다공질암의 동결융해 현상에 대한 이상물체 모델의 적용성 연구 (Ideal body modeling of porous rock by frost-thawing)

  • 동결융해과정이 지속적으로 반복되면서 발생되는 응력이력현상으로 인해 암반내의 피로현상이 누적되면서 암반내 누적 변위가 증가할 뿐 아니라 강도 역시 지속적으로 감소된다. 동결융해로 인한 응력의 hysteresis 현상은 대기온도의 영향에 의한 것으로, 일반적으로 점탄성 거동을 하게 된다. 그러므로, 이상물체를 이용한 암반해석을 위해, 일반적으로 점탄성 거동해석에 사용되는 Kelvin 모델을 적용할 수 있다. 또한 다공질암의 동결융해에 따른 열화 과정을 정량적으로 파악하기 위한 새로운 지표를 설정하고자 동결-융해 실험을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서는 다공성 응회암을 이용 동결-융해 실험을 실시 암석의 열화과정의 분석을 시도하였다. 실내실험 결과, 공극률의 변화를 정량화하여 열화특성을 설명하였다. 탄성계수 및 일축압축강도 등 암석의 물성변화를 공극률을 이용 열화 특성 함수로써 표현하였다.

알칼리성 폐수처리를 위한 호염기성 남조류 Arthrospira platensis의 pH에 따른 지질생성 특성 (Lipid Production Characteristics of the Basophilic Blue-Green Algae Arthrospira platensis Depending on pH for Alkaline Wastewater Treatment)

  • This study investigated the growth and metabolic characteristics of Arthrospira platensis (A. platensis) according to pH, which has an alkaline optimal pH. The intake of inorganic carbon was expected to be the highest at the optimum pH 9, but it was different from the expectation, so the cause of the excessive intake of inorganic carbon at pH 7 was investigated. We tried to verify the triacylglycerol (TAG) synthesis metabolic mechanism because it was assumedthat the inorganic carbon intake of A. platensis according to pH is closely related to lipid production inside the cell. To verify this, the effects of pH on inorganic carbon intake were examined through lipid analysis inthe cell of A. platensis according to pH. As a result, in the case of the effect of inorganic carbon intake of A. platensis according to pH on TAG content, pH 9 and pH 11 showed no significant difference in TAG content, but at pH 7, it was two times higher compared to pH 9 and pH 11. It was assumed that the reason why A. platensis excessively consumed inorganic carbon at pH 7 was because itincreased the TAG content in proportion to the intake of inorganic carbon to protect cells from external pH stress. In addition, it is considered that the TAG content produced in proportion to the intake of inorganic carbon is because acetyl-CoA produced in the Calvin cycle is required for the synthesis of TAG.

모아레 간섭계를 이용한 CBGA 패키지의 비선형 열변형 해석 (Non-linear Temperature Dependent Deformation Anaysis of CBGA Package Assembly Using Moir′e Interferometry)

  • 고감도 모아레 간섭계를 이용하여 세라믹 ball grid array 패키지 결합체의 열-기계적 거동을 분석하였다. 한 온도 사이클의 선택된 몇 개의 온도 단계에서 모아레 간섭무늬를 기록하고 해석하였다. 패키지 결합체의 온도변화에 따른 전체적인 변형과 국부적인 변형거동을 정량적으로 나타내었고, 패키지의 굽힘변형과 맨 바깥쪽 솔더볼의 전단변형률에 대한 거동을 토의하였다. 높은 온도에서는 저온 융점 솔더의 응력완화로 인하여 심각한 비선형 거동이 발생되었으며. 솔더볼의 변형을 해석한 결과 높은 온도에서 저온용융 솔더부에 비탄성 변형이 축적되었음을 알 수 있었다.

A High-Efficiency High-Power Step-Up Converter with Low Ripple Content

  • A new phase-shifted parallel-input/series-output (PI SO) dual inductor-fed push-pull converter for high-power step­up applications is proposed. This converter is operated at a constant duty cycle and employs an auxiliary circuit to control the output voltage with a phase-shift between the two modules. It features a voltage conversion characteristic which is linear to changes in the control input, and high step-up ratio with a greatly reduced switch turn-off stress resulting in a significant increase in the converter efficiency. It also shows a low ripple content and low root-mean-square (RMS) current in the output capacitor. The operational principle is analyzed and a comparative analysis with the conventional pulse-width-modulated (PWM) PISO dual inductor-fed push-pull converter is presented. A 50kHz, 800W, 350Vdc prototype with an input of 20-32Vdc has also been constructed to validate the proposed converter. The proposed converter compares favorably with the conventional counterpart and is considered well suited to high-power step-up applications.

Altered Invertase expression induced by BCTV on Arabidopsis

  • Arabidopsis infected with beet curly top virus (BCTV) has the systemic symptoms like stunting of Plant growth, curling of leaves and shoot tips, and callus induction. The regulation of sucrose metabolism by BCTV infection is essential for obtaining the energy source in the process of virus replication and symptom development. Sucrose metabolism-associated gene expression and biochemical enzyme activity were analyzed with the rossette leaves and inflorescencestems of BCTV infected Arabidopsis by the time course of 1, 7, 14, 21 day postinoculation. The expression of invertase and sucrose synthase genes ( encoding sucrose-cleaving enzymes )was increased and reversely the level of Atkin10a ( sucrose non-fermenting gene ) was decreased, resulting by semi-quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. The biochemical analysis of invertase and sucrose synthase activity was performed. The activity of neutral invertase in the inflorescence stems was elevated remarkably. The photosynthetic response in the source of sucrose metabolism was consistent with the down-regulation of ribulose 1,5 bisphosphate carboxylase gene, and lower activity than mock-inoculated plants. The levels of genes pertaining to the cell cycle, hormone, and biotic stress-related pathway showed an increase or a decrease dependent on viral symptoms. Therefore, sucrose sensing by BCTV infection can regulate the expression of sucrose metabolism-related key enzymes such as invertase and Atkin10a, and these gene products might influence to symptom development.

