올래의 지속가능한 재생방식에 관한 연구 - 제주시 무근성 지역을 중심으로 - (Discussion on Sustaining "Olle" without Losing Integrity of Local Identity - Focused on downtown area called Mu-geun-sung at Jeju city -)

  • There are still a number of "olles" existing with traditional alley characteristics in the inner city of Jeju. As a matter of fact, the renovation of old buildings and the protection of alley space are facing a dilemma due to the existence of less than 4m-width-roads in the area of "Mu-geun-sung". This study examines the current status of alley space in "Mu-geun-sung" area; and puts forward to the potential possibility and limitation of alley space regeneration via exploring the applicable scheme of building agreement. In the field survey, a number of regions in inner city of Jeju witnesses the existing majority of invaluable, conventional olles. So as to grasp the feasibility in "Mu-geun-sung" area, we designs a simulating experiment to carry out the Building Agreement; and compares with the current development model in this area. Building Agreement implies to establish gradually a separation of land ownership under the existing unified development of landowners and users, thus to explore a variety of land exploitation systems by separating land ownership and right to use land. As a result, the deterioration of the street landscape results from the increase of building storey numbers. The damages to the surrounding environment brought by the newly built buildings will be minimized as well as keeping the maximum building volume rate. Obviously, these measures will alleviate infringement to the traditional residential sunlight and privacy space effectively, and reduce the pressure from high-rise buildings to the alley space, so that the landscape of the alley will enhance to form a more comfortable alley environment.

서문교 활용방안 기본계획 (Master plan of Seomoon Bridge Area)

  • The Seomoon Bridge, a new planning site, is located in Sangdang-Gu Seomoon-Dong, Chongju and is the oldest bridge built during the rule of Japanese imperialism. As the name implies, Seomoon Bridge is located on the site adjacent to west gate. The Seomoon Bridge is an important bridge as an historical trace of the vanished town of Chongu. However, as new roads and bridges are built, the Seomoon Bridge is losing its functional aspects and has become an area crowed by many street stalls. Closely located newer to Sajic Fountain, the Seomoon Bridge, which has symbolically significant meaning, now faces many problems such as non-practical use of bridge, indifferent management and non-locality, which creates a negative effect on the surrounding cityscape. given this situation, in 2001, 2, Chongju city published an appeal for public subscription of a practical use plan which may design a new, landmark and establish resting spaces for the public. The basic direction of this planning is designed to be place as the symbolic space representing Chongju, and integrated with the surrounding environmental elements such as Moosim-Cheon(stream) and Sajic Fountain, and as a recreational, resting and leisure space of the public. Especially nightscape of the bridge inspires a fresh impact on many people. Because of the widespread influence of developed cities, diverse spaces which already exist or have disappeared may be reclaimed. By establishing appropriate use plans rather than negligence, this project will propose the improved quality of cityscape and show the possibility of bublic´s outdoor living space, and our team will find out the meaning in these approach methods.

올림픽대로의 경관향상을 위한 가로공간 구성요소의 물리량과 심리량 분석에 관한 연구 (Studios on the Physical and Psychological Analysis in Street Spaces for Improving the Streetscape of Olympic Daero)

  • Environmental design pattern of the nine Small Urban Spaces at C.B.D. in City of Seoul are surveyed and analyzed for user's satisfaction and behavior under the environmental design evaluation by using Chrisopher Alexander's Pattern Language. Small Urban Spaces as a part of streetscape are formed by physical factors as well as visual environment and interacting user's behavior. Therefore, user's satisfacuion and behavior at the nine Urban Small Spaces were investigated under the further search for some possibilities of a pplication of those Pattern Languages. A pattern language has a structure of a network. It is used in sequence, going through the patterns, moving always from large patterns to smaller, always from the ones which create comes simply from the obsernation that most of the wonderful places of the city were not made by architects but by the people. It defines the limited number of arrangements of spaces that make sense in any given culture. And it actually gives us the power to generate these coherent arrangement of space. As a results, 'Plazl', 'Seats' and 'Accessibility' related design patterns are highly evaluated by Pattern Frequency, Pattern Interaction and their Composition ranks, thus reconfirm Whyte's Praise of urban Small Spaces in our inner city design environments. According to the multiple regression analysis of user's evaluation, the environmental functins related to the satisfaction were 'Plaza', 'Accessibility' and 'Paving'. According to the free response, user's prefer such visually pleasing environmental design object as 'Waterscape' and 'Setting'. In addition to, the basic needs in Urban Small Spaces are amenity facilities as bench, drinking water and shade for rest.

