This paper conducted a simulation to research the motion of a vessel, which had the flooding accident in the Bering Sea in 2014, thereby being flooded and un-steerable. As the wind condition was very harsh, the vessel was modeled as 3D including large upper deck structures and the Fujiwara's method was used for an estimation of the effect of wind forces and moments acting on ship. In the case of wave influence, AQWA-Drift that enables considering the effects of drift force and AQWA-Naut that enables considering the effects of green water were mainly used. Basically, loading and flooding condition were equal to the accident condition but half-drained condition was also used to consider drain ability. Furthermore, both 6 DOF and 5 DOF option that Yaw motion is fixed, were utilized to compare the steerable and un-steerable condition. As a result, the author found out that what roll angle triggers green water, how often it happens, and how the vessel moves on the stormy weather condition.

In order to improve navigational safety of ships, on ocean wave prediction model of high precision within a short time, dealing with multi-directional random waves from the information of the sea surface winds encountered at the planned ship's course, was introduced for construction of ocean wave forecasting system on the ship. In this paper, we investigated a sea disaster occurred by a stormy weather in the past. We analyzed the sea surface winds first and then carried out ocean wave hindercasting simulations according to the routes of the sunken vessel. From the result of this study, we concluded that the sea disaster was caused by rapidly developed low pressure system in Okhotsk Sea and the predicted values by the third generation wave prediction model(WAM) was agreed well with the observed significant wave height, was period, and directional wave spectrum. It gives a good applicability for construction of a practical on-board calculation system.
The requirements of disaster prevention have been constantly increasing on highly disaster frequency by Global warming and environmental destruction. The damage occur more highly, especially when it's on the localized change of weather. It requires that we have methods of disaster prevention locally. In this paper, we design and implement a breakwater disaster prevention system integrated wireless sensor technique for the shore breakwater of East Sea that is raised anxiety about an accident occurrence due to stormy weather. The provided disaster prevention system perceive the seriousness of the situation that is chance of that happening by the information of realtime remote situation and a prediction system so that it could be of some help to reduce the damage of disaster and the cost of recovery.

The magnitude of breaking wave forces given by plunging breakers incident on a pile structure is much greater than the forces calculated by Morison's formula, but those forces may act on pile for very short duration in the range of a few multiples of 0.01 second. Hence, a dynamic analysis for the impact forces of breaking waves may be necessary for the accurate determination of pile displacements in the first stage of design. The time series of the impact force along the pile length is thus required, which may be estimated from the pressure distribution. In the present study, breaking wave pressures are measured for a vertical pile at real field which is easily subjected to plunging breakers in stormy weather conditions. The measured data are analyzed and compared with other results to quantify the characteristics of breaking wave pressures in real fields.
The Navigational System is the Fundamental System of Port Transportation System and comprises 3 Subsystems, say, the Waterway System, the Shiphandling System and the Support System. The Waterway System of Navigational System is the important and fundamental System for Traffic Safety inside the Port like a Car Road System on Land. This study aims to make a Guideline for the Optimal Waterway System of Port Development and Safety. The Conclusion of this Paper are drawn : 1) The complicated Shiphandling Operations should be avoided for the period of Physical night Time for eliminating the Human Errors. 2) For the Maneuverability and all-weather Combined Piloting the Inside Turn Point Buoy and Begin the-turn Buoy should be mounted with Racon(T) and Radar Reflector for foggy and bad weathers. 3) The Seabuoy located in the Approaching Area for Pilot Station and making Landfall should be mounted with Racon(G) and Morese A Light for giving a Hint of Pilot Station to the Captain on the Bridge, and these Equipments of Racon and Light should be operated normally and effectively even in a Heavy and stormy weathers. 4) A Basic Practical Expression, 1/2 L sin D, for calculating the Extra Width of Cutoff Turn Regions was derived Originally from the Viewpoint of Turn Maneuvers and Maneuverability of the Ship.

