SiC 휘스커 강화 알미늄기 복합재료의 미소 표면 피로균열의 발생 및 진전거동 (Initiation and Growth Behavior of Small Surface Fatigue Cracks on SiC Whisker Reinforced Aluminum Composite)

  • Reversed plane bending fatigue tests were conducted on SiC whisker reinforced aluminum composite which were consolidated by squeeze casting process. Initiation and growth of small surface fatigue c racks were investigated by means of a plastic replica technique. The fatigue crack initiated in the vicinity of SiC whisker/matrix interface. It was found that a fatigue crack deflected along SiC whisker and grew in a zig-zag manner microscopically, although the crack propagated along the direction normal to the loading axis macroscopically. The coalescence of micro-cracks was observed in the tests conducted at high stress levels, but were not evident in tests in which lower levels of stress were applied. Due to the coalescence, a higher crack growth rate of small cracks rather than those of long cracks was recognized in da/dn -ΔK realtionship.

스프링강의 피로크랙 진전거동에 미치는 압축잔류응력의 영향 (A Study on The Effect of Compressive Residual Stress on fatigue Crack Propagation Behavior of Spying Steel)

  • In this paper, the effect of the compressive residual stresses which were obtained under the various shot velocities of shot balls on the fatigue behaviors of a spring steel, were investigated. The examination of CT specimen test were executed with the materials(JISG SUP9) which are being commonly used for the springs of automotive vehicles. As a result, the optimal shot velocity of shot balls were acquired considering the peak values of the compressive residual stresses on the surface of specimen and effect on the speed of the fatigue crack propagation da/dN in stage II and the threshold stress intensity factor range Δ$K_{th}$ in stage I. Also the material constant C and the crack propagation index m in the formula of paris law da/dN= C $({\Delta}K^m)$ were suggested in this work to estimate the dependency on the shot velocity.

  • 이 연구에서는 덮개판 형상이 피로특성에 미치는 영향을 정량적으로 평가하기 위해서 강교량을 구성하는 구조세목 중 덮개판 필렛용접부를 대상으로 일련의 피로실험을 실시하였다. 피로실험결과 덮개판 형상에 따라 피로강도에 다소 차이를 나타내고 있었으나 국내 및 외국의 피로설계기준을 만족함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 비치마크실험결과로부터 피로균열 발생점은 용접지단부의 형상에 밀접하게 관련되어 있음을 확인할 수 있었으며, 용접지단부의 여러 곳에서 동시다발적으로 발생한 피로균열이 반타원형의 표면균열의 형태로 성장하고 이 균열이 서로 합체되어 관통균열의 형태로 성장함으로써 결국 파단에 이르렀다. 한편, 파괴역학적 해석결과로부터 기존의 제안식 및 유한요소해석에서 구한 균열보정 계수 중기하학적형상보정계수가 가장 지배적임을 알 수 있었으며, 피로균열성장속도와 유한요소해석에서 구한 응력확대계수범위 사이의 관계로부터 덮개판 필렛용접부의 피로수명을 산정 할 수 있었다.

  • 혼합모드 피로하중을 받는 균열을 갖은 CTS 시편에 대하여 균열경로 예측이론과 Tanaka 의 등가 응력확대계수식을 적용하여 피로균열진전거동을 평가하였다. 새롭게 생성되는 균열선단의 응력확대계수 산정은 ANSYS 를 이용한 유한요소법을 통해 이루어졌고, 균열경로와 균열증분은 마이크로소프트 엑셀에 프로그래밍한 균열경로예측식과 Paris 식으로 계산되었다. 균열증분으로 새롭게 생성된 균열선단의 기하학적인 정보는 엑셀의 기능을 이용해 ANSYS 의 KSCON 명령어가 인식할 수 있게 변화시켜 균열모델링을 용이하게 하였다. 반복적인 균열해석을 위해 유한요소법과 엑셀을 결합한 FECTUM(Finite Element Crack Tip Updating Method)을 개발하였다. 개발된 FECTUM 을 편측 3 점 굽힘을 통해 혼합모드의 구현이 가능한 SENB 시편(Single Edge Notched Bend Specimen)에 적용해본 결과, 균열경로는 물론 파단될 때까지의 피로하중 반복수의 차이가 3% 미만으로 잘 일치하는 모습을 보여, 개발된 기법의 타당성을 검증하였다.

