Statistics was not recognized until the early 20th century as an independent science, and statistical education research came to an international milestone in the late 1940s. The purpose of this study is to investigate the historical development of statistics education research, focusing on the activities of the International Statistical Institute (ISI) and the International Association for Statistical Education (IASE). Statistics education in Korea is considered with regard to the history of international research on statistics education in this study. It implies for the direction of statistical education research to domestic mathematics education researchers and statistical researchers related to statistical education research.

In this thesis, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current situation and the inherent problems found in modern statistics education in Korea. We investigate the American probability and statistics curriculum currently used in Wisconsin and discuss the overall state of statistics education in The United States. Through comparison of both the Korean and Wisconsin model, we explore the future direction of statistical education.

The purpose of this study is to see what the essential characteristics are in teaching probability and statistics among various mathematical fields. we also tried to connect the study of probability and statistics education with what is needed for a science be synthetic to have its own identity as a unique research field. Since we searched for the future direction of the pedagogic study in the probability and statistics we first selected papers on probability and statistics published in (Series A), the Journal of Korea Society of Mathematical Education, and establish the following research questions. What kinds of characteristics can be found when papers on probability and statistics published in (Series A) are classified into low categories; contents of probability and statistics education, research method of the mathematics education, methods of teaming and teaching, and finally measurements and evaluation\ulcorner We classified papers into two kinds. One is related to the educational contents, consisting of the methods of learning and teaching, and of the measurement and evaluation. The other is reined to the methods of research, which is not a part of the educational curriculum but is essential for establishing the identity of mathematics education. According to the periods, papers on the curricular contents in 1960s were influenced by the New Mathematics, and papers on the curricular contents in 1980s were influenced by 'back to basic'. In 1990s, papers on methods of learning and teaching, and measurement md evaluation were increasing in number. Besides, (series A) from the Journal of Korea Society of Mathematical Education covers contents, methods of Loaming and teaching, and measurement and evaluation. And when I examined the papers on the contents of textbook of a junior high school related to the probability and statistics education and on methods of learning and teaching, 1 found that those papers occupy 1.84% in . When it comes to the methods of loaming and teaching, most of studies in (series A) are about application of concrete implement like experiment and practical application of computer programs, Through this study, I found that over-all and more active researches on probability and statistics are required and that the studies about methods of loaming and teaching must be made in diverse directions. It is needed that how students recognize probability and statistics, connection, communication and representation in probability and statistics context, too. (series A) does not have papers on methods of study. Mathematics pedagogy is a mixture of various studies - mathematical psychology, mathematical philosophy, the history of mathematics and Mathematics. So If there doesn't exist a proper method of study adequate in the situation for the mathematics education the issue of mathematics pedagogy might be taken its own place by that of other studies'. We must search for the unique method of study fur mathematics education so that mathematics pedagogy has its own identity as a study. The study concerning this aspect is needed.

통계학과에서 데이터베이스 교육은 필요한가\ulcorner 데이터베이스 교육이 필요하다면 그 교육 방안은 무엇인가\ulcorner 본 연구에서는 통계학과에서 데이터베이스 교육의 필요성에 대해 논의하고 구체 적 인 교육 방안을 제안하고자 한다. 본 논문의 목적은 어떻게 통계학이라는 학문과 연관지어 데이터베이스를 교육할 수 있을 것인가에 대해 생각해보고자 하는데 있다.

Recently, Korean national center for education statistics & information exhibits the results of forecast educational statistics from 2007 to 2021 year. The purpose of this paper is to suggest the errors and problems on the results of forecast educational statistics and the distribution of the number of students.

우리나라 초 중 고등학교 수학과 교육은 1997년 교육인적자원부 고시로 제 7차 수학과 교육과정(교육인적자원부 발간)이 개정되어 현재 초 중 고등학교 현장에서 시행되어 오고 있다. 확률 및 통계교육도 이러한 수학과 교육 과정의 한 부분으로서 시행되어진다. 본 논문을 통하여 제 7차 초등학교 수학과 교육과정에 맞추어 출간되어 교육 현장에서 쓰이고 있는 교과서를 대상으로 확률 및 통계영역에 대한 통계적 분석을 행하였다.

본 연구는 우리나라와 뉴질랜드의 고등학교 통계 교육과정을 비교 분석하여 도출된 결과를 바탕으로 향후 우리나라 통계 교육정책의 개선 방향을 모색함에 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 뉴질랜드의 전반적인 통계 교육과정을 분석하였고, 우리나라 고등학교 2015 개정 확률과 통계 교육과정에 상응하는 뉴질랜드 통계 교육과정의 수준 7과 수준 8의 성취목표 및 핵심 아이디어를 중심으로 살펴본 후에 우리나라 확률과 통계 교육과정과 비교 분석하였다. 이러한 비교분석을 통해 향후 우리나라가 지향해야 할 통계 교육과정 및 통계교육에 있어서 세계적인 추세에 부합하는 방향성을 모색하는데 기여하고자 하였다.

In Korea mathematics education of middle school has been taken according to the 6th national mathematics curriculum which was renovated by the Ministry of Education announcement in 1992. The eight middle school mathematics textbooks are composed of under this curriculum The education of probability and statistics has been carried out as a part of statistics education centering around middle school's mathematics textbooks.

통계에 대한 사회적 관심이 점차 높아져 통계학 교육의 중요성이 대두되고 있지만 대학에서의 통계학 교육은 수리적인 면에 치우쳐 있어 학생들의 관심이 저하되는 것이 사실이다. 흥미로운 학습이 가장 효율적이라는 가정하에 통계학습의 흥미 유발과 이해능력 향상을 위해서는 학습자들이 적극적으로 활용할 수 있는 통계교육도구가 필요하다. 본 논문에서 소개하는 통계교육도구 (PETS)는 엑셀 매크로를 사용하여 개발한 것으로, 결과만 보여주는 것이 아니라 중간과정과 설명들을 함께 나타내어 학습자 스스로 효율적인 통계학습을 할 수 있게 만들었다.

Mathematics develops the ability to solve a problem and the spirit of inquiry by logical thinking, and statistics develops the ability to making a decision scientifically or rationally by various data processing techniques. Even though mathematics is a compulsory subject in most of IT-related departments, the reality of Korean education is serious. This research studies on the necessity of mathematics/statistics education for a person studying IT and analyzes the contents of mathematics/statistics among IT-related subjects. And the research makes a plan for specializing IT-related departments by use of specialized education programs using mathematics/statistics and examines a development plan in the short or long term period for connectivity with mathematics/statistics fields. This connectivity between IT-related departments and mathematics/statistics in the 21st century would certainly contribute to creating more practical or technical knowledge.