IPA를 활용한 농촌중심지 활성화 사업에 대한 거주민 인식 - 장수군 장계면을 중심으로 - (The Residents' Perceptions on the Revitalization Project of Rural Centers Utilizing IPA - The Case of Janggye-myeon of Jangsu-gun -)

  • The purpose of this study is to assess residents' perception of the revitalization projects of the rural center and to evaluate their views of the projects' importance and their levels of satisfaction with how they have been carried out. In this study, we measured the residents' perceptions and preferences regarding these projects by using Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA). Results showed that residents' perceptions and satisfaction were the highest for the projects providing welfare facilities, even though this project has little relevance to the overall project goal. Residents were dissatisfied with construction projects such as the building of cultural facilities and urban parks, even while recognizing their importance. It is necessary to establish what problem the people perceive and to manage them appropriately. Next, the residents did not appreciate the community empowerment projects, nor did they evaluate the contents of the program positively. It can therefore be seen that the community empowerment projects have not been carried out well. Finally, the street landscape improvement project was not successfully implemented compared to other projects. The residents have negatively perceived the installation of facilities that they do not want, rarely use, or are poorly operated. this shows that the evaluation of residents is significant. They become the users of the revitalization project for the rural center. It is necessary to overcome problems such as project items chosen by professionals without local consultation and obvious design in the revitalization project of the local center. There is a need to ascertain the residents' opinion of each project and to encourage them to participate directly in the management operation.

아로요 파크웨이 조경설계 (Streetscape Design of Arroyo Parkway, Pasadena, California)

  • The Pasadena Freeway follows the Arroyo Seco through foothills and scenic passes to link Downtown Los Angeles with Pasadena. The approximately 10 mile road was the first freeway built in the West during the 1930's and is today designated as a Historic Parkway. As it approaches Pasadena, it terminates at a traffic light intersection at Glenarm Street, and then becomes a commercial road the Arroyo Parkway. This one and a quarter mile long, north south road moves significant volumes of traffic both into and out of Pasadena. The Arroyo Parkway is thus a major 'gateway' and an important axis of orientation and movement, terminating in the City's core civic, commercial and retail district. Planting, lighting, signage, paving, furnishing and fixtures ought to all be properly designed and coordinated to create a distinctive 'gateway' experience arriving to Pasadena and driving along the Arroyo Parkway. Alternate design studies, developed in discussion with City officials and others involved in the redevelopment of the area, would need to be done to properly decide on the best direction. Issues of heritage and traditional streetscape will likely have to be reconciled with both the reality of the vehicular character of the road and more contemporary themes. Obviously with such large parcels of property available in the Arroyo Fair Oaks corridor, there is a huge potential for redevelopment and building. This potential would only be strengthened by the Light Rail Line and its stations, the improvements to the Arroyo Parkway, and the redevelopment of the Arts Center College of Design. Guides and controls to the development process, including programming and physical design studies, would need to be developed in order to ensure that the maximum potential for the corridor be realized. This concept proposal suggests that the whole strip might be developed as a Arts and Technology corridor, with special emphases on education, public culture, media and lifestyle. The full programming possibilities need to be further developed. Additionally, appropriate urban design guidelines to ensure high quality development also need to be incorporated into an overall development plan.

도시의 수목이 기온의 조절에 미치는 영향 (Influences of Urban Trees on the Control of the Temperature)

