On the Analysis of Dynamic Characteristics of Pipe Supporting Hydraulic Snubber in Electric Power Plant with State-space Model and Impulse Testing (상태공간 모델과 임펄스 시험에 의한 발전소 배관지지용 유압완충기의 동특성 해석)

  • This paper presents the modeling and analysis of dynamic characteristics of hydraulic snubber in electric power plant. The nonlinear state-space model of 14th order to describe the dynamics of the snubber was established by Simulink. The simulation results show that the hydraulic snubber reacts as like the conventional shock absorbers against the high pulse shock load. The snubber also shows the peculiar characteristics to the small step load, which temporarily lock the control valves up, however maintain same steady-state pressures of all internal chambers in the long run. Two case studies for the analysis of the snubber were addressed. Practical pulse testing method was also proposed to identify the frequency response characteristics of the snubber.

  • The hydraulic acoustic attenuator fur an automotive active suspension system is so highly nonlinear and of high order that the analysis in time-domain has been performed quite little. In this paper, a state-space representation of the dynamics for a hydraulic attenuator was presented utilizing the electrical analogy. And the results of experiment were compared with those of simulation to validate the state-space model proposed. The comparison revealed that the state-space model proposed is practically applicable to estimate the dynamic responses of the hydraulic attenuator in time-domain.

  • In this paper we consider the variable structure control for a class of discrete-time uncertain multivariable systems where the nominal system is linear. Discrete-time switching dynamics are introduced so that a new type of state trajectories called sliding mode may exist on the sliding surface by state feedback. The quantitative analysis for the matched uncertainties will show that every response of the system with the proposed switching dynamics is bounded within small neighborhoods of the state-space origin. Also, by the similarity transformation it will be shown that the eigenvalues of the closed-loop systems are composed of those of the subsystems which govern the range-space dynamics and null-space dynamics. It will be also shown that ideal sliding mode can be obtained in the absence of uncertainties due to one-step attraction to the sliding surface regardless of initial position of states.   • The analysis of an aircraft flight dynamics is recently very convenient because of the introduction of state-space method and a well-developed package software. The representation of a dynamic system is described as a simple form of matrix calculation and the unique form of model is available for the linear or nonlinear, time variant or time invariant, mono variable or multi variable system with state-space method. And this analysis can be simplified with the specific functions of a package software and it is very simplified to execute the simulation of the dynamic characteristics for an aircraft model with an interactive graphical treatment. The purpose of this study is to develope an educational flight simulator for the students who need to analyze the dynamic characteristics of an aircraft that is primarily to execute the simulation for the analysis of the transient response and frequency response of an aircraft stability. Furthermore the dynamic characteristics of an aircraft motion is set up as dynamical animation tool for the control response on 3-axis motions of an aircraft.

  • Estimating the accurate internal state of lithium ion batteries to increase their safety and efficiency is crucial. Various algorithms are used to estimate the internal state of a lithium ion battery, such as the extended Kalman filter and sliding mode observer. A state-space model is essential in using algorithms to estimate the internal state of a battery. Two principal methods are used to express the state-space model, namely, continuous time and discrete time. In this work, the extended Kalman filter is employed to estimate the internal state of a battery. Moreover, this work presents and analyzes the estimation performance of algorithms consisting of a continuous time state-space model and a discrete time state-space model through static and dynamic profiles.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for establishing a state-space equation model for the motion analysis of floating structures subjected to wave loads, by applying system-identification techniques. Traditionally, the motion of floating structures has been analyzed in the time domain by integrating the Cummins equation over time, which utilizes a convolution integral term to account for the effects of the retardation function. State-space equation models have been studied as a way to efficiently solve floating-motion equations in the time domain. The proposed approach outlines a procedure to derive the target transfer function for the load-displacement input/output relationship in the frequency domain and subsequently determine the state-space equation that closely approximates it. To obtain the state-space equation, the method employs the N4SID system-identification method and an optimization approach that treats the coefficients of the numerator and denominator polynomials as design variables. To illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we applied it to the analysis of a single-degree-of-freedom model and the motion of a six-degree-of-freedom barge. Our findings demonstrate that the presented state-space equation model aligns well with the existing analysis results in both the frequency and time domains. Notably, the method ensures computational accuracy in the time-domain analysis while significantly reducing the calculation time.

  • In this study, the state-space Newmark method based on average velocity is presented to analyse the transient dynamic response for general dynamic system. The conventional Newmark method based on average acceleration cannot he directly to the first-order state-space differential equations introducing the state-space vector. To overcome this problem, the time-step integration algorithm, based on average velocity concept, suitable for the first-order state-space differential equations is proposed In results, the proposed method has %he numerical stability and order of accuracy, which is proved analytically, equal to those of the conventional Newmark method based on average acceleration. Also, the formulation for numerical solution is very simple and the calculation time Is nearly equal to that of the conventional Newmark method based on average acceleration in spite of an increase of two times over matrix size. This method will be look forward to applying the general dynamic system to calculate the transient dynamic response.

Design and analysis of a free-piston stirling engine for space nuclear power reactor

  • The free-piston Stirling engine (FPSE) has been widely used in aerospace owing to its advantages of high efficiency, high reliability, and self-starting ability. In this paper, a 20-kW FPSE is proposed by analyzing the requirements of space nuclear power reactor. A code was developed based on an improved simple analysis method to evaluate the performance of the proposed FPSE. The code is benchmarked with experimental data, and the maximum relative error of the output power is 17.1%. Numerical results show that the output power is 21 kW, which satisfies the design requirements. The results show that: a) reducing the pressure shell's thickness can improve the output power significantly; b) the system efficiency increases with the wire porosity, while the growth of system efficiency decreases when the porosity is higher than 80%, and system efficiency exhibits a linear relationship with the temperatures of the cold and hot sides; c) the system efficiency increases with the compression ratio; the compression ratio increases by 16.7% while the system efficiency increases by 42%. This study can provide valuable theoretical support for the design and analysis of FPSEs for space nuclear power reactors.

  • This article provides a dynamic analysis model for huge marine engine that examined analytically variation effects of frequency response by fitting of transverse stays such as hydraulic type. First, vibration analysis using the three dimensional finite element models for the huge marine engine has performed in order to find out the dynamic characteristics. Second, three dimensional finite elements model for the huge marine engine was modifued so that generate forcing nodes in crosshead part and top bracing nodes in cylinder frame part. Third, a system matrix and output matrix was derived for the general siso(single input single out) state space model. Finally, developed state space model for the three dimensional finite elements model for the huge marine engine without the additional modifying process.
