By comparing the measured optical reflection spectra with calculated one by the transfer-matrix method (TMM) in epitaxial wafers for vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs), we have estimated the systematic thickness errors in a simple and nondestructive way. The experimentally confirmed technique is based on the finding that the shape of the reflection spectra depends mainly on a newly defined single parameter, the effective error in the n-mirror layers, and the thickness error in the active cavity simply shifts the Fabry-Perot resonance wavelength. Also shown is that the proposed method is reliable when the relative standard deviation of the random thickness errors is less than 0.005. Because reflection spectra are routinely measured, we can easily estimate the thickness errors nondestructively with high spatial resolution.

In this work, we used PWM sampling for demodulation of a fiber-optic interferometric current transformer. The interference signal from a fiber-optic CT is sampled with PWM triggers that produce a 90-degree phase difference between two consecutively sampled signals. The current-induced phase is extracted by applying an arctangent demodulation and a phase unwrapping algorithm to the sampled signals. From experiments using the proposed demodulation, we obtained phase measurement accuracy and a linearity error, in AC current measurements, of ~2.35 mrad and 0.18%, respectively. The accuracy of the proposed method was compared with that of a lock-in amplifier demodulation, which showed only 0.36% difference. To compare the birefringence effects of different fiber-optic sensor coils, a flint glass fiber and a standard single-mode fiber were used under the same conditions. The flint glass fiber coil with a Faraday rotator mirror showed the best performance. Because of the simple hardware structure and signal processing, the proposed demodulation would be suitable for low-cost over-current monitoring in high voltage power systems.

Modern fashion manifests in forms that mirror the diverse lifestyles and personalities of consumers. It transcends mere aesthetic designs and embodyies practicality. There is a preference for comfortable, highly functional attire, leaning towards easy wear. Casual wear, in particular, embraces a sense of freedom not found in standard business attire. It seeks a comfortable, natural silhouette through tactile fabrics rather than sportswear. Loose, drop shoulder sleeves enhance comfort and mobility and often become key elements in casual wear designs. Given that clothing must balance aesthetics with functionality, especially across various activities, it is natural to prioritize functional design. Research on patterns suited for dynamic conditions is imperative. The rise of drop shoulder styles necessitates the development of corresponding sleeve patterns. It is crucial to differentiate pattern drafting methods due to the resulting silhouette variations. This study aims to categorize drop shoulder pattern drafting techniques based on shoulder extension and angle dimensions. Each method will be examined, and drop shoulder sleeve patterns and wear forms will be studied using a 3D virtual system. This research holds significance in providing valuable insights and foundational data for designing diverse drop shoulder sleeve patterns, contributing to their practical development and advancement.

In this paper, a couple of 4-channel differential transimpedance amplifier arrays are realized in a standard 0.18um CMOS technology for the applications of linear LADAR(laser detection and ranging) systems. Each array targets 1.25-Gb/s operations, where the current-mode chip consists of current-mirror input stage, a single-to-differential amplifier, and an output buffer. The input stage exploits the local feedback current-mirror configuration for low input resistance and low noise characteristics. Measurements demonstrate that each channel achieves $69-dB{\Omega}$ transimpedance gain, 2.2-GHz bandwidth, 21.5-pA/sqrt(Hz) average noise current spectral density (corresponding to the optical sensitivity of -20.5-dBm), and the 4-channel total power dissipation of 147.6-mW from a single 1.8-V supply. The measured eye-diagrams confirms wide and clear eye-openings for 1.25-Gb/s operations. Meanwhile, the voltage-mode chip consists of inverter input stage for low noise characteristics, a single-to-differential amplifier, and an output buffer. Test chips reveal that each channel achieves $73-dB{\Omega}$ transimpedance gain, 1.1-GHz bandwidth, 13.2-pA/sqrt(Hz) average noise current spectral density (corresponding to the optical sensitivity of -22.8-dBm), and the 4-channel total power dissipation of 138.4-mW from a single 1.8-V supply. The measured eye-diagrams confirms wide and clear eye-openings for 1.25-Gb/s operations.

