  • In the Li ion battery fabrication process, an aging step has treated as a miner step because there is not so much data to define the relationship between the phenomena generated in aging process and the battery performances. However, the OCV(open circuit voltage) change in the aging process is shown by the electrochemical absorption of the electrolyte component to the both electrodes(anode or cathode) and the absorbed layer to the electrode affects to form the solid electrolyte interface(SEI) layer during the first charge process. In this report, the adsorbed materials are designed deliberately and are cleared to affect to the SEI layer formation.

  • In performing upper blepharoplasty in the elderly, looking younger and keeping the eyelids harmonious with the rest of the face have to be achieved at the same time. The most important goal in upper blepharoplasty for aging is correcting the drooping upper eyelid skin, and in this process, the surgeon may or may not create a double eyelid fold. The pros and cons have to be fully discussed with the patient, but the author personally prefers creating a double fold unless the patient refuses, because it is efficient in correcting and preventing further drooping of the skin. In most patients, the brow is elevated to compensate for the drooping eyelid, and when the drooping is corrected, brow ptosis may ensue. The surgeon has to prepare for these consequences before performing the procedure, and estimate the exact amount of skin to be excised. In the elderly, the skin and the orbicularis oculi muscle is thin, with a decreased amount of subcutaneous fat and retro-orbicularis oculi fat, and in most cases, excision of the skin alone is enough to correct the deformity. Removing large portions of soft tissue may also prolong the recovery period. Unlike younger patients, the lower skin flap should not be stretched too much in the elderly, as it may create an aggressive looking appearance. A few wrinkles in the lower flap should remain untouched to create a natural look. In this article, the author's own methods of performing an aging blepharoplasty are described specifically, with a step-by-step guide and surgical tips.

  • Aging characteristics and mechanical properties of commercial 7xxx series Al composites were investigated from viewpoint of ceramic contents. After sintering process, sintered densities of blended and composite powder were 95 and 97%, respectively. Each part was solution-treated at $475^{\circ}C$ for 60 min and aged $175^{\circ}C$. And two-step aging was also performed form $120^{\circ}C$ to $175^{\circ}C$. The aging behavior of the sintered composite pow-der was different from that of sintered blended powder. The peak aging time of the composite was rapid as well due to strain. Before aging, mechanical properties of sintered composite powder was significantly higher than that of sintered blended powder. These increments of properties were directly affected by ceramic particles. However, after aging, incremental rate of mechanical properties was slowed in the composite.

  • This paper presents a changes of luminescence property for converted white LEDs with the commercially available silicate phosphor. If silicate phosphor's quantity increase step by step. luminescence property will be changing. we analyze luminescence property for these change and carry out the high temperature aging test for 7,000 hours, the high temperature and humidity aging test for 7,000 hours for reliability. LED degradation not only results in reduced light output but also in color changes. so we monitor correlated color temperature (CCT), chromaticity coordinates(x, y) and spectrum intensity. Those results suggest that humidity factor more bad effect in color changes than temperature factor and Lighting quality is related with quantity of phosphor.

  • Nowdays, the high strength aluminum alloys are broadly used for structural purpose, but the practical strengthening method by aging treatment are not much available. So that, in this study, in order to investigate the effect of aging treatment for strengthening on the fracture characteristics of the domestic high strength Al alloy (A2024BE), the variations of the aging temperature and time were taken after solution treatment. By microstructural examination, and by SEM fractographs of the fractures, the effects of aging temperature and time were investigated, considering on the fracture behaviour. The results obtained are as follows: 1) It was confirmed by microstructural investigation that the aging temperature of $190^{\circ}C$ and the aging time of 12hours were optimal to get more sound microstructure with distribution of uniform precipitation. 2) By step aging treatment, the proper aging time for obtaining the similar microstructure without any microstructural defects could be shortened in half the normal aging time. 3)By examining the SEM fractographs of the fracture surface, it was found that, regardless of the aging treatment time and temperature, all were intergranular ductile fractures, but the aging treatment at $190^{\circ}C$ for 12 hours resulted in dimple-type-transgranular and intergranular-ductile-frature.

  • This study investigated the effects of aging on the transformation behavior of $Ti-50.1at\%$ Ni alloy by means of differential scanning calorimetry. It was found that aging in the temperature range of $350^{\circ}C\~550^{\circ}C$ induced complex transformation behavior, involving the R-phase and multiple-stage martensitic transformation. Usually aged Ni-rich NiTi alloys undergo martensitic transformation on cooling from high temperatures in two step : B2 to R and then R to Bl9'(normal behavior). But under certain ageing conditions, the transformation can also occur in three or more step(unusual multiple step behavior). In the present study we use differential seaming calorimetry(DSC) for a systematic investigation of the evolution of transformation behavior with ageing temperature and time.

  • The present study examined the effects of carbon monoxide (CO) intoxication and aging on learning and memory deficit in young($5{\sim}8$ weeks) and aged($52{\sim}66$ weeks) mice, using the step down and step through passive avoidance failure techniques. We also investigated the effects of ginseng saponins on memory deficit. Significant decrease in memory registration, retention and retrieval function in young mice and decrease in memory registration and retention function in aged mice were observed. Normal young mice were apt to perform to a great degree of passive avoidance response than normal aged mice, but there was no difference between both groups by CO exposure. Administration of ginseng saponins showed an improvement on passive avoidance failure induced by CO exposure.

  • Due to increasing awareness about the risk which will be caused by fast aging of population, the importance of aging friendly environment including housing has been paid much attention both individually and socially. In this regard, recently, in Korea, diverse elderly living facilities have increased in its number. Because of little experience, however, there have not been enough holistic understanding about aging friendly housing. Accordingly, most previous literature which introduced elderly housing to Korean society have translated differently, thereby caused more confusion. To facilitate communication about aging friendly housing, clear and consistent definition of its type and comprehensive range needs to be delineated. The purpose of this study is to classify various elderly housing alternatives in architecturally understandable way. This study was proceeded by content analysis of existing literature on elderly housing environment. A comprehensive review on the concept and existing classification of elderly housing was done prior to main analysis of translated Korean words. After classifying the Korean words of definition, systematic classification which focused on two important criteria of determining physical characteristics, such as space sharing degree and intentional plannedness was delineated and suggested. This research shows the first step toward the theoretical foundation for elderly housing classification.

  • Senescent cells that gradually accumulate during aging are one of the leading causes of aging. While senolytics can improve aging in humans as well as mice by specifically eliminating senescent cells, the effect of the senolytics varies in different cell types, suggesting variations in senescence. Various factors can induce cellular senescence, and the rate of accumulation of senescent cells differ depending on the organ. In addition, since the heterogeneity is due to the spatiotemporal context of senescent cells, in vivo studies are needed to increase the understanding of senescent cells. Since current methods are often unable to distinguish senescent cells from other cells, efforts are being made to find markers commonly expressed in senescent cells using bulk RNA-sequencing. Moreover, single-cell RNA (scRNA) sequencing, which analyzes the transcripts of each cell, has been utilized to understand the in vivo characteristics of the rare senescent cells. Recently, transcriptomic cell atlases for each organ using this technology have been published in various species. Novel senescent cells that do not express previously established marker genes have been discovered in some organs. However, there is still insufficient information on senescent cells due to the limited throughput of the scRNA sequencing technology. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the throughput of the scRNA sequencing technology or develop a way to enrich the rare senescent cells. The in vivo senescent cell atlas that is established using rapidly developing single-cell technologies will contribute to the precise rejuvenation by specifically removing senescent cells in each tissue and individual.
