The Presence of a line-of-sight(LoS) blockage can degrade the UWB positioning accuracy for two reasons. Firstly, it makes estimation of the time of arrival(ToA) of the direct path signal difficult by complicating the multipath structure of the propagation channel. Secondly, the higher dielectric constant of the LoS blocking material than that of free space introduces excess propagation delay which will bias the range estimation. In this paper, methods based on ray tracing to reduce the ranging error resulting from the second reason are Posed. We take two different approaches; a statistical approach and a map-aided method. In the statistical approach, we establish a conditional distribution of the excess propagation delay caused by LoS blockages using a ray tracing technique. The lo6wer bound of the ranging performance based on this model is estimated. Ine ray tracing method is also used for the map-aided ToA positioning approach. UWB propagation measurement data taken in an office environment is used to examine the performance of this method.
Ten subjects who were going to wear conventional complete dentures were selected for this study. Theree subjects were women and seven were men. The average age was 63.1 years(range : 44 to 76 years). With the Height tracer (extraoral tracing device) in place the subject was instructed to go through the entire range of mandibular movements. The extreme lateral pathway of the incisor point, the so-called Gothic arch, was thereby inscribed by the stylus on the tracing plate. The mandibular movements in this study were peformed voluntarily by the subject(self guided technique) and guided by the dentist(chin-point technique and bimanual technique). The Gothic arch tracings were analysed and the Gothic arch angles and eccentric movement distances were measured. The results were as follows : 1. The apex position of the Gothic arch tracings of mandibular movements in edentulous patients varied both anterioposteriorly and mediolaterally. 2. The Gothic arch tracing had some lateral deviation during protrusion. 3. The average Gothic arch tracing angle was $136.7{\pm}12.0^{\circ}$ by subjects self guided technique, $135.7{\pm}5.9^{\circ}$ by chin-point technique, $136.6{\pm}6.5^{\circ}$ by bimanual technique. But there were no statistical differences in the reliability among the three techniques. 4. The average mandibular eccentric movements were irregular and the mandibular eccentric movement distances varied with a wide range.
As the major sources of interior noise of train at running condition are the wheel/rail contact noise, the traction motor's noise and the driving gear's noise and these noise sources are transmitted through the car body, the noises of HVAC and air duct can be ignored. But the interior noise of train at standstill condition is decided by HVAC's noise and noise from the diffuser through the air duct. the interior noise prediction of train at standstill condition should be performed considering the shape of air duct, the air velocity and noise reduction property inside the air duct. But it is hard to estimate the interior noise level by the numerical method. Therefore train maker predict the interior noise level using The commercial noise prediction program. This paper introduce the noise prediction method of the train at standstill condition using the commercial program appling the ray tracing method and statistical energy analysis.

Purpose: To investigate the value of image post-processing software (FreeSurfer, IBASPM [individual brain atlases using statistical parametric mapping software]) and inversion time (TI) in volumetric analyses of the hippocampus and to identify differences in comparison with manual tracing. Materials and Methods: Brain images from 12 normal adults were acquired using magnetization prepared rapid acquisition gradient echo (MPRAGE) with a slice thickness of 1.3 mm and TI of 800, 900, 1000, and 1100 ms. Hippocampal volumes were measured using FreeSurfer, IBASPM and manual tracing. Statistical differences were examined using correlation analyses accounting for spatial interpretations percent volume overlap and percent volume difference. Results: FreeSurfer revealed a maximum percent volume overlap and maximum percent volume difference at TI = 800 ms ($77.1{\pm}2.9%$) and TI = 1100 ms ($13.1{\pm}2.1%$), respectively. The respective values for IBASPM were TI = 1100 ms ($55.3{\pm}9.1%$) and TI = 800 ms ($43.1{\pm}10.7%$). FreeSurfer presented a higher correlation than IBASPM but it was not statistically significant. Conclusion: FreeSurfer performed better in volumetric determination than IBASPM. Given the subjective nature of manual tracing, automated image acquisition and analysis image is accurate and preferable.
Radiative transfer by nongray gas mixtures with nonuniform concentration and temperature profiles were studied by using the statistical narrow-band model and ray-tracing method with the sufficiently accurate $T_{60}$ quadrature set. Transmittances through the nonhomogeneous gas mixtures were calculated by using the Curtis-Godson approximation. Three different cases with different temperature and concentration profiles were considered to obtain benchmark solutions for nongray gas mixtures with nonuniform concentration and temperature profiles. The solutions obtained from this study were verified and found to be very well matched with the previous solutions for uniform gas mixtures. The results presented in this paper can be used in developing various solution methods for radiative transfer by nongray gas mixtures.