The osseous or osteocutaneous free fibula flap has become the gold standard for most mandibular reconstructions because of its favorable osseous characteristics. However, disadvantages, such as the time-consuming reconstructive step, difficulty in performing the osteotomies to precisely recreate the shape of the missing segment of mandible and poor bone-to-bone contact play a role in making the surgeons look for alternative flaps. With the advent of computerized design software, which accurately plans complex 3-dimensional reconstructions, has become a process that is more efficient and precise. However, the ability to transfer the computerized plan into the surgical field with stereolithographic models and guides has been a significant development in advancing reconstruction in the maxillofacial regions. The ability to "pre-plan" the case, mirror and superimpose natural structures into diseased and deformed areas, as well as the ability to reproduce these plans with good surgical precision has decreased overall operative time, and has helped facilitate functional and esthetic reconstruction. We describe a complex case treated with this technique, showing the power and elegance of computer assisted maxillofacial reconstruction from the University of Michigan, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

This paper proposes a low phase noise ring voltage controlled oscillator(VCO) with a standard $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS process for PLL circuit using the VCO-gain-controlled Delay cell. The proposed Delay cell architecture with a active resistor using a MOS transistor. This method can reduced a VCO gain so that improve phase noise. And, Delay cell consist of Wide-Swing Cascode current mirror, Positive Latch and Symmetric load for low phase noise. The measurement results demonstrate that the phase noise is -119dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset from 1.9GHz. The VCO gain and power dissipation are 440MHz/V and 9mW, respectively.

Two kinds of QMF(Quadrature Mirror Filter) pairs are used in JPEG2000 standard, which don't have QMF distortions. However, the QMF pairs have the main disadvantages such that there are gentle roll-off rate, ripples in the passband and unequal band decomposition. In this paper, Maxflat(maximally flat) QMF pairs with a half-band gain are proposed for overcoming these problems. Maxflat QMF pairs are realized due to generalized closed-form formulas, and the filters have maximally flat response in the passband/stopband as well as sharp roll-off rate in the transition band. Comparing proposed filters and JPEG2000's filters in frequency domain, it is found that proposed filters have better performance JPEG2000's filters. Moreover, Maxflat QMF pairs show stopband-attenuation exceeding 200 dB almost everywhere.
Purpose: A system to measure the visibility of agricultural tractor operators was designed and evaluated according to ISO standards, and a blind area diagram around the tested tractor was created based on the manual method recommended by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Methods: A visibility measurement system was designed and evaluated based on the ISO 5006 and ISO 5721-1 standards. Two bulbs used to simulate the operator's eyes were mounted on a bar with a supporting frame. A wooden frame was used to determine the seat index point position. The 12-m visibility test circle was divided into six sectors of vision, and the test tractor was placed at the center of the circle. Artificial light was supplied in the darkened environment, and shadow or masking effects were measured manually around the 12-m circle. Results: When the bulbs were placed at the operator's eye level, front visibility was good; no masking was found in the "A" vision sector, but larger masking widths were found in the "B" and "C" vision sectors. Since the masking width exceeded 700 mm, additional tests, such as movement of the light sources to both sides of the operator's eye level, were performed. Less than six masking effects were found in the semi-circle of vision to the front, and more than one masking was found in the "B" and "C" visual fields. The minimum distance between the centers of two masking effects exceeded 2500 mm when measured as a chord on the semi-circle of vision. A blind area diagram was created to define the exact nature of the blind spots and mirror visibility. Conclusions: Visibility evaluation is an effective way to enable proper and safe operation for agricultural tractor operators. Inclusion of this visibility evaluation test in the general testing process might aid tractor manufacturers.

The study intends to seek the creative ideas that can satisfy the needs of individual consumers by rediscovering the modern meaning and the artistic value of geometric ornaments engraved on the backside of Danyugyung, which is a traditional Korean pattern. In terms of the study method, the symbolic meaning and formative characteristics of Danyugyung were determined, and the form of its pattern and the geometric characteristics were analyzed. Based on this, Photoshop and illustrations were used to apply the shapes of Danyugyung and internal patterns to the textile designs, and the results are as follows. Firstly, it was found that Danyugyung was associated with the bronze mirror, which was used from the Bronze Age to the Early Iron Age, and was the product of artistic activities and an object and acted as a shamanistic and authoritative symbol of the ruling parties, which were responsible for the acts related to the spiritual world. Secondly, it was discovered that forms of Danyugyung were classified into Jomungyung and Semungyung in accordance with Forms of Danyugyung (造飾), and the formative features of the geometric ornaments that were engraved in great detail on the backside could be found in the images which change according to the form of the inner patterns. Thirdly, with regard to the development of the textile designs utilizing the shape and inner patterns of Danyugyung based on the formative features, it was could discover that the simple shape of Danyugyung presented a value which can be applied as a unique design factor delivering a visual rhythm by attempting to create various harmonies overlapping lines engraved on the inner patterns and the shapes of Danyugyung. Based on the above-mentioned outcomes, the possibility was confirmed that Danyugyung can be used as a novel motif and as a standard unit of patterns for textile design. With future studies, I would like to utilize the unique and diverse images as pattern motif for textile design.
