A method has been developed to tune the static stiffness at a rotation joint considering the whole machine tool system by interactive use of finite element method and experiment. This paper describes the procedure of this method and shows the results. The method uses the static experiment on measurement model which is set-up so that the effects of uncertain factors can be excluded. For FEM simulation, the rotation joint model is simplified using only spindle, bearing and spring. At the rotation joint, the damping coefficient is ignored, The spindle and bearing is connected by only spring. By static experiment, 500 N is forced to the front and behind portion of spindle and the deformation is measured by capacitive sensor. The deformation by FEM simulation is extracted with changing the static stiffness from the initial static stiffness considering only rotation joint. The tuning static stiffness is obtained by exploring the static stiffness directly trusting the deformation from the static experiment. Finally, the general tuning method of the static stiffness of machine tool joint is proposed using the force stream and the modal analysis of machine tool.
The purpose of this paper is to obtain the basic data for design of pressure cooling system. Static pressure drop, as a function of superficial velocity, was measured for different stacking methods and stacking heights of some fruits and vegetables. At given superficial velocity, sphericity and void fraction had a much greater influence on static pressure drop than average diameter of spherical fruits such as apple, peach, tomato and kiwi fruit. Among cylindrical vegetables such as cucumber, carrot, radish and chinese cabbage, cucumber showed different pattern of static pressure drop because of its bended shape, radish showed less static pressure drop than other vegetables because its large sizes of voids. When cucumber and spinach were stacked vertically and horizontally to air flow, a much greater static pressure drop was shown in vertical than in horizontal type, therefore static pressure drop was affected not only by void fraction but also by void shape. Also, in packed-beds of fruits and vegetables, static pressure drop could be estimated very well by Ramsins equation.
All the loads in the real world act dynamically on structures. Since dynamic loads are extremely difficult to handle in analysis and design, static loads are utilized with dynamic factors. The dyna mic factors are generally determined based on experiences. Therefore, the static loads can cause problems in precise analysis and design. An analytical method based on modal analysis has been proposed for the transformation of dynamic loads into equivalent static load sets. Equivalent static load sets are calculated to generate an identical displacement field in a structure with that from dynamic loads at a certain time. The process is derived and evaluated mathematically. The method is verified through numerical tests. Various characteristics are identified to match the dynamic and the static behaviors. For example, the opposite direction of a dynamic load should be considered due to the vibration response. A dynamic bad is transformed to multiple equivalent static loads according to the number of the critical times. The places of the equivalent static load can be different from those of the dynamic load. An optimization method is defined to use the equivalent static loads. The developed optimization process has the same effect as the dynamic optimization which uses the dynamic loads directly. Standard examples are solved and the results are discussed
PURPOSE: This study examined the correlations between gait, static balance, and pelvic inclination in patients with chronic stroke. METHODS: Twenty-two chronic stroke patients were included in this study. The subjects participated in gait, static balance, and pelvic inclination tests. In the gait measurement, the cadence and gait velocity were measured, and the average of three trials was calculated and recorded. The static balance was measured using a force platform. The data was captured for ten seconds, and five successful trials were recorded. Pelvic inclination in the sagittal plane was measured using a palpation meter. For data processing, a KolmogorovSmirnov test was used to determine the type of distribution for all variables. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used for correlation analysis. The correlations among the gait, static balance, and pelvic inclination was calculated. The level of significance was .05. RESULTS: Significant negative correlations were observed between the gait variables (cadence, velocity) and static balance variables (COP path length, COP average velocity, and 95% confidence ellipse area) (p < .05). On the other hand, there was no significant correlation between pelvic inclination and gait or between the pelvic inclination and static balance variables. CONCLUSION: Significant correlations were observed between the gait function and static balance. On the other hand, there were no significant correlations between the pelvic inclination and gait and static balance. These results suggest that the pelvic inclination is not an important consideration for increasing the gait function and static balance.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to examine immediate effects of 15 minutes plantarflexor static stretching in quite stance. Methods : Twenty-nine subjects were measured static balance during 1 minute in quite stance with eye closed condition before and after 15 minutes plantarflexor static stretching. Static stretching range was limited from $15^{\circ}$ to $20^{\circ}$ dorsiflexion within comfortable range. Results : The result of this study showed that postural sway significantly increased during 1 minute quiet stance after 15 minutes static stretching(p<.05). Before stretching, postural sway significantly decreased during 41-60 seconds compared to 0-20, 21-40 seconds(p<.05). After stretching, postural sway was decreased significantly over time 0-20, 21-40, and 41-60 seconds(p<.05). Conclusion : The prolong plantarflexor static stretching may require biomechanical, neurological adaptations prior to walking or sport activities for safety.