High Temperature Structural Integrity Evaluation Method and Application Studies by ASME-NH for the Next Generation Reactor Design

  • The main purpose of this paper is to establish the high temperature structural integrity evaluating procedures for the next generation reactors, which are to be operated at over 500$^{\circ}C$ and for 60 years. To do this, comparison studies of the high temperature structural design codes and assessment procedures such as the ASME-NH (USA), RCC-MR (France), DDS (Japan), and R5 (UK) are carried out in view of the accumulated inelastic strain and the creep-fatigue damage evaluations. Also the application procedures of the ASME-NH rules with the actual thermal and structural analysis results are described in detail. To overcome the complexity and the engineering costs arising from a real application of the ASME-NH rules by hand, all the procedures established in this study such as the time-dependent primary stress limits, total accumulated creep ratcheting strain limits, and the creep-fatigue damage limits are computerized and implemented into the SIE ASME-NH program. Using this program, the selected high temperature structures subjected to two cycle types are evaluated and the parametric studies for the effects of the time step size, primary load, number of cycles, normal temperature for the creep damage evaluations and the effects of the load history on the creep ratcheting strain calculations are investigated.

Prediction of chloride diffusion coefficient of concrete under flexural cyclic load

  • This paper presented the model to predict the chloride diffusion coefficient in tension zone of plain concrete under flexural cyclic load. The fictitious crack based analytical model was used together with the stress degradation law in cracked zone to predict crack growth of plain concrete beams under flexural cyclic load. Then, under cyclic load, the chloride diffusion, in the steady state and one dimensional regime, through the tension zone of the plain concrete beam, in which microcracks were formed by a large number of cycles, was simulated with assumptions of continuously straight crack and uniform-size crack. The numerical analysis in terms of the chloride diffusion coefficient, $D_{tot}$, normalized $D_{tot}$, crack width and crack length was issued as a function of the load cycle, N, and load level, SR. The nonlinear model as regarding with the chloride diffusion coefficient in tension zone and the load level was proposed. According to this model, the chloride diffusion increases with increasing load level. The predictions using model fit well with experimental data when we adopted suitable crack density and tortuosity parameter.

진동시험에 기초한 액상화 상세예측법 개발 (A New Assessment of Liquefaction Potential Based on the Dynamic Test)

  • When some enormous earthquake hazards broke out in the neighboring Japan and Taiwan, many Korean earthquake engineers thought that seismic guidelines must be adjusted safely and economically to consider the moderate earthquake characteristics. In the present aseismic guideline for liquefaction potential assessment, a simplified method using SPT-N value and a detail method based on the dynamic lab-tests were introduced. However, it is said that these methods based on the equivalent stress concept to simplify an irregular earthquake are not reliable to simulate the kaleidoscopical characteristics of earthquake loading correctly. Especially, even though various data from the dynamic lab-test can be obtained, only two data, a maximum cyclic load and a number of cycle at an initial liquefaction are used to determine the soil resistance strength in the detailed method. In this study, a new assessment of liquefaction potential is proposed and verified. In the proposed assessment, various data from dynamic lab-tests are used to determine the unique soil resistance characteristic and a site specific analysis is introduced to analyze the irregular earthquake time history itself. Also, it is found that the proposed assessment is reasonable because it is devised to reflect the changeable soil behavior under dynamic loadings resulted from the generation and development of excess pore water pressure.

Research on anti-seismic property of new end plate bolt connections - Wave web girder-column joint

  • The domestic and foreign scholars conducted many studies on mechanical properties of wave web steel beam and high-strength spiral stirrups confined concrete columns. Based on the previous research work, studies were conducted on the anti-seismic property of the end plate bolt connected wave web steel beam and high-strength spiral stirrups confined concrete column nodes applied with pre-tightening force. Four full-size node test models in two groups were designed for low-cycle repeated loading quasi-static test. Through observation of the stress, distortion, failure process and failure mode of node models, analysis was made on its load-carrying capacity, deformation performance and energy dissipation capacity, and the reliability of the new node was verified. The results showed that: under action of the beam-end stiffener, the plastic hinges on the end of wave web steel beam are displaced outward and played its role of energy dissipation capacity. The study results provided reliable theoretical basis for the engineering application of the new types of nodes.

배압회로를 이용한 고승압 컨버터 (High Boost Converter Using Voltage Multiplier)

  • With the increasing demand for renewable energy, distributed power included in fuel cells have been studied and developed as a future energy source. For this system, a power conversion circuit is necessary to interface the generated power to the utility. In many cases, a high step-up dc/dc converter is needed to boost low input voltage to high voltage output. Conventional methods using cascade dc/dc converters cause extra complexity and higher cost. The conventional topologies to get high output voltage use flyback dc/dc converters. They have the leakage components that cause stress and loss of energy that results in low efficiency. This paper presents a high boost converter with a voltage multiplier and a coupled inductor. The secondary voltage of the coupled inductor is rectified using a voltage multiplier and series-connected with the boost voltage of primary voltage of the coupled inductor. Therefore, high boost voltage is obtained with low duty cycle. Theoretical analysis and experimental results verify the proposed solutions using a 300W prototype.
