  • In order to align the shaft, the dialgauge method has used as a means of solution until now. The method using a dialgauge require a great deal of labour and money due to making by hand, the accurate alignmentis not up to the expectation. For aligning the shaft, all the rotor must come to accord. It means that the moment of the point of coupling must keep being "Zero". The ideal measurement method as to material on the zero is used by straingauge which can gauge the moment at any point of the shaft. Also, the dialgauge method cannot be compared with straingauge measurement method, form the viewpoint, which can gauge in short time.hort time.

  • ESPE(Electonic-Speckle-Pattern-Interferometry) is very useful method for measuring In-plane displacement. Using the CW-Laser and Image processing system, it is possible to measure displacement and strain. Unlike traditional straingauge or moire' method, ESPI method requires no special surface preparation or attachments and can be measured In-plane displacement with no contact and real time. In this experimental specimen was loaded in paralled with loadcell, which provided loading step. The specimen was sheet plate, which was attached straingauge in x-y direction. In this study provides an example of how ESPI has been used to measure two dimensional displacement and strain distribution in this specimen. The results measured by ESPI compare with the data which was measured straingauge method in tensile testing at 1 ton range.

  • This paper reports hyperelastically stretchable strain gauges based on liquid metal (eutectic gallium-indium;EGaIn) and a platinum-catalyzed silicone elastomer ($Ecoflex^{TM}$). A custom liquidmetal patterning setup was operated to fabricate liquidmetal straingauge on flexible substrate. The printed strain gauges were tested under cyclic uniaxial stretching, twisting, even bending of human finger. By engineering the orientation of solid wires placed over two terminals of t he printed liquid metal resistor, we stably achieved the stretchability of ~800 % which is the highest value reported so far, to the best of our knowledge.

  • For a short-term measurement to reduce an accident on a railroad crossing, it is necessary to find out the weakness and problems of existing equipment in the railroad transportation system. The analysis of railroad crossing accidents shows that main causes of accidents (24.9%) are the careless driving including an engine problem, damage on the safety equipment, slide on the snow, and an engine stop on the railroad crossing. Therefore, it is required to install a sensor, or to make a crossing gate at the exist for detecting obstacles on a railroad to prevent collisions among trains. This paper suggests 'a panel sensor using the strain gauge' to make up the weaknesses of the sensing Dead Zone, which are caused by using a laser method, and to detect any small objects passing railroads in order to reduce the errors, which are occurred in the earth magnetic field for controlling Exit Slide Crossing Arm Detector. The device, suggested in this paper, is verified with detecting any small objects passing the railroad, with judging entry decision clearly, and with controlling passing gate and obstruction warnings/cautions obstacles at the same time, through an experimental test.

  • This study was performed to investigate the effects of tooth mobility and design of the direct retainer on the stress of supporting tissues in distal extension removable partial denture. Tooth mobility was simulated and four different types of direct retainer such as Alters clasp, I-bar clasp, wrought wire clasp, and Dalbo attachment were designed and stress on the support-ing tissues were measured and analyzed with straingauge method. The following conclusions were drawn from this study. 1. The stress revealed at the lingual side of alveolar bone of the abutment tooth in edentulous area was the largest. 2. The stress at the lingual side of alveolar bone of the abutment tooth in edentulous area was increased according to the increase of tooth mobility in I-bar clasp and Dalbo attachment. 3. The stress at the residual ridge crest was the great in Dalbo attachment on mobility 0, in I-bar clasp on mobility 1, and in wrought wire clasp on mobility 2. 4. There was little changes of stress according to the increase of tooth mobility at buccal and lingual side of the residual ridge crest and around the abutment teeth in dentulous area.
