  • Denims were treated with neutral cellulase, acid cellulase, stone, and stone-neutral cellulase respectively at different cellulase concentrations varying treatment times in rotary washer. The effect of washing on denim was estimated by the changes in weight, color, back staining, tear strength, flex stiffness, and surface characteristics. Also the comparison of neutral cellulase, acid cellulase, stone, and stone-neutral cellulase washings was studied. Washing removes surface fibers and provides weight loss, color difference, back staining, and a decrease in tear strength and in flex stiffness. Stone-neutral cellulase washing and acid cellulase washing have a larger washing effect than neutral cellulase washing and stone washing.

  • Properties of concrete using low heat portland cement is different from using ordinary portland cement and temperature of aggregate can be expected to have an important influence on its properties. In this study, experiment by setting up 5 levels (40, 30, 20, 4, $-2^{\circ}C$) by temperature of aggregate for evaluation properties of concrete using low heat portland cement was conducted. The experiments include slump test, air content test, change of slump, change of air content and compressive strength of concrete test. As the result of experiments, slump and air content was decreased by increasing temperature of aggregate. But it was not exceeding it's limit. Change of slump and air content was rapidly decrease by decreasing temperature of aggregate. At early age, compressive strength was influenced by the temperature of aggregate.

  • A series of interpenetrating polymer networks(IPN) based on Epoxy, MA and PU were synthesized in order to improve withstand voltage properties of Epoxy resin. Dielectric breakdown characteristics are investigated for six types of specimens. As a result, it was found that impulse voltage dielectric breakdown characteristic of SIN specimen was the most excellent. It was also found that SIN specimens were stronger than anything else in scanning electron microscopy. On the other hand, as a result of consideration of dielectric breakdown strength change according to adding fi1ter, it was confirmed that the decrease of dielectric breakdown strength are controlled slightly by IPN method.

  • Characteristics of two correcting methods, a new Autogeneous GTAW heating (TIG) method and the conventional GMAW bead-on plate welding(MIG) method, for distorted aluminum fabrication structures were studied. As a result of microscopic study of Autogeneous GTAW heating and GMAW bead-on plate welding areas, porosities in weld metal and surface cracks in local heating zone were found. Through the mechanical tests, it was verified that porosities decrease tensile strength and surface of distortion, angular displacement and transeverse shrinkage were measures and compared. In order to investigate changes of material properties in heating area and cause of defects such thermal stresses were calculated by ADINA. Through the computations of transient thermal stresses and microscopic observation of fracture surface, thermal stress was found to be the cause of crack during Autogeneous GTAW heating.

  • The bonding phenomena and mechanical property of duplex stainless steel during brazing have been investigated. The UNS32550 was used for base metal, and the MBF50 was used for insert metal. Brazing was carried out under the various conditions (brazing temperature : 1473K, 1498K, holding time : 0∼1.8ks). There were various microconstituents in the bonded interlayer because of reaction between liquid insert metal and base metal. In the early stage of brazing, BN is formed in the bonded interlayer and base metal near the bonded layer. Cr made is formed in the bonded interlayer. The amount of BN and Cr nitrides decrease with the increase of bonding temperature and holding time. Superior shear strength of 550MPa is obtained by restraining the formation of nitrides. • The effects of alloying elements on microstructural features and mechanical properties in 0.55%C medium carbon steels were investigated. The samples were austenitized at 105$0^{\circ}C$ for 30min. followed by quenching in a salt bath in the temperature range of 500 ~ $620^{\circ}C$. The addition of Cr resulted in the decrease of the volume fraction of pro-eutectoid ferrite and interlamellar spacing in pearlite and the increase of strength. However, the addition of B caused the increase of the volume fraction of pro-eutectoid ferrite. Reduction of area and Charpy impact values were influenced by the combined effect of microstructural features, such as the volume fraction of pro-eutectoid ferrite, interlamellar spacing and the thickness of lamellar cementite in pearlite.

  • The effects of annealing temperature and time on mechanical properties and microstructures were studied in cold drawn pearlitic steel wires containing 0.84wt% Si. Annealing was performed from $200^{\circ}C$ to $450^{\circ}C$ with different time of 30sec, 1min, 15min and 1hr. The increase of tensile strength at low temperature was related with strain ageing. The decrease of tensile strength at high annealing temperature was related with spherodization of cementite and the occurrence of recovery of the lamellar ferrite in the pearlite. The improvement of ductility was connected with spherodization of cementite plate in pearlite and recovery process by reduction of high dislocation density at short time annealing temperature of $400^{\circ}C$.

  • Four precast concrete beam-column connectors for the apartment buildings were considered to develop a modified model which was adapt to domestic construction conditions from the DDC(Dywidag Ductile Connectors) of Germany. Special H-shape steel were used to decrease the width of column and beams for the construction of external frames of apartments. It was found that the DDC had high joint strength and ductility, however failed in x-shape crackings in the columns. The modified one showed better behaviors in tests because they did not show critical column crackings at failure. The test result of modified one with grouting were compared to that of the one without grouting within the duct. The one with grouting showed higher strength and ductility in failure than that without grouting.

  • The elastic buckling load or strength of a concentrically loaded slender metal column may be increased many times by reinforcing it with an assemblage of pretensioned stays and rigidity connected crossarm members. The complete system is herein referred to as a 'stayed column'. The purpose of the pretensioned stays and crossarm members is to introduce, at several points along the length of the column, restraint against translation and rotation and thereby decrease the effective unsupported buckling length of the column. This paper verifies that pretensioned cable of stayed column is effective for cyclic load and increases strength of shear wall against earthquake by reinforcing side of wall. Design process of stayed column which satisfies demanded capacity and ductility of wall is presented by analyzing result of experiment.

  • I-section prestressed concrete(I-PC) beam crack due to low tensile strength, may decrease rigidity and structural performance by excessive deflection. In an effort to this problem, in this research, I-section prestressed dual concrete(I-PDC) beam has been proposed, consisting of normal strength concrete in compression zone, and high performance steel fiber reinforced concrete(HPSFRC) with a bottom flange depth in tensile zone. Crack formation and its propagation are controlled by the HPSFRC in I-PDC beam. The initial cracking and service limit loads are increased along with the load carrying capacity and flexural stiffness.
