as well as power outages that have caused dangerous situations to occur. This paper suggests the characteristics of arcing horn in relation to the protection of insulators and basic design concepts of the arcing horn for transmission lines.

Using the EMTP(Electro Magnetic Transient Program) for the analysis of lightning direct voltage on the railway system, the shielding effects of overhead grounding wire on the railway were studied quantitatively. Installation of overhead ground wire and gap-type arrester such as s-horn Provides a 6.6㎸ HV distribution line with good protection effects. Even severe lightning induced voltage were create, 6.6㎸ HV lines can be withstand.

Aspirin is one of the oldest synthetic drugs and remains the most widely used medical agent. It is a household remedy effective in treating such common ailments as headache, minor muscular pain and fever. Aspirin is the drug choice for rheumatic fever and arthritis which some five million Americans suffer. Lately it has been established by double-blind and randomized clinical studies that regular aspirin intake reduces the incidence of mild strokes and heart attackes.

In on-line character recognition, to segment input character is important. This paper proposes an internal character segmentation algorithm. The internal segmentation algorithm produces candidate words by considering possible combinations of Korean alphabets. In this process, we make use of projections of strokes onto the horizontal axis to remove ambiguities among candidate words. As a result of experiments, the internal segmentation algorithm shows better performance than external segmentation algorithm as the gap between sample characters becomes smaller.
