  • Stone -monuments, distributed in this area, have been investigated and studied in geological and conservational points of view. They are seemed to have been mainly built from the Shilla to Koryeo Kingdom, although more systematic studies are needed. The used rocks in these monuments are mainly biotite granite and hornblende-biotite granite of Jurassic age. The rock phases are nearly identical to those which are distributed in the area. The two rock phases are nearly same in the characteristics of minevalogy and texture except the amount of hornblende. However, hornblende-biotite granite characteristically contains aggregates of mafic minerals which are frequently observable in the monuments. They are mainly influenced by chemical weathering due to warm, abundant rainfall, and salty moisture because of being adjacent to the sea. Some cracks are secondarily developed which may be due to strong chemical weathering and influence of sculpturing. For conservation, it must be scientifically considered based on characteristics and kind of rock phase, factors on weathering process, situation and protection.

  • Stone-monuments, distributed in this area, have been investigated and studied on the characteristics and the rock phases in the geological and conservational points of view. Most of them may have been built from the end of the Shilla Kingdom to the Koryeo Kingdom, which are based on the typical characteristics of the form. The used rocks in these monuments are mainly biotite granite of the Jurassic age which is widely distributed around the area. Black slate and marbles are also used in some monuments, which may be obtained from other areas. The biotite granite of massive and coarse texture contains often inclusions of biotite aggregates or fragments of dioritic rock phase. However, the biotite granite in the area may be very weak to the chemical weathering so that irregular rock surface shows generally $2\~3mm$ relief. The irregular relief is mainly due to different relative degree on the chemical weathering according to the kind of minerals especially quartz, feldspar and biotite. The chemical weathering is also influenced by organisms. For conservation, they must be scientifically considered based on the characteristics, kind of the rock phase, factors on the weathering process, situation in situ or being transported, and protection.

  • Mongolian historical and cultural monuments on settlement areas of stone inscriptions, stone images, rock-drawings, remains of cities, architecture are still telling us their stories. These monuments depict the understanding of the word, philosophical and artistic outlook, beliefs, religion, national art, language, culture and traditions of Mongols [1]. Nowadays computer science, especially computer vision is applying in the other science fields. The main problem is how to apply and which algorithm can detect and classify the objects correctly. In this paper, we propose a method to detect object from Mongolian nomadic environment images. This work proposes a method for object detection that is the combination of the binary operations in the edge detection results. We found out the best method and parameters of state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms. In experimental result, we evaluate our results with 10-fold cross validation and split 66% strategies.

  • Most of the important stone cultural heritage (National treasures and Treasures) in Korea are mainly located outdoor and considerably affected by the changes of the temperature, humidity and rainfalls. 541 of the stone cultural heritage are preserved as National treasure and Treasure. The pagodas occupy 187 remains and next 127 Buddha statues, 68 monuments, 60 stupas, and the others 74 stone cultural heritages. The shelter has been installed for one pagoda, 60 Buddha statues, 36 monuments and two stupas. The shelters are categorized in three shapes as traditional shape, modern shape, and others (tradition+modern). Approximately 100 of shelters that have constructed in traditional ways, and about nine of shelters have modern ways, and the only one has the combination shape of tradition and modern, which has been constructed since mid 1900s and repaired from the 1980s~2000s. Many researchers are studying for improvement of manners such as repairing, remodeling or removing of the shelter because problems have occured on shelters. Architectural form of traditional style of Korean timber building is respected, but it has problems on importing natural sunlight to the inside as well as ventilation and spacial problems. However, it needs to supplement policies to improve the positive roles of shelters such as prevention of artificial damage, blocking acid rain, and so on. For instance, the rock-carved Buddha Triad in Seosan, it had problems with viewing, contamination, and dew condensation on the surface. These problems decreased after dismantling the shelter, the space was made for improvement of viewing and dew condensation, and moisture problems were in better conditions. The velocity wind is an important factor in drying conditions on the surface of the rock, therefore the condition has improved after dismantling the shelter.

  • Since the preservation of monuments is very important to human societies, different methods are required to preserve historic structures. In this paper, 3D model of arch stone bridge at Pont Saint Martin, Aosta, Italy, was simulated by 1660 integrated separate stones using ABAQUS$^{(R)}$ software to investigate the seismic susceptibility of the bridge. The main objective of this research was to study a method of preservation of the historical stone bridge against possible earthquakes using FRP techniques. The nonlinear behavior model of materials used theory of plasticity based on Drucker-Prager yield criterion. Then, contact behavior between the block and mortar was modeled. Also, Seismosignal software was used to collect data related to 1976 Friuli Earthquake Italy, which constitutes a real seismic loading. The results show that, retrofitting of the arch stone bridge using FRP techniques decreased displacement of stones of spandrel walls, which prevents the collapse of stones.
