  • With the rapid distribution and active usage of the Internet, information search and retrieval through Internet has become a primary form of information access. This ubiquity of information access through Internet means the increased significance of search performance offered by Internet portals, since the optimization of search performance by portal has strong implication for the effective access of information through Internet in general. In this context, this paper investigates the classification scheme used in the directory service of internet portals, which provides selected and organized access to Internet information. First, the author analyzes the deployment of directory classification of standard subdivision topics used in traditional library classification system, with emphasis on the table composed of the form and approach, which are applicable to diverse subject areas. Then, based on this analysis, he proposed a method of applying certain subdivisions of the standard subdivision to directory service of Internet portals.

  • This paper is focused on the modulation scheme detection of the IEEE 802.11 standard. In the IEEE 802.11ac standard, the information of the modulation scheme is indicated by the modulation coding scheme (MCS) included in the VHT-SIG-A of the preamble field. Transmitting end determines the MCS index suitable for the low signal to noise ratio (SNR) situation and transmits the data accordingly. Since data field decoding can take place only when the receiving end acquires the MCS index information of the frame. Therefore, accurate MCS detection must be guaranteed before data field decoding. However, since the MCS index information is the information obtained through preamble field decoding, the detection rate can be affected significantly in a low SNR situation. In this paper, we propose a relatively robust modulation classification method based on deep learning to solve the low detection rate problem with a conventional method caused by a low SNR.

  • The industry information grows faster than any other information resources in the Internet age. Unfortunately, however, there is no consensus on the standard of the classification among the information providers of the industry fields. This may a problematic issue not only in building a continuous and systematic development of the industry information, but also in the use of the information among the users. This study aims to propose a well-structured and/or an efficient classification scheme for the industry information to help the users with easy to retrieve the Internet resources. To do this, we analyzed the subject classification scheme of the domestic industry information on the web sites, which is largely adopted the \"Korean Standard for the Industry Classification\". In addition, we suggested the principle of the subject classification and their hierarchial structure derived from the analysis of the knowledge and document classification scheme. As a result, it was suggested an optimized industry classification scheme based on the analysis of the validity test of classification item measured by the quantitative analysis of the industry information, which it currently accessible through the Internet. • The paper analyzes local children's libraries' status of application of classification scheme and problems and difficulties in its application in order to be used as basic material for development of classification scheme for exclusive use of children's libraries. Through survey, the paper researched 96 local children's libraries, and the results showed that KDC-applied libraries numbered 53 and were the highest, libraries which developed their own classification scheme numbered 22, and libraries which applied classification scheme for children's library numbered 13. Further, many asserted that there needs to be a development of standard classification scheme to be used in children's library. On problems and difficulties in applying classification scheme, notes such as difficulty of accommodating various forms of children's books(such as comic books and picture books), placing too much emphasis on collection of books on certain topic, and lack of topic categories appropriate for characteristics of collected books were voiced, and by holding additional discussion on these, the paper raised the usefulness of the dissertation to be used as basic materials for developing classification scheme for exclusive use of children's library in the future.

  • This paper examines 'Religion Class' in the scheme of the DDC. The major findings of the study are summerized as follows. 1. The first edition of DDC was published in 1876 in order to classify Amherst College Library collections. In spite of the continuous study and revision of the experts, the frameworks of the DDC systems are still kept unchanged. Only their subdivisions, reflecting those developments in the academic world, are developed and detailed more sophisticatedly. 2. The division of 200 does not function as generalities for all class of religion. Therefore, it is necessary to amend the division of 200 to serve generalities for all the religions of the world. 3. Standard subdivision for the christian religion and for the non-christian religion is different. So, the mnemonic nature has become weakened due to the dual standard subdivisions and the classification number becomes much longer and complicated. Therefore, one standard subdivision for all religions of the world is required. 4. Religion science was organized in late 19 C and developed continuously, but the DDC does not accomodate the religion science as a science. Accodingly, the DDC should be revised recognize religion science as a science not the christian science. 5. The deployment of classification scheme in Dewey's 200 is severely biased. That is to say, 9 division were assigned for christian religion, whereas only 1 division was assigned for non-christian religion. Therefore, an adjustment should be made to allocate subdivisions equally to all religions of the world. 6. General classification order of religion is prehistoric, primitive, ancient, modem and world religion in religion science. But, DDC does not accept this general classification order of religion, sticking to the biased expansion towards christianity. Therefore, DDC must adopt the general classification order of religion in the religion science. 7. Lastly, because of the limitation of decimal notation in DC, DDC does not accomodate new subject equally and classification number becomes longer. Therefore, centesimal expansion is proposed in order to make the classification number short, to enlarge its capacity of inclusion of new subject and to maintain consistency in the scheme.

  • This study examined the historical background and structural characteristics of the UDC(Universal Decimal Classification) standard edition which has been created from the entire content of the Master Reference File database. We made a comparison of the structural characteristics between UDC standard edition and Korean abridged edition. UDC is a hybrid of two kinds of documentary classification scheme, that is enumerative and analytico-synthetic, and its structure reflects this feature. It is found that UDC standard edition extended the universality and synthetic method using its auxiliary tables compare to Korean abridged edition.

  • In the last decade many advanced home network services have been provided by construction industry, and many researches on the area have been carried out. One of the problems we are confronted with is that we do not have a standard classification scheme for home network services yet. In this paper a more stable classification scheme is suggested after comparative analysis of many different schemes in previous researches. More commonly highly attended service categories in the scheme is selected, and those are examined in terms of how commonly they are supplied by construction industry. In the later part of this paper the current home network building certification code is reviewed if the code complies with the highly attended categories in the classification scheme suggested in this paper. Some ideas to improve the current certification code is suggested by adding or optionally adding the highly attended categories.

  • The classification scheme of records indicates a table that intends to express organic relations between records by organizing records and enabling internal order. Although the principles of organic classification have remained in traditional records management environment, they have been changed to "function and business" in the modern times. Therefore, Korea introduced a business reference model (BRM) based on function and business from 2008 and subsequently implemented its operation. However, it has been pointed out that the roles of the classification scheme of records have not been played because the analysis of "Danwigwaje," which belongs to the lowest level of business reference models, is poor. According to this indication, the Gangbuk District of Seoul Special City established a functional classification scheme by executing a business process analysis of "Danwigwaje." First, the record manager carried out analyses on the principles of "Danwigwaje," small function, and "Danwigwaje." Then, the functional classification scheme of "Danwigwaje" was modified by looking into the opinion inquiry process of the treatment department and performing a test operation. Through the case of the Gangbuk District in Seoul Special City, analytical procedures and methods of "Danwigwaje," as well as implications according to the establishment of a functional classification scheme of basic local governments, were arranged in a written format.

  • In applying RFID/USN technology to various industries, it is needed to solve the problem caused by the system differences. Accordingly, this study introduces the common standard platform concept, and suggests the standard data scheme which provides the uniform perspective of classifying supply chain data and of using vocabularies. We selected several industry areas applicable for the platform, which are pharmaceutical, cosmetics, food and liquor industry. We collect and organize terminologies used in the supply chain of each industry, and then classify them according to the defined data attributes. The standardized vocabularies are suggested based on the contextured scheme of data classification. This study could provide more convenient way of communication between business partners, system developers and users of the platform.
