The Relevant Variables of Parent-Leadership that Influence Family Strength (가족건강성에 영향을 미치는 부모 리더십에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the relevant variables of parent-leadership that influence family strength based on the transformational leadership and transactional leadership proposed by Bernard M. Bass and to investigate the primary impact of leadership on the subordinate's job satisfaction and job involvement to his/her supervisor. Therefore, this study will provide implications for the family through a diagnosis of the effect by leadership. The results of this research are as follows : 1) How is the relationship of parent-leadership and family strength? A positive correlation was found between transformational leadership scores and family strength. A negative correlation was found between nontransactional leadership scores and family strength. 2) How had transformational leadership and transactional leadership affected on the family strength? Transformational leadership had the strongest effect on family strength. How had the 7 sub- factors of transformational/transactional leadership affected family strength? Idealized influence and contingent reward had strong effect on family strength but management by except had a negative effect on family strength.

Analysis Strength Improvement on 50 to 80 MPa Level High Performance Concrete (50~80 MPa급 고성능 콘크리트의 강도증진해석)

  • This research performed strength improvement analysis after evaluating strength characteristics by estimated temperatures to evaluate the real time strength performance of 50 to 80 MPa high performance concrete equipped with heat resistance, and the results are as follows. The lesser W/B and the lesser target slump flow value difference, compression strength was shown to increase, and the more curing temperature becomes, the strength increased accordingly. According to the correlation review result of strength improvement analysis by estimated temperature change performed using logistic analysis model, the compression strength value predicted with logistic curve expression and the compression strength value measured in experiment were shown to have similar correlation, and the strength improvement analysis value by logistic model was shown to be estimated good when W/B is high.

  • The major object of this study is to investigate experimentally the experimental equation by the non-destructive testing methods of ultrasonic pulse velocity, rebound number, combined method of ultrasonic pulse velocity and rebound number, maturity which are applicable to the evaluation of compressive strength of concrete at early ages. Also test result of mix are statistically analyzed to infer the correlation coefficient between the maturity and the compressive strength of concrete. The results show good application of Logistic curve for estimating strength development under various curing temperature. The relation between ultrasonic pulse velocity, rebound number, combined method of ultrasonic pulse velocity and rebound number and compressive strength of concrete have low correlation coefficient, but maturity method show good correlation coefficient.

  • In this study, the correlation between the compressive strength and the B3B bending strength of the high-temperature hydrothermal concrete according to the presence or absence of aggregate incorporation was examined. As a result of the experiment, as the heating temperature increases, the strength decreases and shows a high correlation.

Association between Hand Grip Strength and Gait Variability in Elderly: Pilot Study (노인의 악력과 보행 가변성 간의 연관성: 예비연구)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to establish an association between grip strength and gait variability in the elderly. Methods: The participants in this experiment (n = 20) were aged 65 or older. Power grip and lateral pinch forces were obtained in grip strength tests, and spatiotemporal gait parameters were collected from IMU sensors during 6 min actual walking to test the gait of participants. The collected gait parameters were converted to coefficient of variation (CV) values. To confirm the association between grip strength and gait variability, a partial correlation analysis was conducted in which height, weight, and gait speed were input as controlling variables. Results: Grip power showed a significant negative correlation with the stride length CV (r = -0.52), and the lateral pinch force showed a significant negative correlation with the stance CV (r = -0.65) and swing CV (r = -0.63). Conclusion: This study reveals that gait variability decreases as grip strength increases, although height, weight, and gait speed were controlled. Thus, grip strength testing, a simple aging evaluation method, can help identify unstable gait in older adults at risk of falling, and grip strength can be utilized as a non-invasive measurement method for frailty management and prevention.

Correlation of rebound hammer and ultrasonic pulse velocity methods for instant and additive-enhanced concrete

  • This study aims to determine the characteristics of concrete as identified by Rebound Hammer and Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) tests, focusing particularly on their efficacy in estimating compressive strength of concrete material. The study involved three concrete samples designed to achieve a target strength of 29 MPa, comprising normal concrete, instant concrete, and concrete with additives. These were cast into cube specimens measuring 150×150×150 mm. Compressive strength values were determined through both destructive and non-destructive testing on the cubic specimens. As a result, the non-destructive methods yielded varying outcomes for each correlation approach, influenced by the differing constituent materials in the tested concretes. However, normal concrete consistently showed the most reliable correlation, followed by concrete with additives, and lastly, instant concrete. The study found that combining Rebound Hammer and UPV tests enhances the prediction accuracy of compressive strength of concrete. This synergy was quantified through multivariate regression, considering UPV, rebound number, and actual compressive strength. The findings also suggest a more significant influence of the Rebound Hammer measurements on predicting compressive strength for BN and BA, whereas UPV and RN had a similar impact on predicting BI compressive strength.