  • The purpose of this paper is to discuss the function of microclimate amelioration of urban trees regarding the environmental benefits of street trees in summer, focusing on the heat pollution-urban heat island, tropical climate day's phenomenon and air pollution. We measured the diurnal variation of air/ground temperatures and humidity within the vegetation canopy with the meteorological tower observation system. Summertime air temperatures within the vegetation canopy layer were 1-2$^{\circ}C$ cooler than in places with no vegetation. Due to lack of evaporation, the ground surface temperatures of footpaths were, at a midafternoon maximum, 8$^{\circ}C$ hotter than those under trees. This means that heat flows from a place with no vegetation to a vegetation canopy layer during the daytime. The heat is consumed as a evaporation latent heat. These results suggest that the extension of vegetation canopy bring about a more pleasant urban climate. Diurnal variation of air/ground temperatures and humidity within the vegetation canopy were measured with the meteorological tower observation system. According to the findings, summertime air temperatures under a vegetation canopy layer were 1-2$^{\circ}C$ cooler than places with no vegetation. Due mainly to lack of evaporation the ground surface temperature of footpaths were up to 8$^{\circ}C$ hotter than under trees during mid-afternoon. This means that heat flows from a place where there is no vegetation to another place where there is a vegetation canopy layer during the daytime. Through the energy redistribution analysis, we ascertain that the major part of solar radiation reaching the vegetation cover is consumed as a evaporation latent heat. This result suggests that the expansion of vegetation cover creates a more pleasant urban climate through the cooling effect in summer. Vegetation plays an important role because of its special properties with energy balance. Depended on their evapotranspiration, vegetation cover and water surfaces diminish the peaks of temperature during the day. The skill to make the best use of the vegetation effect in urban areas is a very important planning device to optimize urban climate. Numerical simulation study to examine the vegetation effects on urban climate will be published in our next research paper.

도시가로경관의 이미지 동질화를 위한 환경설계적 고찰 - 대구시 동성로를 중심으로 (An Environmental Study on the Image Identification of Urban Streetscape (The Case Study of Tongsung-Ro in Taegu City))

  • A study on the image identification of urban streetscape is valuable for illuminating identity that is not yet fully approached in the field of environmental design. This analysis of urban streetscape for image identification allows us to make a more detailed exploration of an important approaching methods in dealing with the structural characteristics of identity. As a matter of fact, the earlier indirect studies on this image identification were made by environmental designers, such as architectural and urban designer in the field of environmental perception and came to its environmental cognition & environmental pattern research with assistances by such researchers as K. Lynch A. Rapoport & Christopher Alexander. Through its environmental perception research, we can see its structural characteristics that is aesthetic & visual structural contents of physical environmental elements. And we can see its cognitive characteristics through the environmental cognitive research, that is continuity, territoriality, identity of place, uniqueness or individuality, meaning & symbolism. Through its environmental pattern research, we can see its physical, socio - economic, cultural and symbolic pattern identification contents, that is physical form of the city, style of the street, pattern of streetscape, socio- economic & geographical locality, arid life cycle, life style, common style of the behavior, cultural pattern of the activity, socio - cultural expression of the symbol. In these process, we can set up a set of the environmental design criterias from those three integral studies for identity. And for an environmental research, Tongsung-Ro around the CBD (central business district) in Taegu City was selected for a case study, because this streetscape is suitable for that approaching methods in this study.

이민자 공동체의 공간적 경관 (Spatial Landscape of Immigrant Communities in Seoul)

  • 도시 경관의 다양성은 건축물과 가로패턴, 그리고 사람들의 인문적 특성 이른바 언어와 색과 움직임 등의 동태적 특성에 의해 정립된다. 한국의 해외이주민의 증가와 함께 지역사회의 행정과 국토정책상 새로운 지침이 필요하다. 2000년대 이후 꾸준히 증가하는 외국인 이주민에 대해 행정, 사회학적, 그리고 지리적 연구가 이루어지고 있지만, 각 국가별 민족별 상이한 문화와 생활양식이 기존 주류사회와 어떠한 통합 과정을 거치고 안전하고 건강한 공간성을 구축할 수 있는지에 대한 정밀한 실험은 미흡한 상황이다. 통계적 데이터의 결핍된 부분과 소수 비율의 외국인 거주자에 대한 대표성을 파악하기에 한계가 있다. 지역사회의 통합적 전략에 대한 핵심요소를 지표화하기 위해서 외국인 이주자들의 거주지 행태와 공간적 특성이 우선 파악되어야 한다. 통계적으로 계량화하기 어려운 소수의 공동체에 관한 공간적 요소를 분석을 위해 경관적 접근을 실험해보고자 한다.

