  • This paper deals with a comparison between the secondary Halbach array and conventional array of permanent magnets(PMs) in linear synchronous motor(LSM). The finite element method(FEM) is employed for characteristic analysis of the machine. Two types of PMLSM are analyzed and compared, with reference to the following parameters as variables: magnetic field, detent force, static thrust and thrust/secondary weight ratio.

  • This paper deals with characteristic analysis of Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor(PMLSM) and Linear Reluctance Motor(LRM). PMLSM and LRM can be classified into the short primary type and the short secondary type according to their structural features. In this paper, select the short secondary. Thrust and lateral force are evaluated by using Finite Element Method(FEM) and experiments. These characteristics of PMLSM and LRM are compared with each other.

  • In this paper, We have simulated and measured the characteristics of the static thrust of 2-phase PM type Linear Stepping Motor(LSM). And, the 2-phase PM type Linear Stepping Motor is simulated using 2-Dimensional finite element method. For calculating force, Maxwell stress tensor method is applied.

  • Linear pulse rootor (LPM) be suitable a field where smooth linear rootion of high precision is required, because it's structured with minute teeth pitch in airgap of between and stator and roover(forcer). Force and position of LPM are effected sensitively by the teeth pitch, air gap, permanent magnet and excitation current. So, LPM is much important to analyze the force characteristics. llis paper was awlied to perrreance roothed for force calculation at airgap. The airgap of LPM is maintained from the pressure generated by an air-bearing. Simplified airflow and permeance methods will be used to calculate the air gap under static conditions. Therefore, the maximum available force is then derived using the coenergy method with variable air gap, also normal force and linear thrust was acquired from variable minute displacement 1[mm]. 1[mm].

  • In the industrial field the necessity of the linear motion is increasing. We selected a moving magnet coreless type LDM, which have the advantages, such as long stoke, brushless, no cogging force. Actually, the design is accomplished using FEM analysis for the basic configuration of a magnetic circuit, and characteristic equations for coil design. In the course of design, we have estimated airgap flux density and thrust. We fabricated coreless type LDM and experimented static test. We compared measurement values with FEM analysis values.

  • LPM is a characterized motor to reciprocate linear motion for the office automation(OA), the factory automation(FA) and the field of information instruments because it can generate direct drive without any mechanical converter. For the design and analysis of permanent magnet type linear, pulse motor, it is therefore necessary to investigate the characteristics of magnetic flux distribution, static and dynamic thrust force, normal force, etc, by analyzing its magnetic circuit. This paper describes various useful methods for improving the characteristics of LPM. And these method is adopted on the PM and flat type, double side 2-phase 8-pole LPM.

  • Prototype DSLPM (Double Side Linear Pulse Motor) has a complicated magnetic circuit to be composed of permanent magnetics and winding. During the fabricating of DSLPM, we found that upper airgap length may be a little different from lower airgap length because of fabrication tolerance and error. So, a little difference of both airgap length have a various effect on the characteristics of DSLPM. Therefore, in this paper, we analyzed the normal force and maximum static thrust force according to the difference of both airgap length on DSLPM with finite element method. Obtained results can be used for design of DSLPM with higher performance.

  • Recently, in the industrial applications, the direct drive method with linear pulse motor(LPM) has been introduced and studied for practical use. This paper describes the analysis result of hybrid(HB), permanent magnet(PM), and variable reluctance(VR) type LPM. First, calculation of the flux density distribution in the air gap at these LPM by finite element method. And by mean of Maxwell's stress tensor with above magnetic flux density, calcurated the static thrust force and normal force.

  • Rotor system is a very important part which produce lift, thrust and control force in helicopter. Component of rotor system must have structural integrity for applied load. The estimation of structural integrity is regarded greatly as important in aerospace field. In this study, the process of structural analysis performed for bearingless main rotor system of helicopter. The composite flexbeam and torque tube of bearingless main rotor are very thick, so 3D layered soild elements of MSC.PATRAN were used to get the finite element analysis results. To estimate structural integrity, non-linear static analysis considering geometric non-linearity is performed. In addition, detailed finete element analysis and non-linear static analysis are performed to consider the stress concentration for fitting effect and contact surface. The estimation process of structural integrity for bearingless main rotor system of helicopter may help the design.

  • This paper deals with the characteristic analysis of electro-magnet (EM)-permanent magnet (PM) hybrid levitation and propulsion device for magnetically levitated (maglev) vehicles. Several machine characteristics such as levitation force with/without control current and thrust are described. In order to verify the analysis results and feasibility of high-speed operation of the maglev vehicle, real-scale static test set is implemented and tested.