Correlation Between Knee Muscle Strength and Maximal Cycling Speed Measured Using 3D Depth Camera in Virtual Reality Environment

  • Background: Virtual reality (VR) programs based on motion capture camera are the most convenient and cost-effective approaches for remote rehabilitation. Assessment of physical function is critical for providing optimal VR rehabilitation training; however, direct muscle strength measurement using camera-based kinematic data is impracticable. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a method to indirectly estimate the muscle strength of users from the value obtained using a motion capture camera. Objects: The purpose of this study was to determine whether the pedaling speed converted using the VR engine from the captured foot position data in the VR environment can be used as an indirect way to evaluate knee muscle strength, and to investigate the validity and reliability of a camera-based VR program. Methods: Thirty healthy adults were included in this study. Each subject performed a 15-second maximum pedaling test in the VR and built-in speedometer modes. In the VR speedometer mode, a motion capture camera was used to detect the position of the ankle joints and automatically calculate the pedaling speed. An isokinetic dynamometer was used to assess the isometric and isokinetic peak torques of knee flexion and extension. Results: The pedaling speeds in VR and built-in speedometer modes revealed a significantly high positive correlation (r = 0.922). In addition, the intra-rater reliability of the pedaling speed in the VR speedometer mode was good (ICC [intraclass correlation coefficient] = 0.685). The results of the Pearson correlation analysis revealed a significant moderate positive correlation between the pedaling speed of the VR speedometer and the peak torque of knee isokinetic flexion (r = 0.639) and extension (r = 0.598). Conclusion: This study suggests the potential benefits of measuring the maximum pedaling speed using 3D depth camera in a VR environment as an indirect assessment of muscle strength. However, technological improvements must be followed to obtain more accurate estimation of muscle strength from the VR cycling test.

A Correlation Study Using the Sonogram Between the Muscle Strength and the Diameter of Biceps Brachii Muscle (윗팔두갈래근의 근력과 근육직경 간의 상관성에 대한 초음파 영상 연구)

  • Background: The purpose of our experimental study, we want to know a correlation study using the sonogram between the muscle strength and the diameter of Biceps brachii muscle by gender. So we set to hypothesis that Biceps brachii contracted maximally would be a diameter of the muscles increased according to the muscle strength will be increased. Methods: In this study, we measured the muscle strength of biceps brachii on contracting its maximum using the Biodex and the diameter of the muscles using Myo-Lab (25Gold). We experimented 30 subjects of twenty-aged men and women. The subjects is comprised of a persons who has not external injuries and pain of elbow joint, no mobility limitation of ROM, no experiences of surgery in past history. Result: We found that the men have a highly correlation between maximum strength and the diameter of the muscles more than women (p<.05). Conclusion: The results of our experimental study between the muscle diameter and the muscle strength to biceps brachii on relaxation and contraction is a statistically significant relation (r=.394), especially in rather men then women (p<.05). So this results would be based data for further clinical muscle efficiency application in physical therapy field.

Correlation among Motor Function and Gait Velocity, and Explanatory Variable of Gait Velocity in Chronic Stroke Survivors

  • Objective: The purpose of this study to investigate the correlations among the motor function, balance, and gait velocity and the strength that could explain the variation of gait velocity of chronic stroke survivors. Design: This was a cross-sectional cohort study. Methods: Thirty hemiplegic stroke survivors hospitalized in an inpatient rehabilitation center were participated. The muscle tone of ankle plantarflexor and muscle strength of ankle dorsiflexor were measured respectively with modified Ashworth scale (MAS) and hand-held dynamometer. And the motor recovery and function with Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA), balance with Berg balance scale (BBS) and timed up and go (TUG) test were measured. Gait velocity was measured with GAITRite. The correlation among motor function, muscle tone, muscle strength, balance, and gait were analyzed. In addition, the strength of the relationship between the response (gait velocity) and the explanatory variables was analyzed. Results: The gait velocity had positive correlations with FMA, muscle strength, and BBS, and negative correlation with MAS and TUG. Regression analysis showed that TUG (𝛽=-0.829) was a major explanatory variable for gait velocity. Conclusions: Our results suggest that gait velocity had correlations with muscle strength, MAS, FMA, BBS, and TUG. The tests and measurements affecting the variation of gait velocity the greatest were TUG, followed by FMA, BBS, muscle strength, and MAS. This study shows that TUG would be a possible assessment tool to determine the variation of gait velocity in stroke rehabilitation.

Strength Estimation of the High Strength Concrete by using Rock Test Hammer (암반용 테스트해머 사용에 의한 고강도콘크리트의 강도추정)

  • This paper intends to review possible application in the high strength area through compressive strength estimation of the simulated high strength concrete member using Rock Test Hammer and suggest it as a reference data for the strength estimation technique of the ultra high strength concrete in the future. From the results of our test, in the low strength area less than 15MPa and normal strength area in 15~60MPa, as shown on the existing studies, it is indicated that P Type Schmidt Hammer in the low strength area and N Type Schmidt Hammer in the normal strength area have high correlation of rebound-compressive strength. As the Rock Test Hammer indicated more or less reduced accuracy in the low strength area and the normal strength area but high correlation on the high strength area (50~100MPa) defined on this test, it is determined that it would be possible to make the fastest and simplest compressive strength estimation on the site where the high strength concrete is applied.