구멍 또는 이종재료를 가진 재료에서의 크랙의 전파 거동 (A Propagation Behavior of Crack in Material with Holes or Another Materials)

  • 본 논문은 구멍 또는 이종 재료들로 채워진 구멍들 사이에 전파화는 피로 크랙의 거동을 연구한다. 중앙 크랙의 선단이 구멍의 중심선 가까이에 도달할 때 중앙 크랙은 멈추고 작은 크랙이 구멍이나 다른 이종 재료들로 채워진 구멍 주위로부터 발생하여서 최종 파단에 이르게 된다. 다른 이종 재료들 가까이에서의 중앙 크랙의 역학적 거동들이 또한 조사된다. 이러한 크랙이 진행하여 파괴에 이르는 현상을 컴플라이언스법으로 연구한다.

피로균열이 발생한 강판형 철도교 세로보의 보수보강효과 (An Effect of Repair & Retrofit of Stringer in Steel Plate Girder Railway Bridge with Fatigue Cracks)

  • In this study, a series of finite element analysis using LUSAS were performed in order to assess the quantitative effects of repair and retrofit of stringer in steel plate girder railway bridge with fatigue cracks. And cutoff types of end part of upper flange were considered as right-angled type and round-angled type. Also, as a method of repair and retrofit of fatigue cracks in stringer, perforation of stop-hole and installation of bracket were considered. From the analysis result, it was possible to assess the fatigue safety and fatigue life of stringer with fatigue cracks, and to estimate the stress intensity factor range in cut-off part of stringer using J-integral method. Also, according to the method of perforation of stop-hole and installation of bracket, it was possible to calculate the crack propagation life at the cut-off part of stringer.

압광 재료를 이용한 구조용 Y-TZP 소재의 고속 파괴현상 가시화 연구 (Visualization of High Speed fracture Behavior in Y-TZP by using Mechano-luminescence)

  • The propagation of a macro-scale crack and the accompanying transformation zone around it was visualized in an Y-TZP ceramic using a mechano-luminescence (ML) technique. The technique allows realistic fractures that take place catastrophically in actual applications to be realistically stimulated. Unlike conventional quasi-static R-curves, the ML technique on a relatively fast time frame permitted a so-called quasi-dynamic R-curve in the crack speed range from 50 to 140 m/sec. to be measured. Effective toughening then commenced and the applied stress intensity factor increased to 27 $MPa{\sqrt{m}}$. The transformation zone height obtained from the ML observations was in good agreement with that predicted by the Marshall model, and coincided with previously observed results for quasi-static conditions by Raman spectorscopy and x-ray analysis.

  • This work has been investigated the ralationship between single surface crack length and crack depth have influence on the fatigue life. The simulation based on experimental results of 2.25 Cr-1Mo steel at various crack configuration ratios has enabled successful prediction of fatigue life at room temperature. The effect of crack depth should be considered for predicting fatigue crack growth rates as well as that of surface crack length. It is also shwn that the crack growth mechanisms are in good agreement with expreimental data according to the interaction of crack length and crack depth.

  • This paper analyzed the extension effects of fatigue life and the application of pre-indentation in aircraft structural material such as aluminum alloys. The test specimen used the thin sheet of aluminum alloy with a single-edged notch. The experiments were conducted after making the pre-crack under a constant amplitude loading. As the fatigue life extension technique, the pre-indentation making an indent on the predicted path of crack propagation was applied. The work presented here discussed about a proper mathematical relation between crack growth rate and the range of stress intensity factor and about the generalization of crack growth mechanism with large retardation effect. A technique to enhance the applicability of pre-indentation if also mentioned.

강제어촌의 부식특성과 그 방식에 관한 연구 (Study on the Corrosion Charactristics and its Corrosion Protection of Steel Fishing Banks)

  • The corrosion rate, behavior of corrosion fatigue and characteristic of cathodic protection for SB41 were investigated by corrosion and corrosion control tests in seawater at laboratory and coast. The main result obtained are as the following; 1) The corrosion rate of base metal (BM) is about 28-37 mg/dm super(2) day in seawater of coast. 2) The correlation between the stress intensity factor range $\Delta$K and crack propagation rate da/dN for weldment follows paris' rule in seawater : da/dN=C($\Delta$K) super(m) where m is the slope of the correlation, and is 2.02 for BM and 1.75 for heat affected zone (HAZ) respectively. 3) The corrosion sensitivity of HAZ is more sensitive than that of BM under the low region of $\Delta$K. 4) With increase of bared surace area of cathode, cathodic protection potential is increased sharply.
