  • Diverse improvement projects such as replacing street lamps with LED, street trees, etc are currently in progress in Korea to reduce greenhouse gas so as to cope with change in climate. However, the effect of climate change policy is not exactly analyzed, because exhaust quantity and absorption quantity of greenhouse gas of the target street lamp and street trees are not arranged as information. Thus, this study studied the method to systematically manage low carbon related information of urban facilities by using GIS. It was found that low carbon information of the urban facilities is necessary to exactly analyze effect of climate change policy and the method to calculate carbon exhaust quantity and absorption quantity of each facilities should be established to build exact low carbon information of urban facilities. Further, it was found that the visualization of information related to low carbon of street lamp and street trees by using GIS easily and visually grasps and systematically controls the effect of policy coping with change in climate than the existing numeral data of exhaust quantity and absorption quantity of greenhouse gas.

  • This study was to evaluate the walking speed of elderly people by using the travel route big data collected by travel diary and smart phone application. We analyzed the change of walking behavior in the residential street environments of the elderly whether they had a company or not. We interpreted the meaning based on previous studies. In addition, the characteristics of elderly people's use of the residential street environment were analyzed by comparing the change in spatial speed according to the companion. The result reveals that the usage patterns of the residential street environments change depending on whether they were accompanied or not. First, the elderly tend to do more social activities while walking alone than when they were accompanied. When they were accompanied the social activities occur in empty lot near the residential area. However, the social activities of the elderly occur in open space such as neighborhood park or playground while walking alone. Finally, This study has strength that it empirically analyzes the elderly's walking behavior and usage paths in small outdoor spaces, including residential streets.

  • Every Society has it's own ideology and lifestyle and these form its unique aesthetic experience or values. In the paper observing recent, especially in 1980s and 1990s. Korean street fashion that is one way of expressing their values and lifestyle, the aesthetic values related to the morality have been studied. Through the studies using the cafes of Korean street fashion style we can understand the change of morality and fashion style according to the change of socio-cultural environments more deeply. For study methods documentary study and case study were executed. Morality related clothing were defined in detail through documentary studies and for analysis of street fashion from 1980s and 1990s the cases from 'Mut' and 'Ceci' magazines as well as the articles from Chosunilbo, Dongailbo and Maeilkyungje were looked over one by one. By understanding the intrinsic meanings and formal features of resent Korean street fashion, the direction for future fashion designing could be guided, which could satisfy consumers' needs in the rapidly changing world situation. Followings are the results of the study. First, morality of clothing could be defined in detail regarding modesty and extravagance. Modesty could be directly related to exposure of body and norms for appearances and extravagance to fashion oriented, luxury goods or brand name oriented and spending. Second, the exposing body has been accepted and permitted by public even with criticism more easily but they were less generous to values about norms regarding clothing. Third, the change of morality related to modest has happened earlier than the change of morality related to extravagance, which has begun very recently in 2000s.

Essential architectural elements composing the Hospital Design Focused on System are as follows. First of all, the elements which can react to development of hospital architecture are HOSPITAL STREET and site situation. Secondly, core, equipment shaft, column, MAIN STREET and air handling unit room are elements of great importance as the location of these elements determines the dimensions and scale of the space which hospital functions are assigned to. Third, the area in regard to the rate of change is formed by MAIN STREET, which is the primary element, and envelope. The depth between MAIN STREET and envelope is defined as space depth. The flexible area is determined depending on this space depth and thus how to set up this flexible area determines the degree of readiness in responding to the change.

  • As passing through the Japanese colonial period, Daegu has been changed into a modern city. In addition, the nature of the city had changed a lot by withdrawal of Eup-sung and the opening of the road and the increase of population in Japan. Of course, the expansion of the city was caused by the increase of the Japanese population. To understand the current city, it is most important to understand the past city's characteristics and especially the formation and change of city must be considered with understanding the situation of city. And now the city reflects the role of the city in the past. In fact, the effect of the street constitution in Daegu Eup-sung during Japanese colonial period on the present time was very big and continues. Especially, in order to understand the situation of the city and consider the direction in the future, the analysis of the development process has important implications. This study aimed to consider the change of Daegu Eup-sung Street and Formation of Dwelling Site focusing on the Buksung Street. The purpose of this study is to investigate the nature of the city and changing process of the city by the past Buksung street and the current Buksung street as time goes by.

  • This study focused on the possibility of reducing the cooling load through the change of micro climate in the outdoor space during summer season. This study proposes an efficient planning model by comparing the effects of urban heat island mitigation through wind path planning, outdoor space vegetation, and exterior material change by using the basic model of the street-oriented block housing proposed in the previous research by the same author. As a result, the most effective wind path planning strategy in the street-oriented block housing was the change of the air flow through the mass height adjustment. When the tall building masses were staggered and arranged in a balanced manner, the overall wind environment could be improved. The greater the height difference between low and high masses, the better the air flow was shown. It was also important to arrange the building masses so that the inlet of the main wind was open and to allow the external space to connect to the adjacent block to create a continuous flow. The change of outdoor space vegetation and flooring, and the formation of wind paths through the opening of lower part also showed the effect of heat island reduction. In addition, the change of PMV in summer was the biggest influence of shadow by tall building mass. Attention should be paid to the fact that high-albedo exterior materials are adversely affected by multiple reflections in dense street-oriented block housing. The use of albedo of the exterior material showed that it is necessary to pay attention to apply in the high density block housing. This is attributed to the rise of the temperature due to the absorption of energy into the low-albedo flooring, where the high-albedo exterior causes multiple reflections.

  • These days, the use of alternative energy is recognized as one of countermeasures to rising oil prices and climate-change agreements. Especially, it is regarded as a main element to realize 'Low-Carbon Green Growth', one of the key policies of MB government. However, though alternative energy, renewable energy, is a main policy issue of the present administration, there are many problems to solve: the lack of recognition of its energy, the low level of its technology, its expert's shortage, and its limited application fields. Therefore, to stimulate the use of alternative energy in Korea and to change the recognition of this energy, it is needed to utilize it to urban street furniture that many people visit and use. In particular, if alternative energy is first applied to street furniture that needs energy for its management, the effect of publicity and energy saving will be so great. In this study, for the basic research to introduce and promote various alternative energy sources such as solar power, wind power, small hydro power, and human power, we analyzed the present condition of development of Korean and foreign street furniture items. Furthermore, we evaluated the level of development of these street furniture products and the design types of them and from these evaluations suggested the design direction that can solve problems in development and improve the possibility of application of these energy sources to these street furniture items. Through these analyses, this study aims to enhance the image of future environment-friendly city and make new index for the application of alternative energy.