Because stow net being used in now is doing throwing net and hauling net through a ship's side, the work is very complicated and the fishing boat needs many seamen and it could cause a loss of lives and ship in stormy weather. We are now using small mesh size 36~500mm and it even catches young fish, so we call it the fishing gear of resource reduction type. Therefore we must make manpower reduction in automatic operation, safe operation of throwing net and hauling net in the stern and the stern-typed stow net of resource management using large mesh. And we performed three-typed model tests to examine the fishing gear. The obtained results are as follows;1. The fishing gear being used in the ship's side type stow net has inappropriate standard and arrangement of the net, resistance increase of the fishing gear and frequent breakdown of the net.2. To supplement the fault of A-typed stow net, we schemed fishing gear developed as both B-type(12-seamed net) and C-types(8-seamed net) of the stern-typed stow net. 3. In model tests, C-typed model net(mesh size 40~1,600mm) was proved good fishing gear because the resistance in accordance with the flowing speed was comparatively small and it's mouth area was broad. 4. A-typed stow net had the spreading device attached to side panel of the net, but the stern-typed stow net had the spreading device consisted of 4 lines far behind about 6m from side panel of the net mouth. In the flowing speed 2knot, the spreading condition of fishing gear was proved batter than the former.
To ensure the safety for vessels anchored in stormy weather, duty officer and VTS operator have to frequently check whether their anchors are dragging. To judge dragging of the anchored vessel, it is important for VTS operator to recognize the turning circle and its center of the anchored vessel. The judgement for the anchored vessel dragging can be made by using Radar and AIS. If it is available, CCTV or eye-sighting can be used to know the center of turing circle. However, the VTS system collects individual ship's dynamic information from AIS and ARPA radar and monitors of the anchored vessels, it is difficult for VTS operator not only to get the detailed status information of the vessels, but also to know the center of turning circle. In this study, we propose an efficient algorithm to estimate the center of turning circle of anchored vessel by using the ship's heading and position data, which were from AIS. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, the experimental study was made for the anchored vessel under real environments.
Slope failures are one of the significant disasters which causes lots of human casualties and huge financial losses every year. Previous researches on the slope failure have indicated that most accidents are closely related to the pore water pressure in the slope due to rainfall during the rainy seasons or stormy weather conditions. It would be therefore appropriate to consider the effect of pore water pressure in the design of slopes. As the existing slopes are generally reinforced by plants and other slope protecting measures, their boundary conditions are highly complicated. In this paper an attempt to develop a new modeling and analysis technique of slopes is proposed by including pore water pressure and adopting the coupled finite element method. Non-reinforced and reinforced slope models are considered. Representative analysis showed that the numerical modeling considering pore water pressure is appropriate in slope stability analysis. Flow behavior in the slopes is identified for various hydraulic boundary conditions. It is also shown that the effect of pore water pressure on slope stability is significant.

Natural shoreline repeats its re-treatment and advance in response to the endlessly varying sea-conditions, and once severely eroded under stormy weather conditions, natural beaches are gradually recovered via a boundary layer streaming when swells are prevailing after storms cease. Our understanding of the boundary layer streaming over surf-zone often falls short despite its great engineering value, and here it should be noted that the most sediments available along the shore are supplied over the surf-zone. In this rationale, numerical simulation was implemented to investigate the hydraulic characteristics of boundary layer streaming over the surf zone in this study. In doing so, comprehensive numerical models made of Spatially filtered Navier-Stokes Eq., LES (Large Eddy Simulation), Dynamic Smagorinsky turbulence closure were used, and the effects of turbulence closure such as Dynamic Smagorinsky in LES and k-ε on the numerically simulated flow field were also investigated. Numerical results show that due to the intrinsic limits of k-ε turbulence model, numerically simulated flow velocity near the bottom based on k-ε model and wall function are over-predicted than the one using Dynamic Smagorinsky in LES. It is also shown that flow velocities near the bottom are faster than the one above the bottom which are relatively free from the presence of the bottom, complying the typical boundary layer streaming by Longuet-Higgins (1957), the spatial scope where boundary layer streaming are occurring is extended well into the surf zone as incoming waves are getting longer. These tendencies are plausible considering that it is the bottom friction that triggers a boundary layer streaming, and longer waves start to feel the bottom much faster than shorter waves.