경관체함이 발생하는 조망점의 지리구조에 관한 연구;양산시 소재 산지를 대상으로 (Geographical Structure of View Point in the Landscape Experience on Mountain in Yangsan City)

  • 본 연구는 경관이 발생하는 조망점에서 체험되는 시각특성과 그 조망점에서의 경관체헝을 극적으로 이끄는 지리 구조를 양산시에 소재하고 있는 산지 경관의 사례 연구를 통하여 밝현 것이며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 양산시 소재 6개의 산을 대상으로 그 산을 체험할 수 있는 조망점을 40개소 선정하였다. 이들 조망점에서 파악된 산지경관 조망점에서 조망대상이 중거리역에 주로 분포하고 있으며, 시각크기는 산과 대변하는 느낌을 주는 앙각 11${\sim}13^{\circ}$, 시야 전체를 차지하고 광대한 인상을 주는 수평각 50${\sim}90^{\circ}$라는 것을 알 수 있었다. 양산시에서는 도시민이 산의 느낄 수 있는 거리대에서 대면적 관계로 산지경관을 지각하고 있다. 이어서 인상적인 경관체험을 유발하는 조망점의 지리 구조를 8개 의 유형으로 분류하였으며, 그 특성을 고찰하였다. 산이 건물이나 길가의 수목 등의 주변 환경이 만들어낸 좁고 긴 선형의 공간을 형성하는 회랑형이 7개소, 또 산을 교량 또는 고가도로의 하부나 터널을 지날 때 가려졌던 시야와 빛이 열리면서 체험하게 되는 터널형이 2개 소, 산세를 따라 굽이지는 길의 마지막에 나타나는 미로형이 4개소, 교차로에서 방향을 전환하거나 건물이나 산자락을 끼고 돌 때 동선방향이 바뀌는 순간 나타나는 모롱이형이 8개소, 오르막 경사의 마루에서 나타나는 고개마루형이 3개소, 산이 관찰자와 같은 진행방향으로 길게 누워져 있을 때 차창에 지속적으로 나타나는 평행형이 4개소, 고립되어 있는 산파 형태인 대변형이 5개소, 마을, 도시 등의 지역 경제나 교량, 광장과 같은 주요 지점을 지날 때 나타났다. 산지 경관이 인상적으로 체험되기 위해서는 조망점뿐 아니라 그곳으로 다가가는 지리구조도 아울러 중요하다는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 성과는 산지경관의 관리 및 보존과 경관자원도 등 경관영향평가의 기초자료를 수집하는 기초 자료가 될 것이다. 또 경관도로의 정비 등에도 응용할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

스마트공원 개념 정립 및 공원 이용자 인식에 관한 연구 - 대구 IoT See 시범사업 공원 이용자를 대상으로 - (A Study on the Concept and User Perception of Smart Park - Focused on the IoT See Park Users in Daegu City -)

  • 최신 정보통신기술이 다양한 분야에 접목되면서 우리의 일상은 급격한 속도로 변화하고 있으며, 스마트시티 개념이 확산되고 있는 반면, 조경분야에서는 기술진화에 의한 사회변화에 대비하려는 노력이 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 스마트공원의 개념을 정립하고, 공원 관련 스마트 기술 도입 현황을 파악하며, 기존에 조성된 스마트공원의 서비스에 대한 이용자의 인식과 활용도를 파악함으로써 향후 스마트공원 조성을 위한 기초자료를 제공하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 관련 문헌 및 선행연구 고찰, 전문가 토론, 국내외 사례조사를 실시하였으며, 국내 최초로 스마트공원 시범사업이 시행된 대구시 국채보상운동 기념공원의 이용자를 대상으로 스마트공원에 대한 인식 정도와 서비스 만족도를 조사하였다. 연구결과, 스마트공원이란 다양한 첨단 기술을 활용하여 이용자의 공원 체험을 향상하고, 효율적으로 공원을 유지 관리하며, 도시가 직면한 사회 및 환경문제를 해결하는 지속가능한 공원으로 정의할 수 있다. 현재까지 공원에 도입된 스마트기술은 인공지능 CCTV, 스마트 가로등, 미세먼지 알림장치 등 주로 안전 및 환경 분야에 집중된 것으로 나타났다. 실제 이러한 기술이 도입된 국채보상운동기념공원 이용자들을 대상으로 한 인식조사 결과, 홍보 부족 및 관리인 편의 중심의 기술도입으로 인하여 실제 이용자의 인식 정도는 매우 낮은 편이었다. 특히 역사성 있는 공원의 역사정보 전달을 위한 AR서비스 활용이 가장 저조한 반면, 태양열 벤치나 WiFi 등의 시설의 활용도가 가장 많은 것으로 조사되었다. 향후 스마트공원 조성 시 안전 및 환경 관리, 편의성 증진을 위한 서비스 뿐 아니라, 이용자가 체감할 수 있고, 이용자 요구에 맞는 다양한 콘텐츠 개발을 위한 노력이 필요할 것이다.
