The alternate adaptation algorithm (AAA) is proposed to improve the convergence characteristics and steady-state performance of the constant modulus algorithm (CMA). The alternate adaptation algorithm is a new equalization method which adapts an equalizer alternately by the algorithm with excellent blind convergence characteristics or the algorithm with better steady-state error performance. In this paper, it is introduced that the alternate adaptation equalization of the vsCMA (variable step-size CMA) and the decision-directed (DD) algorithm. We, first, designed the vsCMA with variable step-size to improve the steady-state error performance of the CMA, and combined it with the DD by alternate adaptation. As a result, it was mitigated that the sensitivity of performance fluctuation due to switching timing in CMA-DD switching method, and it was improved that the convergence speed and steady-state error performance of the CMA. Through computer simulations, under multipath channel condition, the usefulness of the proposed method was confirmed for 16-QAM.

This paper evaluates the equalization performance of FC-MMA adaptive equalization algorithm by the fixed step size that is used for the minimization of the intersymbol interference which occurs in the time dispersive communication channel. The FC-MMA has a fast convergence speed in order to adapts the new environment more rapidly in case of the time varying charateristics and the abnormal situation like as outage of the communication channel. But the algorithms operates in adative method, convegence speed is depend on fixed step size for adaptation. For this situation, its performance was evaluated by changing the step size value, the residual isi and maximum distortion and MSE performance index which means the convergence characteristics are widely adapted in the adaptive equalizer, SER were applied. As a result of computer simulation, the large step size can improves the convergence speed for reaching the steady state, but has a poor performance compared to small step size in residual values after steady state. The research result shows that the FC-MMA algorithm is applied the large step size for rapidly reaching the steady state in initial time, then adjust the small step size after reaching the steady state for reducing the residual values for equalization.

In this paper, an adjustable multiple relay selection (MRS) scheme for cooperative communication with amplify-and-forward (AF) relay under frequency selective channels is proposed. In the proposed scheme, the relays are ordered firstly by the steady-state mean square error (MSE), then the relays are sequentially selected out from N relays and the number of cooperating relays is adjusted dynamically according to the steady-state mean square joint error (MSJE). The aim of this work is to dynamically estimate the optimum number No of cooperating relays. Optimum means the minimum number of cooperating relays, No, achieving the minimum level of steady-state MSJE. Numerical results verify the analyses and show that the scheme can adaptively adjust the number of cooperating relays, and outperform conventional relay selection schemes. Hence, the proposed scheme provides better tradeoff between BER performance and spectral efficiency and to save more energy in cooperative wireless networks.

SPLSSM may operate with very high efficiencies and near unity power factor, SPLSSM has been shown to be capable of desirable steady state performance, but is known to have undesirable staring performance because starting asynchronously by means of an induction cage, it operates in steady state performance of a PM motor. This combination provides the steady state performance of a permanent magnet motor without the need for an expensive drive system. However, that combination makes it difficult to analyze the transient behaviors. This paper investigates the behaviors of Single-Phase Line-Start Synchronous Motor using finite element method combined analytic method. It is shown that finite element modeling is capable of giving accurate prediction of performances. Varying the value of capacitance and material of permanent magnet shows the effect on the dynamic characteristics in this paper.

Steady state computations are routinely used by design engineers to evaluate and compare losses in hydraulic components. In the case of the draft tube diffuser, however, experiments have shown that while a significant number of operating conditions can adequately be evaluated using steady state computations, a few operating conditions require unsteady simulations to accurately evaluate losses. This paper presents a study that assesses the predictive capacity of a combination of steady and unsteady RANS numerical computations to predict draft tube losses over the complete range of operation of a Francis turbine. For the prediction of the draft tube performance using k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model, a methodology has been proposed to average global performance indicators of steady flow computations such as the pressure recovery factor over an adequate number of periods to obtain correct results. The methodology will be validated using two distinct flow solvers, CFX and OpenFOAM, and through a systematic comparison with experimental results obtained on the FLINDT model draft tube.
This paper deals with an investigation and evaluation of the performance of a state observer based Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive controlled by PI (Proportional Integral), PID (Proportional Integral and Derivative), SMC (sliding mode control), ANN (Artificial neural network) and FLC (Fuzzy logic) speed controllers. A detailed study of the steady state and dynamic performance of estimated speed and angle is given to demonstrate the capability of the controllers.
Hydrodynamic coefficients strongly affect the dynamic performance of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). A novel kind of underwater vehicle (Heavier-than-water AUV) with higher density than water is presented, which is different from conventional ones. RANS method and overlapping grids are used to simulate the flow field around the vehicle. Lifts, drags and moments of different attack and drift angles in steady state are calculated. The hydrodynamic performances and how the forces change with the attitude are analyzed according to the flow field structure. The steady-state results using overlapping grid method are compared with those of software FLUENT and wind tunnel tests. The calculation results show that the overlapping grid method can well simulate the viscous flow field around the underwater vehicle. Overlapping grid skills have also been used to figure out the planar-motion-mechanism (PMM) problem of Heavier-than-water AUV and forecast its hydrodynamic performance, verifying its effectiveness in dealing with the dynamic problems, which would be quite helpful for design and control of Heavier-than-water AUV and other underwater vehicles.
The steady-state, incompressible and three-dimensional numerical analysis was carried out to evaluate turbulent models on the aerodynamic performance of a small-size axial fan(SSAF). The prediction performance on the static pressure of all turbulent models is going downhill at the high static pressure and low flowrate region, but has improved at the axial flow region. In consequence, all turbulent models predict the static pressure coefficient with an error performance less than about 4% after the region of the flowrate coefficient of about 0.14. Especially, the turbulent model of SST $k-{\omega}$ shows the best prediction performance equivalent to an error performance less than about 2% on the static pressure.

Direct torque control(DTC) is known to produce quick response in ac drives. Some drawbacks of the classical DTC are the relatively large torque ripple in a low speed range and notable current pulsation during steady state. They are reflected speed response and increased acoustical noise. In this paper, The DTC quick response are preserved at transient state, while better qualify steady state performance is produced by Space Vector Modulation(SVM). It is able to reduce the acoustical noise, torque ripple and current pulsation during steady state. The system presented are closed loop stator flux and torque observer for wide speed range that inputs are currents and voltages sensing of motor terminal. Simulation results for the 2.2kw general purposed induction motor are presented and discussed.
The finite element method has been widely used in the analysis of ring rolling. For ring rolling it requires a high computational expense due to the non-steady state material flow characteristics of the process. The high computational expense causes the finite element analysis to be impractical for industrial applications. In the current study, we aim to develop a practical implicit finite element modeling method for ring rolling. This method uses a step-wise steady state assumption and is called the “Stepped method”. The stepped method divides the whole process time of unsteady-state flow model into a finite number of steady-state models. It then solves the process at several specific time steps until convergence is reached. In order to confirm the performance and validity of the newly proposed stepped method, the result from the stepped method were compared to the results from a Lagrangian finite element method and to results from experiments reported in the literature.
