  • Wavelet transform has been widely used in terms that it may overcome the shortcoming of conventional Fourier transform. Fourier transform has its difficulty to explain how the transformed domain, frequency, is related with time. Traditional semblance technique in Fourier transform was devised to compare two time series on the basis of their phase as a function of frequency. But this method is known not to work well for the non-stationary signal. In this study, we present two applications of the wavelet-based semblance method to geophysical data. Firstly, we show filtered geomagnetic signal remained with components of high correlation to each observatory. Secondly, highly correlated residual signal of gravity and magnetic survey data, which are also filtered by this semblance method, is present.

  • Ubiquitous mobile computing is becoming easier and more attractive in this ambient technological Internet world. However, some portable devices such as Personal Digital Assistant (PDAs) and smart phones are still encountering inherent constraints of limited storages and computing resources. To alleviate this problem, we develop a cost-effective protocol, iATA to transfer ATA commands and data over TCP/IP network between mobile appliances and stationary servers. It provides mobile users a virtual storage platform which is physically resided at remote home or office. As communications are made through insecure Internet connections, security risks of adopting this service become a concern. There are many reported cases in the history where attackers masquerade as legitimate users, illegally access to network-based applications or systems by breaking through the poor authentication gates. In this paper, we propose a mutual authentication and secure session termination scheme as the first and last defense steps to combat identity thief and fraud threat in particular for iATA services. Random validation factors, large prime numbers, current timestamps, one-way hash functions and one-time session key are deployed accordingly in the scheme. Moreover, we employ the concept of hard factorization problem (HFP) in the termination phase to against fraud termination requests. Theoretical security analysis discussed in later section indicates the scheme supports mutual authentication and is robust against several attacks such as verifiers' impersonation, replay attack, denial-of-services (DoS) attack and so on.

  • Among the various bacterial isolates from municipal sewages which utilized linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS) as a sole source of carbon. 3 potent strains - KL-3, SH-2 and EN-1 - were selected. The strains were classified: KL-3 as a strain belong to the genus Klebsiella; SH-2 Shigella; and EN-1 Enterobacter, respectively. They were grown in a broth containing 200 ppm of LAS, using a laboratory scale fermentor: the bacterial growth reached stationary phase after 2 days with a maximum viability of $10^8cfu/mL$ of the culture; initial rates of LAS degradation were high during the first 24 hours of cultivation (KL-3 and SH-2, approx. 50%; EN-1, 20%); after 1 day a lag period of about 24 hours was observed for all the strains, and thereafter break-down proceeded rapidly; final rates after 7 days were approximately 85% by KL-3, 82% by SH-2 and 75% by EN-1. Adsorption of LAS by the bacterial cell mass was high for the strain SH-2, as Freundlich equation: Y= 0.030X + 0.95 was calculated.

  • The ocean provide great benefits for microalgal mass cultures with maintaining stable temperature due to high specific heat, mixing by wave energy, and providing large area for large-scale microalgae cultures. In this study, we cultivated a marine green microalga, Tetraselmis sp. KCTC12432BP, using marine photobioreactors on the ocean for investigating the effect of $NaHCO_3$ concentration on the biomass productivities and evaluating the potential of ocean microalgae culture. The culture medium consist of three fold concentrated f/2-Si with 4 g/L of $NaHCO_3$, which is dissolved in natural seawater. After 11 days of cultivation, the cultures reached stationary phase at biomass concentration of 1.6 g/L. At that time, $NaHCO_3$ concentration of 0, 2, and 4 g/L were fed to the cultures. The daily productivities of 0.11, 0.19, 0.30 g/L/day were attained with feeding rate of 0, 2, and 4 g/L $NaHCO_3$, respectively. Biomass productivity of Tetraselmis sp. KCTC12432BP was a function of the $NaHCO_3$ feeding rate as expected. This research shows that the microalgae can grow with $NaHCO_3$ as carbon source in marine photobioreactors on the ocean while exploiting various benefits of ocean cultivation.

  • SMB (simulated moving bed) is a continuous chromatographic process by shifting periodically port position. Binary of mixture, Blue dextran and Orange G, was separated by SMB. These components have unique color individually, that is, Blue dextran is blue and Orange G is orange. It is easy to understand SMB process by observing the shift of color changes in SMB. These components was not adsorbed to stationary phase and isolated by difference of size exclusion factor. Mass transfer coefficient was determined by single pulse test under several flow rate conditions. Operation condition was obtained by standing wave theory and optimized for high purities in extract and raffinate streams. Experiment was performed in open loop 4 zone (2-2-2-2) SMB. There are several advantages in open loop SMB, where extract is product for high purity. It is also easy to control flow rate and monitor experimental state during operation. Experimental, extract and raffinate history is well fitted with simulation results, however, column concentration profile is a little different from simulation results. Purities were 99.5% for extract and 98.9% for raffinate and extract and raffinate yields were obtained as 98.9% and 99.4% respectively.