In multi-dimensional systems, various solution schemes for radiative transfer are suggested but the applicabilities and accuracies of these schemes have not yet fully tested due to the lack of reference solutions especially for nongray gases. In this paper we present some precise radiative transfer solutions for a black walled 3-dimensional cylindrical system filled with nongray gases having uniform temperature and concentration. The ray-tracing method with the $T_N$ quadrature set and the SNB model are used to obtain the radiative transfer solutions by the nongray gases. The solutions presented in this paper are proved to be quite accurate and can be regarded as the reference solutions for the radiative transfer by nongray gases.

The Web log has caught much attraction for tracing of customer activity. So many researches have been carried on it. As a result, Web log analysis solutions has been developed and launched lately. It has been in the spotlight to the website administrators and people in practical marketing business. In this paper, we made an analysis on the various behavior patterns of customers in cooperation with SAS/AF and SCL modules, based on development of GUI from SAS package for disposal of statistical data.
Objective: Increasing food safety demands in the animal product market have created a need for a system to trace the food distribution process, from the manufacturer to the retailer, and genetic traceability is an effective method to trace the origin of animal products. In this study, we successfully achieved the farm tracing of 6,018 multi-breed pigs, using single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers strictly selected through least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) feature selection. Methods: We performed farm tracing of domesticated pig (Sus scrofa) from SNP markers and selected the most relevant features for accurate prediction. Considering multi-breed composition of our data, we performed feature selection using LASSO penalization on 4,002 SNPs that are shared between breeds, which also includes 179 SNPs with small between-breed difference. The 100 highest-scored features were extracted from iterative simulations and then evaluated using machine-leaning based classifiers. Results: We selected 1,341 SNPs from over 45,000 SNPs through iterative LASSO feature selection, to minimize between-breed differences. We subsequently selected 100 highest-scored SNPs from iterative scoring, and observed high statistical measures in classification of breeding farms by cross-validation only using these SNPs. Conclusion: The study represents a successful application of LASSO feature selection on multi-breed pig SNP data to trace the farm information, which provides a valuable method and possibility for further researches on genetic traceability.

This paper presents a new shadow testing acceleration scheme for ray tracing called Hybrid Shadow Testing (HST) based on a conditional switching between the conventinal shadow testing method and Crow's shadow volume method, where the shadow polygons as well as the object polygons are registered onto the corresponding cells under the 3-D space subdivision environment. Despite the preprocessing time for the generation and registration of the shadow polygons, the total shadow testing time of the proposed algorithm, HST was approximately 50% of that of the conventional shadow testing method for several examples while the total ray tracing time was typically reduced by 30% from the conventional approach. This due to the selective use of the shadow volume method with a compromise between the maximal utilisation of shadow's spatial coherency and minimising the computational overhead for checking ray intersections with the shadow polygons. A parameter, $N_{th}$ denoting the critical number of shadow polygons between successive reflection points was used as a guideline for switching the shadow testing scheme between the conventional method and shadow volume method. A method for calculating $N_{th}$ from such statistical data as the number of object polygons, average polygon size average peripheral length of the polygons was proposed, resulting in good agreement with the experimental results.
