The welded specimens were made by butt welding of the 2 wires of 50mm length using the pulsed YAG laser. The laser welded wires were tested for investigating the shape memory effect and the ability of super elasticity. The fatigue properties of the welded wires were investigated using the rotary bending fatigue tester specially designed for wires. Moreover, the effect of defocusing distance during laser welding on the static and fatigue properties was Investigated. The shape memory effect and super elasticity of the laser welded wires were approximately identical with that of base metal at the test temperature below 353K. However, the welded wires were broken within elastic limit at the test temperature above 353k. Under the cyclic bending loading conditions, the welded wires could be useful only below the elastic limit, while the base metal had sufficient fatigue life even the stress induced M-phase region. The fatigue strength of the welded wires was about half of that of the base metal. The deterioration of the static and fatigue properties in the welded wires was proven to be from the large difference of the transformation behavior between the base metal and welded part that is caused by vaporization of Ni-content at the welded part during the welding process. The defocusing distance below 3mm acted more largely on lowering the strength of the welded wires than that of 6mm or 8mm.

In order to evaluate the static stability of hybrid carbody structures of Korean Tilting Train eXpress(TTX) caused by degradation of composites under ground environments, T300/AD6005 graphite/epoxy composite specimens were exposed to accelerated environmental conditions including ultraviolet radiation, temperature and moisture fer 2000 hours. It was found that the stiffness and strength of composites after aging were lower than those of unexposed specimens, and decreased as the aging time increases. The values of the degraded properties were used in the static analysis to check the static stability of hybrid carbody structures caused by environmental degradation of composites. The results shown that the structural stability of hybrid carbody structures was affected by the degradation of composites after exposure to accelerated aging environments.

The fluid static pressure has been generally measured by means of a small hole leading to a measuring instrument. In case of viscoelastic fluids, however, it has been shown experimentally that a systematic error exists in measuring the static pressure by means of the small hole becuase viscoelasitc fluids have many properties that can not be observed in Newtonian fluids. In this paper, in order to examine the mechanism of the errors in measuring the static pressure of viscoelasitc fluids, flow patterns in the vicinity of static pressure measuring hole were photographically taken and observed graphically. The experiments to take photographs of flow patterns were performed by a parallel plate channel with the steady two-dimensional shear flow of viscoelastic fluids. Results of the experiment are classified as following three regions; (1) Arched symmetrical flow pattern region. (2) Asymmetrical flow pattern region. (3) Rectilinear symmetricl flow pattern region.
In this article we make a local classification of n-dimensional Riemannian manifolds (M, g) with harmonic curvature and less than four Ricci eigenvalues which admit a smooth non constant solution f to the following equation $$(1)\hspace{20}{\nabla}df=f(r-{\frac{R}{n-1}}g)+x{\cdot} r+y(R)g,$$ where ∇ is the Levi-Civita connection of g, r is the Ricci tensor of g, x is a constant and y(R) a function of the scalar curvature R. Indeed, we showed that, in a neighborhood V of each point in some open dense subset of M, either (i) or (ii) below holds; (i) (V, g, f + x) is a static space and isometric to a domain in the Riemannian product of an Einstein manifold N and a static space (W, gW, f + x), where gW is a warped product metric of an interval and an Einstein manifold. (ii) (V, g) is isometric to a domain in the warped product of an interval and an Einstein manifold. For the proof we use eigenvalue analysis based on the Codazzi tensor properties of the Ricci tensor.

