  • The Intensive Monitoring Survey of Nearby Galaxies (IMSNG) is a high cadence observation program monitoring nearby galaxies at < 50 Mpc with high probabilities of hosting supernovae (SNe). The current number of main IMSNG targets is 60, but with new wide-field facilities joining IMSNG, there is a possibility of increasing the likelihood of catching the early light curves of SNe among galaxies in the vicinity of the main targets. To test the feasibility of the expansion of the sample galaxies, we examine how much the probability of catching SNe increases by adjusting the field of view of the RASA36 telescope which is one of the IMSNG facilities with a large field of view of 6.25 deg2. We calculate supernova rates (SNRs) of galaxies within the FoV that contains main IMSNG galaxies from the stellar mass and star formation rate of the galaxies. Based on the SNRs of these galaxies, we find the best pointing of the telescope towards the highest SNR region. As a result, we present improved total SNR, with respect to the ordinary pointing on average where the IMSNG main target is placed at the center of FoV. The actual observation should be followed to test the effect of this strategy.

  • The symbiotic nova Z Andromedae (And) was investigated, using the high dispersion spectra of spectral resolution, ${\Delta}{\lambda}{\sim}-0.1{\AA}$. The spectral observations were done with (1) the Hamilton Echelle Spectrograph (HES) and the high resolution spectra (exposures=1800s and 3600s) were obtained at Lick Observatory in 2001 August $30^{th}$ (phase ${\Phi}$=0.77), and 2002 August $12^{th}$ (phase ${\Phi}$=0.22), (2) with the Bohyunsan Echelle Spectrograph (BOES) at Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory and the high resolution spectra (exposure=1200s) were secured in 2009 October $21^{st}$ (phase ${\Phi}$=0.70). From both the HES and BOES spectral data in the $3600{\AA}-9500{\AA}$ wavelengths, we extracted the emission lines of HI, HeI, and HeII, which have been decomposed into double or triple Gaussian components for 3 consecutive phases. The emission zones responsible for these components appear to be closely related with the orbital motion of a white dwarf or a giant star. The presence of the Raman scattering $H{\alpha}$ broad wing feature and the kinematic characteristics of the line profile observed in each phase imply that the Z And emission lines are mostly from two Lagrangian points, $L_1$ and $L_2$, and the accretion disk around the white dwarf star. The Z And was most active in 2009 and 2001 during the outburst phase, while it remained quiescent in 2002 in spite of the complex line profiles.

  • The Boltwood Cloud Sensor is meteorological sensor that is used to estimate an amount of clouds in the sky. This sensor will be installed for OWL(Optical Wide-field patroL) telescope and observatory system of Korea Astronomy and Space Science. Before applying this sensor to an observatory system, we performed test observations at Chungbuk University Observatory at Jincheon, Chungbuk. During the test run, a significant correlation between air temperature difference and the number of visible stars recorded in the CCD frames has not been found. This preliminary result can be attributed to test environment of the observation and our lack of knowledge on calculation algorithm as well as the hardware system of the Boltwood Cloud Sensor. In this paper, we present the procedure and the result of the performance test employing the cloud sensor.

  • Environments (field, galaxy groups, and galaxy clusters) can affect galaxy evolution due to galaxy interaction which is controlled by different galaxy number densities and velocity dispersions. Since the galaxy interaction or merger triggers both star formation and AGN, AGN fraction can be used to understand the effect of environment. We detected X-ray AGN fraction in a nearby galaxy cluster, Abell 133, using Chandra X-ray image and optical spectra. We found ~600 X-ray point sources in the field of Abell 133 using the 2.8 Msec exposure Chandra images. We determined 3 cluster members based on the redshifts derived from optical spectra obtained from Magellan IMACS observation. The AGN fraction in Abell 133 is similar to that of other environments, i.e., COSMOS and CDFS. We will discuss the results by comparing Abell 133 with other environments.

  • I will present a new approach to constrain galaxy physical parameters from the combined interpretation of stellar and nebular emission in wide ranges of observations. This approach relies on a comprehensive library of synthetic spectra, assembled using state-of-the-art models of star formation and chemical enrichment histories, stellar population synthesis, nebular emission and attenuation by dust. We focus on the constraints set by 5-band photometry and low- and medium-resolution spectroscopy at optical rest wavelengths on a few physical parameters characterizing the stars and interstellar medium. Since these parameters cannot be known a priori for any galaxy sample, we assess the accuracy to which they can be retrieved by simulating 'pseudo-observations' using models with known parameters. We find that the combined analysis of stellar and nebular emission in low-resolution (50A FWHM) galaxy spectra provides valuable constraints on all physical parameters. The approach can be extended to the analysis of any type of observation and during this talk i will present some applications to observed galaxies up to redshift 1.5.

  • The local water contents and water transfer characteristics in the PEMFC system were investigated by numerical simulations and experiments. The performance of a lab-scale PEMFC is measured for fully humidified gases conditions and non-humidified ones. In order to observe the local water contents and water transfer characteristics inside PEMFC, the numerical simulation using CFD module on STAR-CD(es-pemfc) were conducted. The results show that the water content was increased as increasing current density, whereas it was decreased in high current density region. Then there was close correlation between high water content and internal temperature inside of MEA, and high current density was observed when internal temperature was dramatically increased.

  • A redback system is a binary system composed of a pulsar and a main sequence star. The inverse Compton (IC) scattering between the stellar soft photons and the relativistic pulsar wind will generate orbital-modulating GeV photons. We look for these IC emissions from redback systems. A multi-wavelength observation of an unassociated gamma-ray source, 3FGL J2039.6-5618, by Salvetti et al. (2015) detected an orbital modulation with a period of 0.2 days in both X-ray and optical cases. They suggested 3FGL J2039.6-5618 to be a new redback candidate. We analyzed the gamma-ray emission of 3FGL J2039.6-5618 using the data from the Fermi large area telescope (Fermi-LAT) and obtained the spectrum in different orbital phases. We propose that the spectrum has orbital dependency and estimate the characteristic energy of the IC emission from the stellar-pulsar wind interaction.

  • We present new BVR CCD photometric light curves for the close binary star V445 Cep. A new photometric solution and absolute physical dimensions of the system were derived by applying the Wilson-Devinney program to our observed light curves and radial velocity curves published by Pych et al. The evolutional status of V445 Cep was found to coincide with those of the general low mass ratio contact binary systems.

  • Planetary nebulae (PN) are the last stages of evolution of intermediate mass (1-8 Msolar) stars. Their shapes are thought to result from interactions between the present-day, fast (emerging white dwarf) and previously ejected, slow (red giant) stellar winds. The observation of young, bright PN, NGC7027 and BD+30 3639, was made on July 7, 2014 using the 2.7m Harlan J. Smith telescope at the McDonald Observatory. IGRINS with high spatial (0.27") and high spectral ($7.5km\;s^{-1}$) resolution will provide more nebular lines and excitation/abundances to constrain the morphology and kinematics of the Nebula and the PDRs. Combined with other archival data (X-ray, 2MASS, WISE, Spitzer, Herschel) for PN, high-resolution IR spectroscopy will yield insight into poorly understood aspects of PN morphologies and the late stages of binary star evolution.