Static electricity is an everyday phenomenon. There can be few of us who have not experienced a static shock after sliding across a car seat. Other static nuisance effects include the cling of some fabrics to the body, the sticking of a plastic document cover, or the attraction of dust to a TV or computer screen. However, static electricity has been a serious industrial problem. The age of electronics brought with it new problems associated with static electricity and electrostatic discharge. And, as electronic devices became faster and smaller, their sensitivity to ESD increased. In this work, We are study on the control technique of electo-static discharges using semiconductor circuits. Our circuits are prevented well to electrostatic shock or damages from triboelectric charging in cars everyday life.
In this study, electrostatic behavior of polyester and nylon fabric treated with anti-static agents were investigated. The effects of the concentration of the agents and curing conditions on the electrostatic charge of the fabrics were studied. And washfastness, lightfastness and physicalproperties of the treated fabrics were also investigated. The results were as follows: 1) Polyethylene glycol alkylester was more effective in antistatic behavior than polyethylene laurylphosphate, and polyester is more effective in anti-static behavior than nylon. 2) Concentration of anti-static agents were suitable in concentration of $4\%$. 3) Glyoxal resin was more effective in anti-static behavior than melamine resin, and it was also good in the retaing anti-static behavior after treatments of lightfastness and washfastness. 4) As the condition of curing treatment, $190^{\circ}C$, 1min. for glyoxal resin and $130^{\circ}C$, 4min. for melamine resin is appropriate. 5) In comparison of anti-static behavior according to treating conditions, the simultaneous treatment was more effective than any other treatments. 6) Change of electrostatic charge of anti-static nylon cloths after treatments of lightfastness and washfastness increased greatly in above 10 laundering time and 20 fade-O-meter time. 7) In physical properties according to concentration of treating agents. decrease of physical properties scarcely appeared in concentration of treating agents $4\~5\%$.
Purpose: This study was performed to determine the difference or temporal-spatial gait asymmetry ratio according to static pelvic inclination level in hemiplegic patients. Methods: The subjects were 25 hemiplegic patients who was experienced stroke on MCA territory. Gait parameters and static pelvic inclination were recorded by $GAITRite^{(R)}$ system and radiologic PACS. The subjects were divided into three group according to static pelvic inclination. In the group I, the subjects have static pelvic inclination below $58^{\circ}$. The group II has $58^{\circ}{\sim}62^{\circ}$ or static pelvic inclination and the group m has over $62^{\circ}$ or static pelvic inclination. The data or three groups were analysed with ANOVA. Results: In comparison or single support time asymmetry ratio among 3 groups, the score or group II was significantly higher than the other groups(p<0.05). But the swing time asymmetry ratio was not significant(p>0.05). Conclusion: Asymmetry ratio of single support time was statistically significant by static pelvic inclination level. But asymmetry ratio or group II was the highest among three groups. It means that the patients or normal range of pelvic inclination was showed the most asymmetry or gait. And swing time asymmetry ratio was not significant among three groups. Even if the patient has normal ranged static pelvic inclination, it doesn't suggest that the patient has low gait asymmetry.
Static CAD models are the CAD models that do not have feature information and modeling history. These static models are generated by translating CAD models in a specific CAD system into neutral formats such as STEP and IGES. When a CAD model is translated into a neutral format, its precious feature information such as feature parameters and modeling history is lost. Once the feature information is lost, the advantage of feature based modeling is not valid any longer, and modification for the model is purely dependent on geometric and topological manipulations. However, the capabilities of the existing methods to modify static CAD models are limited, Direct modification methods such as tweaking can only handle the modifications that do not involve topological changes. There was also an approach to modify static CAD model by using volume decomposition. However, this approach was also limited to modifications of protrusion features. To address this problem, we extend the volume decomposition approach to handle not only protrusion features but also depression features in a static CAD model. This method first generates the model that contains the volume of depression feature using the bounding box of a static CAD model. The difference between the model and the bounding box is selectively decomposed into so called the feature volume and the base volume. A modification of depression feature is achieved by manipulating the feature volume of the static CAD model.