This study tries to analyzes the static friction torque that generated in a micro-electromagnetic clutch by using FEM. For the purpose of design change and optimization of the micro-electromagnetic clutch, the static friction torque prediction is very important. We construct the axi symmetric FEM model for analyze the static friction torque and the real material properties are substituted to the FEM model. For a test, predicted static friction torque is compared with experimental one to discuss the rationality of torque analysis process. The analytical result agrees well to experimental data. explaining the validity of the mathematical process and FEM model.
According to the properties of monoclinic materials, the normal and shear stresses are depending on both normal and shear strains. In the current investigation, the static analysis of monoclinic plates based on three dimensional elasticity theory is investigated. New governing equations and boundary conditions are derived for monoclinic plates and the Differential Quadrature Method (DQM) is used to solve the static problem. In our method of solution, no approximation is used and the DQM is adopted in all directions. By showing the differences between our results and the results for especially orthotropic plates, one can find that it is worth to investigate the monoclinic plates to have more accurate results.
This study investigates the influence of nano-silica and basalt fiber content, curing duration, and freeze-thaw cycles on the static and dynamic properties of soil specimens. A comprehensive series of tests, including Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS), static triaxial, and dynamic triaxial tests, were conducted. Additionally, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis was employed to examine the microstructure of treated specimens. Results indicate that a combination of 1% fiber and 10% nano-silica yields optimal soil enhancement. The failure patterns of specimens varied significantly depending on the type of additive. Static triaxial tests revealed a notable reduction in the brittleness index (IB) with the inclusion of basalt fibers. Specimens containing 10% nano-silica and 1% fiber exhibited superior shear strength parameters and UCS. The highest cohesion and friction angle were obtained for treated specimens with 10% nano-silica and 1% fiber, 90 kPa and 37.8°, respectively. Furthermore, an increase in curing time led to a significant increase in UCS values for specimens containing nano-silica. Additionally, the addition of fiber resulted in a decrease in IB, while the addition of nano-silica led to an increase in IB. Increasing nano-silica content in stabilized specimens enhanced shear modulus while decreasing the damping ratio. Freeze-thaw cycles were found to decrease the cohesion of treated specimens based on the results of static triaxial tests. Specimens treated with 10% nano-silica and 1% fiber experienced a reduction in shear modulus and an increase in the damping ratio under freeze-thaw conditions. SEM analysis reveals dense microstructure in nano-silica stabilized specimens, enhanced adhesion of soil particles and fibers, and increased roughness on fiber surfaces.
We have observed the orientation behavior of acicular iron oxides in magnetic layer of the particular magnetic tape after magnetic paint was coated on polyester film. As results of the static orientation, orientation of iron oxides come to the maximum at the front and the back of orientation magnets, but it was a litter lower at the back than at the front, and it slowly decreases and come to the constant level after passing through the orientation magnets. In case of edge portion to be futher away from center in the coated film, the orientation of iron oxides in magnetic layer come to worse than that of the center. We think it is owing to the shape and the magnetic magnitude of orientation magnets. The results of the dynamic orientation are as follows. As the orientation of iron oxides in the particulated magnetic tape is higher, the output properties of tape come to better than ever. And the orientation of iron oxides can be changed by drying condition, as result, the output properties of tape can be also. Therefore we think the considrations of the design of orientation magnets and the control of drying condition are needed to improve output properties of the particulated magnetic tape.

Main objective of the present study is to determine the statistical properties and suitable probability distribution functions of spectral displacements from nonlinear static and nonlinear dynamic analysis within the frame work of Monte Carlo simulation for typical low rise and high rise RC framed buildings located in zone III and zone V and designed as per Indian seismic codes. Probabilistic analysis of spectral displacement is useful for strength assessment and loss estimation. To the author's knowledge, no study is reported in literature on comparison of spectral displacement including the uncertainties in capacity and demand in Indian context. In the present study, uncertainties in capacity of the building is modeled by choosing cross sectional dimensions of beams and columns, density and compressive strength of concrete, yield strength and elastic modulus of steel and, live load as random variables. Uncertainty in demand is modeled by choosing peak ground acceleration (PGA) as a random variable. Nonlinear static analysis (NSA) and nonlinear dynamic analysis (NDA) are carried out for typical low rise and high rise reinforced concrete framed buildings using IDARC 2D computer program with the random sample input parameters. Statistical properties are obtained for spectral displacements corresponding to performance point from NSA and maximum absolute roof displacement from NDA and suitable probability distribution functions viz., normal, Weibull, lognormal are examined for goodness-of-fit. From the hypothesis test for goodness-of-fit, lognormal function is found to be suitable to represent the statistical variation of spectral displacement obtained from NSA and NDA.
This paper presents a detailed study focused on investigating the effects of silt content on the static and dynamic properties of sand-silt mixtures. Specimens with a low-plastic silt content of 0, 15, 30 and 50% by weight were tested in static triaxial, cyclic triaxial, and resonant columns in addition to consolidation tests to determine such parameters as compression index, internal friction angle, cohesion, cyclic stress ratio, maximum shear modulus, normalized shear modulus and damping ratio. The test procedures were performed on specimens of three cases: constant void ratio index, e = 0.582; same peak deviator stress of 290 kPa; and constant relative density, $D_r$ = 30%. The test results obtained for both the constant-void-ratio-index and constant-relative-density specimens showed that as silt content increased, the internal friction angle, cyclic stress ratio and maximum shear modulus decreased, but cohesion increased. In testing of the same deviator stress specimens, both cohesion and internal friction angle were insignificantly altered with the increase in silt content. In addition, as silt content increased, the maximum shear modulus increased. The cyclic stress ratio first decreased as silt content increased to reach the threshold silt content and increased thereafter with further increases in silt content. Furthermore, the damping ratio was investigated based on different silt contents in three types of specimens.
