Background: Contents of bioactive substances extractable from different parts of terrestrial plants vary enormously. Aim: To ascertain that parts of Withania somnifera other than its roots can also be used for prevention and cure of unavoidable stress triggered central hypersensitivity to pain. Material and Methods: Groups of male or female mice treated either with Withania somnifera extracts or with metformin, aspirin, imipramine, diazepam and niacin for 11 consecutive days were subjected to "foot-shock stress-induced hyperthermia" and "hot plate" tests on the 1st, 5th, 7th, and 10th days of the experiments. On the 11th day, they were subjected to tail suspension test and on 12th day pentobarbital hypnosis test. Results: Except for diazepam and imipramine, protective effects of all other tested drugs as well as of the Withania somnifera extracts against stress-induced central hypersensitivity to pain were accompanied by their preventive effects against foot-shock stress-induced body weight losses. All observed stress response suppressing effects of all test agents increased with increasing numbers of treatment days. However, mean duration of pentobarbital-induced sleep was shorter in the extracts treated groups and longer in the diazepam treated ones only. Conclusions: Reported observations reveal that pharmacological activity profile of Withania somnifera extracts in male and female mice are almost identical, and are not like those of several drugs currently often prescribed for the treatment of diabetes-associated comorbidities. Withanolides are not the only extractable bioactive constituents of Withania somnifera. The described bioassay system is well suited for pharmacological standardization of diverse types of Withania somnifera extracts.

최근 다양한 형태의 스마트 기기 출현과 대중적 보급으로 인해 고속 데이터 전송에 대한 수요가 나날이 증가하고 있다. 이런 요구사항을 수용하기 위해 셀룰러 사업자 및 이동통신 장비 제조업체는 많은 새로운 기술에 대한 연구를 진행하였으며 이에 대한 결과로 향후 셀룰러 네트워크에서 성능 및 커버리지 향상을 위해 소형셀 기술을 하나의 중요한 요소 기술로 고려하고 있다. 셀룰러 네트워크에서 소형셀 기술은 데이터 요구량이 많은 위치에 소형셀을 밀집 배치하고 매크로 기지국 및 소형셀 기지국의 밀접한 협력을 통해 무선 네트워크의 용량을 증가시키는 것을 의미한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 매크로 셀과 소형 셀이 다층으로 배치된 셀룰러 이동통신 구조를 제시하고 다층셀간의 협력을 통해 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 다양한 요소기술들에 대해서 기술한다. 또, 이들 요소기술들을 바탕으로 최근 3GPP에서 활발히 논의되고 있는 LTE 소형셀 향상 표준화 동향에 대해 기술한다.

고속 이동통신의 발전으로 인하여 무선 상에서 웹 브라우징 서비스를 효율적으로 받으려는 요구가 늘고 있지만 기술적인 측면과 표준화 분야 측면에서 아직까지 충분한 지원이 이루어지고 있지 않다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하고자 W3C MWI Activity는 모바일 웹 브라우징 환경의 호환성 확보와 유무선 웹 콘텐츠간의 효과적인 연동을 위한 목적으로 활동을 시작하였고, 이를 위해 필요한 모바일 웹 콘텐츠 저작/활용에 대한 모범사례 분석과 가이드라인 표준화, 모바일 단말 정보 공유활용 방안 등에 대한 표준화를 진행해오고 있다. 또한 표준 웹 콘텐츠 인증을 위해 모바일 OK 인증표준화를 추진하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 W3C 모바일 웹 이니셔티브(MWI: Mobile Web Initiative)" 대한 기술 및 표준화 활동을 살펴보고자 한다.

5G RAN은 4G가 진화된 무선기술(evolved E-UTRA)과 5G 무선기술(New Radio, NR)을 모두 지원하는 새로운 무선액세스 네트워크(New RAN)이며, 코어 네트워크 (EPC and NGC)과 접속되어 5G 시스템(NextGen System)을 구성한다. 본고에서는 5G RAN(Radio Access Network,)을 대상으로, RAN 시설 배치 시나리오, RAN과 CN 간 기능 분배 및 인터페이스, 프런트-홀 네트워크의 전송 용량 및 지연, New RAN과 E-UTRA 간 모빌리티 시나리오 등에 대한 표준 이슈를 살펴본다. 마지막 절에선 RAN의 네트워크 슬라이싱 지원 방안으로 상위레벨 개념의 구조와 절차를 정리한다. 본 문서는 3GPP RAN3 그룹의 기술보고서(TR 38.801)와 SA2 기술보고서(TR 23.799)를 바탕으로 작성되었다.

It has been found that implementing the function analysis is very important in terms of accomplishing successful Value Engineering(VE), and the function definition is a basic activity at design VE phase. In spite of the importance, the real function analysis activities in the VE are not regard as consequence. In this regard, this paper attempts to use the campus mater plan to lead an effective function analysis. So, the purpose of this value engineering study is to provide the criteria to develop the campus mater plan. This value engineering study used as a guide for the standardization of the campus mater plan. In addition, broader application is possible through the analysis throughout the different ways of the project.

ISO/IEC JTC1 SC6는 전기통신 및 시스템간 정보교환과 관련되는 국제작업을 수행하는 전문기관이며 이것의 하부기관인 WG4는 OSI 제 4계층인 수송계층 국제표준을 개발하고 있다. 본 고에서는 이러한 기관의 기본적인 활동에 대하여 분석하고 그중 WG4의 수송계층 프로토콜 향상 작업에 대하여 설명하였다. 이러한 작업은 하위계층의 우수한 성능을 충분히 이용하고 상위계층에 다양한 기능을 제공함으로써 향후 멀티미디어 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 수송계층을 만들자는데 그 목적이 있다.

Herbal medicine is the use of medicinal plants for prevention and treatment of diseases: it ranges from traditional and popular medicines of every country to the use of standardized and tritated herbal extracts. Generally cultural rootedness enduring and widespread use in a traditional medical system may indicate safety, but also efficacy of treatments, especially in herbal medicine where tradition is almost completely based on remedies containing active principles at very low and ultra low concentrations or relying on magical-energetic principles. The efficacy and safety assessments of medicines, whether modern or herbal, invariably encounter challenges or problems during the course of pre-clinical and clinical research. Some of the challenges in evidence-based herbal medicinal research are unique, and the researcher must be cognizant of them in order to safeguard the quality of the data obtained. Key challenges are: the quality of raw materials; appropriateness of biological/pharmacological activity assessment methodology, and data interpretation; standardization methodology; pharmacokinetics and bioavailability of active constituents and metabolites; clinical dosage formulation/production; and clinical study designs and outcome measures.

Recently MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) has started a new standardization activity called MPEG Multimedia Middleware (M3W). The M3W supports multimedia applications Independent of hardware and software such as operating systems so that the portability and interoperability of multimedia applications are greatly improved. In doing so, the M3W adopts the concept of a service-based middleware. The M3W standardizes a set of multimedia Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and their implementations can be pro vided by third parties In the form of services. In this paper, we introduce the usage of XML metadata in describing the standard multimedia APIs and third party's services and also we explain the role of the XML Schema within the M3W in providing transparent access from application to the M3W services.

As railway signaling system is computerized, the significance on safety demonstration and assessment has been increased. Therefore, railway signaling system should reflect the needs for safety assessment technique. Various studies on safety assessment technique for railway signaling have been made in Europe and standardization of the requirements for safety acceptance has been initiated by IEC. In order to develop and establish the safety assessment techniques for railway signaling in Korea, we try to review safety assessment activities for signaling system via reviewing relevant case studies and consulting with experts. And also we propose the safety assessment activity/methodology for Korean railway signaling system.