  • In this paper, The author present a load current feed-forward compensator by method that improve voltage controller of Step-down Chopper to get stable output voltage to sudden change of load current. To confirm the characteristics of a presented load current feed-forward compensator compared each transfer function of whole system that load current feed-forward compensator is added with transfer function of whole system that existent voltage controller is included using Mason gains formula in Root locus and Bode diagram. As a result the pole of system is improved, extreme point of the wave and system improves, and size of peak value and phase margin of break frequency in resonance frequency confirmed that is good. Therefore, presented control technique could confirm that reduce influence by perturbation and improves stationary state and dynamic characteristics in output of Step-down Chopper.

  • Cultivation conditions for the production of extracellular alkaline protease by a nonpiamentation Serratia sp. and purification of the enzyme were studied. The maximum enzyme level was obtained at the beginning of stationary phase when the organism was cultured on brain heart infusion medium at $25^{\circ}C$ under aeration (gyratory shaking, 180 cycles/min). The enzyme was purified about 100 fold with 16.5% yield by ammonium sulfate precipitation, ammonium sulfate fractionation followed by DEAE-cellulose chromatography (1st and 2nd). The purified enzyme moved as a single symmetrical peak in the analytical ultracentrifuge. The enzyme demonstrated its maximum activity at pH 8.5-9.0 and 4$0^{\circ}C$ when vitamin-free casein was used as a substrate.

  • Ralstonia solanacearum causes bacterial wilt in a wide variety of host plant species and produces a melanin-like blackish-brown pigment in stationary phase when grown in minimal medium supplemented with tyrosine. To study melanin production regulation in R. solanacearum, five mutants exhibiting overproduction of melanin-like pigments were selected from a transposon (Tn) insertion mutant library of R. solanacearum SL341. Most of the mutants, except one (SL341T), were not complemented by the original gene or overproduced melanins. SL341T showed Tn insertion in a gene containing a conserved domain of eukaryotic transcription factor. The gene was annotated as a hypothetical protein, given its weak similarity to any known proteins. Upon complementation with its original gene, the mutant strains reverted to their wild-type phenotype. SL341T produced 3-folds more melanin at 72 h post-incubation compared with wild-type SL341 when grown in minimal medium supplemented with tyrosine. The chemical analysis of SL341T cultural filtrate revealed the accumulation of a higher amount of homogentisate, a major precursor of pyomelanin, and a lower amount of dihydroxyphenylalanine, an intermediate of eumelanin, compared with SL341. The expression study showed a relatively higher expression of hppD (encoding hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase) and lower expression of hmgA (encoding homogentisate dioxygenase) and nagL (encoding maleylacetoacetate isomerase) in SL341T than in SL341. SL341 showed a significantly higher expression of tyrosinase gene compared with SL341T at 48 h post-incubation. These results indicated that R. solanacearum produced both pyomelanin and eumelanin, and the novel hypothetical protein is involved in the negative regulation of melanin production.

  • This paper presents circuit DQ modeling and analysis of operating characteristics of hybrid cascade multilevel PWM rectifier, especially five-level, without isolation transformers. The circuit DQ transformation changes the original three-phase time varying circuit to stationary equivalent one by employing the synchronously rotating transformation matrix. As a result of circuit DQ modeling, the operating characteristics and some useful design relationships for the system are obtained with ease. That is, the analytic equations for DC voltages and active/reactive power supplied by source with respect to control variables are Presented. Moreover, the DC voltages for the multilevel output generation may be directly built up from AC utility source and the important control equation ensuring 5-level output voltage is obtained. Finally, to confirm the validity of the analysis, MATLAB simulations are carried out and the simulation results show good agreements between analytic predictions and the simulated waveforms.

  • As basic study for purpose bioremedation in oil-contaminated environment, Primarily, we isolated biosurfactant producer- strains utilized of oil-agar plate, and measured surface tension and emulsifying activity. We investigated in oil-contaminated soil and sea water. In this laboratory, Pseudomonas sp. EL-012S strain isolated from oil-contaminated soil was able to product novel biosurfactant under the optimal culture condition. Its condition was n-hexadecane 2.0%, NH$_4$NO$_3$0.4%, Na$_2$HPO$_4$0.6%, KH$_2$PO$_4$0.4%, MgSO$_4$.7$H_2O$ 0.02%, CaCl$_2$.2$H_2O$ 0.001%, FeSO.7$H_2O$ 0.001%, initial pH 7.0 and aeration at 3$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. This biosurfactant was produced in both late-exponential and early-stationary phase. The biosurfactant from Pseudomonas sp. EL-012S was composed of carbohydrate, lipid and protein. The purified-biosurfactant was examined two (biosurfactant type I, II) with the silica gel G60 column chromatography and the purified biosurfactant confirmed thin layer chromatography, high performed liquid chromatography and gas chromatography. The biosurfactant type I involved in carbohydrate-lipid-protein characteristics lowered surface tension of water to 27dyne/cm and interfacial tension 4.5dyne/cm aginst to n-hexadecane and the biosurfactant type B involved in carbohydrate lipid characteristics lowered surface tension of water to 30dyne/cm and interfacial tension 8dyne/cm against to n-hexadecane. Specially type I had the properties such as strong emulsifying activity, emulsion stability, pH-stability, thermo-stability, high cleaning activity and forming ability.
