  • One of the classic research problems in computer vision is that of stereo, i.e., the reconstruction of three dimensional shape from two or more images. This paper deals with the problem of extracting depth information of non-rigid dynamic 3D scenes from general 2D video sequences taken by monocular camera, such as movies, documentaries, and dramas. Depth of the blocks are extracted from the resultant block motions throughout following two steps: (i) calculation of global parameters concerned with camera translations and focal length using the locations of blocks and their motions, (ii) calculation of each block depth relative to average image depth using the global parameters and the location of the block and its motion, Both singular and non-singular cases are experimented with various video sequences. The resultant relative depths and ego-motion object shapes are virtually identical to human vision.

  • The demand for spatial data service technologies is increasing lately with the development of realistic 3D spatial information services and ICT (Information and Communication Technology). Research is being conducted on the real-time provision of spatial data services through a variety of mobile and Web-based contents. Big data or cloud computing can be presented as alternatives to the construction of spatial data for the effective use of large volumes of data. In this paper, the process of building HLM (Hyper Live Map) using multi-source data to acquire stereo CCTV and other various data is presented and a big data service architecture design is proposed for the use of flexible and scalable cloud computing to handle big data created by users through such media as social network services and black boxes. The provision of spatial data services in real time using big data and cloud computing will enable us to implement navigation systems, vehicle augmented reality, real-time 3D spatial information, and single picture based positioning above the single GPS level using low-cost image-based position recognition technology in the future. Furthermore, Big Data and Cloud Computing are also used for data collection and provision in U-City and Smart-City environment as well, and the big data service architecture will provide users with information in real time.

  • In this paper, we suggest a new method of detecting human skin-color regions from three-dimensional static or dynamic stereoscopic images by effectively integrating depth and color features. The suggested method first extracts depth information that represents the distance between a camera and an object from input left and right stereoscopic images through a stereo matching technique. It then performs labeling for pixels with similar depth features and determines the labeled regions having human skin color as actual skin color regions. Our experimental results show that the suggested skin region extraction method outperforms existing skin detection methods in terms of skin-color region extraction accuracy.

  • Recently, the quantity of using information go on increasing geometric-progression. At the same time, the management of information is effected on the most organization's effective operation so that many user call for the powerful equipment which expound. access more information. As information searching technology is concentrated about the object of information based on a letter mainly, an effective searching technology for the object of multimedia such as a still image, a video and a sound must be studied. As a monitor of computer is 2-D, it difficult for one to grasp the whole aspect at a look glance like a library. Accordingly, some condition is necessary. First, it acquired the virtual video, turning a camera around by 30 degrees with a camera of 15mm lens, giving a warping and distortion. Second, it improved the books for user to search easily, adding to the video in existing books information system. The original text suggests some way which can embody the video searching technology under the base of personal computer.

  • Long-term coastal topographical data is critical for analyzing temporal and spatial changes in shorelines. Especially understanding the change trends is essential for future coastal management. For this research, in the data preparation, we obtained digital aerial images, terrestrial laser scanning data and UAV images in the year of 2009. 2018 and 2019 respectively. Also tidal observation data obtained by the Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency were used for Bangamoeri beach located in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do. In the process of it, we applied the photogrammetric technique to extract the coastline of 4.40 m from the stereo images of 2009 by stereoscopic viewing. In 2018, digital elevation model was generated by using the raw data obtained from the laser scanner and the corresponding shoreline was semi-automatically extracted. In 2019, a digital elevation model was generated from the drone images to extract the coastline. Finally the change rate of shorelines was calculated using Digital Shoreline Analysis System. Also qualitative analysis was presented.

  • Despite geospatial information systems are widely used in many different fields as a powerful tool for spatial analysis and decision-making, their capabilities to handle realistic 3-D urban environment are very limited. The objective of this work is to integrate the recent developments in 3-D modeling and visualization into GIS to enhance its 3-D capabilities. To achieve a photorealistic view, building models are collected from a pair of aerial stereo images. Roof and wall textures are respectively obtained from ortho-rectified aerial image and ground photography. This study is implemented by using ArcGIS as the work platform and ArcObjects and Visual Basic as development tools. Presented in this paper are 3-D geometric modeling and its data structure, texture creation and its association with the geometric model. As the results, photorealistic views of Purdue University campus are created and rendered with ArcScene.

  • To create 3D sound, we usually use two methods which are two channels or multichannel sound systems. Because of cost and space problems, we prefer two channel sound system to multi-channel. Using a headphone or two speakers, the most typical method to create 3D sound effects is a technology of head related transfer function (HRTF) which contains the information that sound arrives from a sound source to the ears of the listener. But it causes a problem to localize a sound source around a certain places which is called cone-of-confusion. In this paper, we proposed the new algorithm to reduce the confusion of sound image localization. HRTF grouping and psychoacoustics theory are used to boost the spectral cue with spectrum difference among each directions. Informal listening tests show that the proposed method improves the front-back sound localization characteristics much better than conventional methods.

  • Purpose : During brain MRI scanning, subject's head motion can adversely affect MRI images. To minimize MR image distortion by head movement, we developed an optical tracking system to detect the 3-D movement of subjects. Materials and Methods: The system consisted of 2 CCD cameras, two infrared illuminators, reflective sphere-type markers, and frame grabber with desktop PC. Using calibration which is the procedure to calculate intrinsic/extrinsic parameters of each camera and triangulation, the system was desiged to detect 3-D coordinates of subject's head movement. We evaluated the accuracy of 3-D position of reflective markers on both test board and the real MRI scans. Results: The stereo system computed the 3-D position of markers accurately for the test board and for the subject with glasses with attached optical reflective marker, required to make regular head motion during MRI scanning. This head motion tracking didn't affect the resulting MR images even in the environment varying magnetic gradient and several RF pulses. Conclusion: This system has an advantage to detect subject's head motion in real-time. Using the developed system, MRI operator is able to determine whether he/she should stop or intervene in MRI acquisition to prevent more image distortions.

  • The KOMPSAT-3 can acquire panchromatic stereo image with 0.7 m spatial resolution, and provides Rational Polynomial Coefficient (RPC). In order to determine ground coordinate using the provides RPC, which include interior-exterior orientation errors, its adjustment is needed by using the Ground Control Point (GCP). Several thousands of national Unified Control Points (UCPs) are established and overall distributed in the country by the Korean National Geographic Information Institute (NGII). UCPs therefore can be easily searched and downloaded by the national-control-point-record-issues system. This paper introduced the point-extraction method and the distance-bearing method to detect of UCPs. As results, the distance-bearing method was better detected through the experiment. RPC adjustment using this method was compared with that by only one UCP and GCPs using GPS. The proposed method was more accurate than the other method in the horizontal. As demonstrated in this paper, the proposed UCPs detection method could be replaced GPS surveying for RPC adjustment.
